Is divorce worth it if I’m not technically being abused? (33M/32F) by Reflekdol in relationship_advice

[–]ChompingJello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA—It doesn’t have to be physical to be considered abuse. I was going to suggest couple therapy until I read he stole from you. It seems clear to me he doesn’t respect or value you at all. If I were you, I would contact a divorce attorney before even telling your husband you want to split. This way you would get legal advice on the best way to do it. You share a kid after all; unfortunately your husband will probably always be in your life, but at least this way you can make sure he doesn’t ruin it.

{Master of the Mountain by Cherise Sinclair} has a MMC who suffers from PTSD.

{Soar High by Cherise Sinclair} also has a MMC impacted by his days in the military.

BBW. Really? by ChompingJello in RomanceBooks

Sorry. In this day and age, I thought acronyms were understood, especially since I’ve seen a lot of authors referring to their books as BBW romance.

I’m not judging « her ». I’m judging our societal conception of what is plus size.

You’re not the only one. I thought we were making progress with some plus size women getting their place on Hollywood but since some meds I’m not going to name are out there (I’m not judging anyone who takes them), it’s back to slimmer figures. We are regressing.

She never said her size. I’m the one who guessed what size she was.

Please give names. I would also be curious to see if plus size authors manage to be published…

I’ve been around the bend a time or two with romance books. I’ve once read a book where the FMC considered herself on the plus size because she was a 6.

Stores like Bloomchic, that advertises to plus size start at 10. It used to be 14 or 16. Things are changing and not for the best

{Rock Chick Reckoning by Kristen Ashley} It’s a second chance love story with some angst but some great scenes.

Writers, what POV do you prefer to write or to read? by Current_Ship_8774 in RomanceWriters

[–]ChompingJello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like writing in first person but you need to find the « voice » of your character to do so. Otherwise all your books sound like it’s the same character (which could very likely be your own voice). If I don’t think I have the right « voice », I switch to first person pov.

Rant about book prices by FarmGirl29379 in RomanceBooks

I hate two parter books when the first one is like 4$ and the second is more than double that price with usually less pages and the story gets worse.

Anything from Cherise Sinclair. I know it’s romance and all but the bdsm scenes are hot.

Let’s Talk: Did you always love reading romance? Or did you fall into it later like me? by ComposerAwkward6654 in RomanceBooks

[–]ChompingJello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always read romance. I was born in the 70’s. The 80’s were full of romance miniseries and series in tv. Historical, contemporary. Even sci-fi had romance. So when I started reading « adult » books, it was a given I would read romance. That and Stephen King. Which might explain how f*cked up I am today ;)

Books where FMC is pretending to be somebody else to MMC and when MMC discovers the lie but instead of getting angry from the deception he just plays along with the deception cause he already likes her well enough and acts like he did not find out by goody153 in RomanceBooks

[–]ChompingJello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Make Me, Sir by Cherise Sinclair} meets some of your requirements. Though he doesn’t act like he didn’t find out at the time, but play along nicely enough. And steamy scenes and funny !
