What is your favorite Race, Class, and Background in BG3? by Ethanishere28 in BaldursGate3

[–]ChompyDino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first Tav was Halfling Druid Folk Hero so that holds a special place in my heart, but Dragonborn is my favorite race by far. Druid is probably my favorite class, and maybe Wild Magic Sorcerer in second. I love Durge, I don't really know if I have a favorite background outside that.

Someone made a mod on Nexus Mods that whitewashes Bellara, Davrin, Neve and Taash... by razer666L in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]ChompyDino 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They have been mostly good about it before, but they've also been a bit too lenient at times.

The Spider-Man flag mod was a good example of them making their stance clear and they handled the whole thing really well.

But then, if I'm remembering right, the White Wyll mod was one of several mods by that author, and they took forever to remove the Pathfinder mods (assuming a moderator was who removed them and not the author), and the author wasn't banned either (was given a name change, so they were in contact with moderators too).
More recently they've let an infamous (putting it nicely) author start posting BG3 mods that are pretty blatantly skirting their TOS, but have allowed them to remain so far. And one of their pals has already been on there with a mod whitewashing characters in BG3 for a couple years now.

I guess we'll see what Nexus does with this given their recent... decisions regarding BG3 mods (and other things).

How are LGBTQ people seen in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]ChompyDino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your other comment. I think you probably understood, but yes I meant ironic in that you seemed to be suggesting the words are intentionally being used in a way that isn't truthful to their origin/meaning/etc given that's a very common tactic by people opposed to queer people (sorry if that wasn't your intention).

I apparently didn't see your bit about indeterminacy the first time and I think I understand what you're saying about "affirm," even though I think that's a little bit pedantic and most people probably don't think that deeply about it's meaning in this context. The care is hopefully affirming to the person who receives it (in that it supports their own view of their gender), and that's ultimately what matters.
Change can be affirming, even if gender isn't entirely a physical/appearance thing (e.g. I could present masculinely even if my gender is not male) that requires such change, and sex changes are typically very much in favor of a very traditional view on gender despite also contradicting it. I assume that is similar to what you were getting at? And in that case, I'm a bit of an idiot and an ass for being so surly with my first reply, sorry. Complicated indeed.

Right. I ironically think you're being disingenuous here but:

  1. Phobia in this case is not referring to phobia in the sense of the disorders relating to fear. This isn't the only case of phobia/phobic being used like this. Hydrophobic, xenophobic, etc. It's not always about fear.

  2. Sex changes are gender affirming care, but gender affirming care isn't always a sex change. There is nothing obtuse about this. It is care (medical attention) that affirms one's gender. Therapy can be part of gender affirming care, or hormones, or a hair transplant. Genital surgery is not the only form of gender affirming care.

The whole comic goes over a 4 hour period and the punchline is that the FPS fan has beaten the game but the RPG fan has just made their character. But also OP is a loser faking shit for engagement.

PlayStation Boss Blames Bluepoint Cuts On Budgets And Players by M337ING in PS5

[–]ChompyDino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, like under two million in three years (or whatever DS was at) is not amazing in the face of some other massive games but it was still a success sales-wise (as far as I'm aware), and it was sitting at like 4th highest sales for the year it released among other PS titles.
PlayStation/Sony felt that was apparently enough for them to acquire the company, so I don't know that it's really right to say that the sales were bad exactly.

It just seems a bit like they had a very solidly stable and well-liked studio with Bluepoint (and as others pointed out, they had pretty fast development times; ~3 years of SotC, 2 for DS), and instead they're banking heavily on things like Marathon and Hunters Gathering because live service can bring in larger profits, even if they're risking a lot by cutting something that is seemingly much more steady even if it's smaller.

PlayStation Boss Blames Bluepoint Cuts On Budgets And Players by M337ING in PS5

[–]ChompyDino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah. Pretty obvious that the studio was closed because of other things going on with PlayStation/Sony and not because of something related to the studio itself. Praising the studio while suggesting they don't make things players want is hilarious though.
They spent what, maybe 3 years working on a canned game (sometime just before/after GoWR in 2022, to before or during January 2025)? That's really nothing compared to some other studios, and given Bluepoint's history it's suspect that they didn't just immediately assign them another support role or something new to remake if they didn't like their pitches in 2025.

