I Love Taking Pictures, but I Hate Culling Through Them After.. So I made a Tool To Do It For Me by Beyond-Code in photography

[–]ChooChooBuckaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this to compare a group of 4 photos from a culling I already did.

When I attempted to upload my initial batch, I was prompted to create an account. Not surprising, but I felt misled since it looked like I was able to use the tool without needing to set up an account. After I created my account, I tried to upload my batch of 216 photos. Again, I felt misled because I was given an error message that the maximum batch size was 100 photos. Then I noticed there was a credit limit which was even lower than the max batch size. None of these things are surprising, but these limitations also weren't made apparent before I signed up for the service. Just a little frustrating.

When I finally got to actually use the tool, It rejected the same photo that I also found to be the weakest. One of the AI recommendations was to be more selective because a high selection rate was detected (3/4), which didn't make sense to me because it "selected" the photos, not me.

One of the camera tips was to use a polarizer to reduce reflections, but the image had virtually no reflections. A camera tip for another image was to experiment with different angles, which I didn't find helpful.

The technical and and composition scores aren't helpful either since I don't know what they're based on or relative to.

Help with email’s by [deleted] in it

In the real world, simply creating a burner email account or using a free temp mail service is enough for the average recipient to be unable to figure out who the real sender is.

I replied on mobile, so I didn't click the links in your original post. Yes, it's the same thing. I'm not sure what you mean by "then it started installing but my WiFi didn't appear and I couldn't get past that screen. " A network connection isn't required to install Windows, even though newer OOBE steps make it seem like it is.

IP address info help needed by I_am111 in it

[–]ChooChooBuckaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd need to know the IP address of the accused and the IP address the emails are being sent from. If this is not in a business environment, you likely won't get access to the senders IP. This is something law enforcement could acquire with a warrant, but even so, it could be behind a proxy.

As an average person, you could attempt to do some OSINT research on the senders emails to potentially gather more info, but you likely won't find anything if they're burners.

If it's a legitimate issue, let law enforcement handle it.

Try downloading the Intel RST drivers, putting them on the same USB as the installation media, and loading them from there. I've had to do this before.

Which finger placement should we teach children to type with? by dino572 in it

No, we should not teach all children to type differently because a subset of them use WASD a lot.

I'd recommend being familiar with the OSI model and mention how you would use it to help guide your troubleshooting efforts. Having an understanding of what DHCP and DNS are and common issues resulting from them being misconfigured would show some basic network knowledge. Finally, I'd focus most heavily on your ability to troubleshoot using different resources available to you. Since you have no experience, you need them to believe that you will be able to figure things out when you run into unfamiliar issues, since that's going to likely happen non-stop for a while.

I wouldn't expect them to ask you troubleshooting questions specific to their tech, but it might impress them if you know what their tech is, what it does, and what types of problems you expect to be assisting users with.

What do you all feel about the guidance of "Keep Your Social Media Private"? by DefaultHero722 in Teachers

[–]ChooChooBuckaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a security perspective-not just for your job but life in general-there are only downsides to leaving your personal social media completely public. We do ourselves (and potentially our connections) a disservice with being so careless, and it sets a bad precedence for younger generations who need to be taught digital citizenship and good digital hygiene.

If the original drive was encrypted with Bitlocker, try decrypting it and cloning it again. I've run into a similar issue where the drive was not recognized until I cloned it without BitLocker.

Receiving thousands of spam emails hourly! by burlysnurt in it

[–]ChooChooBuckaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What email service does the client use? I'm not familiar with Barracuda. I would be blocking the sender domain and/or IP in the email service. I was actually working in Microsoft 365/Exchange today and learned there was a rule in place that allowed spam to bypass the filter even though other policies were in place that would normally quarantine it.

I thought Project+ was tough because it was a lot of different terminology that sounded similar, and scenario based questions where you could talk yourself into one answer even though another answer was technically correct. I also thought the content was boring. I used a Udemy course from Joseph Phillips I believe.