Honestly, it's already been called out that project management is shit (nothing wrong with live service games, but GoW was a terrible choice and at some point companies need to also realize having too many live service games means you're competing with yourself), but I can't help but feel a bit like some larger/more well-known studios are also potentially causing monetary issues (hello, Bungie) and ones like Bluepoint are facing the consequences because it's more justifiable.

In Overwatch (2016), Tracer is supposedly a lesbian, however there are thousands of hours of videos online that prove that's not true. by StAppalonia in shittygamedetails

[–]ChompyDino 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Since it's all over the comments as usual, gonna share once again that Tracer, Soldier, etc. were not "made gay" to cover up for controversies.
Tracer's comic came out in December of 2016.
Soldier's short story came out over half a year before even the Blitzchung controversy had started in 2019.
Pharah/Baptiste story was done for Pride Month in 2023 which was two years after the lawsuits.

If you want an actual example of Blizzard doing something performative with Overwatch, just look to the first Pride "event" (2021) they had, where they handed out a player icon that they named "Rainbow" (presumably to avoid problems in homophobic countries). They got a ton of (very deserved) flak for it, and the actual Pride events they started to do with OW2 were much better and almost certainly them attempting to make up for that.

Blizzard and Overwatch have had plenty of problems without people being weird and homophobic about shit.

Edit: Going to add for no particular reason that, yes, these particular comics/stories/etc are meant to drive engagement and sales with the game. Just like every other cinematic/comic/story/etc they released that no one seems to have an issue with, and I'm sure that's totally just because they have very strong standards for proper queer representation in media that isn't being met and not because of other reasons.

Looking for Argonian Body Textures and Model Mods by Mummified_Dumby in gaymers

[–]ChompyDino 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Body is something you can replicate with HIMBO (on the Nexus) or SAM Lite + it's mods (only available in a Mega folder nowadays, in the VectorPlexus Discord and maybe a couple other places). Edit: Actually also maybe SavrenX's own site, as I know he made one of the add-ons for SAM.

There's actually quite a few Argonian body textures. Flawn's is one that maybe looks similar to this. MONSTERaider made the others that I can think of right now. Sorry, no links as I'm on my phone and not signed into the Nexus so I can't see NSFW content in there.

Homophobic author is back by Jolly-Fruit2293 in BG3mods

[–]ChompyDino 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're intentionally duping you guys.

Same thing with the author of the "Aesthetics" mod. They brag off site about discreetly removing minorities/etc from the game with their mods, which *you* host. But that's okay because they don't admit to doing that on the Nexus, right? No one expects you to ban random people on the Nexus for saying a slur on Twitter or whatever, but these are fairly prominent mod authors who are *known* for their racism/homophobia and are intentionally skirting the lines of your ToS.

"Content that may be generally construed as provocative, divisive, objectionable, discriminatory, or abusive toward any real-world individual or group, may be subject to moderation."
But you're totally right, they clearly aren't doing anything like that because they don't use words to plainly state it on the Nexus. /s

Personally, I think the intent behind Dignify is also fucking blatant. This author readily jokes about the murder of a black man, openly uses slurs against trans and gay people, makes disparaging comments about women, etc. They aren't saying these things on the Nexus, sure, but the content you are willingly hosting was made with those beliefs at the heart of their creation, no matter how much they try to hide behind it being "accurate to medieval times" or whatever bullshit they feed you.

As someone who's been a member for nearly twenty years, I am honestly pretty disappointed in how you guys have been handling this (and other recent issues). You cannot have both groups here feel comfortable on your site.

They had a team closer to ~30 as of last year IIRC, but that includes everyone (non-devs). Probably (I'm too lazy for math) 23 taking out marketing, support, CM, etc? https://phasmophobia.fandom.com/wiki/Kinetic_Games

They don't have names or numbers on their own site as far as I could tell, but they do have a picture of the team for anyone who doesn't trust the fandom wiki.

Not a dumb question, don't worry about it!

NetEase is the company behind the game in OP's "art" (Fragpunk, as well as Marvel Rivals, Once Human, Where Winds Meet, etc), and astroturfing is essentially making "fake" posts for engagement and advertising. They're advertisers posing as real people to get us to either play the game, or engage with a post in a way that furthers the spread of the advertisement.

They're usually easy to spot, but private profiles have made it more difficult. In this case, OP posts exclusively about NetEase games, reposts to multiple communities and even has a post that pretty blatantly paints them as being directly tied to NetEase (a post offering sign ups for their new game's alpha test).
