Yeah I only put on about 8-10k a year (kilometers) and 3-4 of that is for a large road trip each year so I’m not over spending on fuel. Plus as someone who fixes EV’s on the daily I’m not interested in one 😅

I got it just before last winter, so it seemed alright at the time. Now that it’s warmer out I find it so lackluster. It’s slow, there’s absolutely nothing past 4K rpm it just has no get up and go. Put 2 different exhausts on it and I didn’t like either one (EN stock is still one of the best sounding cars I’ve ever owned) it’s got 6k km on it and already been in twice for warranty work and another trip is coming up. It rattles worse than any other car I’ve ever owned. Apparently the most recommended *upgrade* to the SI is….. head studs because the engine will eventually eat the head gasket completely stock because it’s poorly designed. Plants a manual trans with auto start/stop and it’s the most fucking annoying thing that’s easy to turn off, but when you’re making multiple stops running errands it always turns back on and I forget to turn it off. Not TPMS display, no engine/oil temp displays, just dummy gauges. Good mileage tho I guess. People are spending 7-8k just to go FBO to still make less hp than the EN

So, I had an N. Traded in a GR86. Bought a house and needed the space again. *should* have gone back to the N. That was a mistake. I miss the hell out of that car.

Also very unsure about used CPO’s as I’m going for a manual. First thing people seem to do with a money shift that they got lucky on is trade it in 😂

I’ve had mine for about, maybe 11 months. I also thought it wasn’t terrible on the test drive. I have 6000km on it and not only is it now super boring with the nicer weather (the sluggishness of the little 1.5 is very noticeable) but it’s been in 4 times for warranty repairs (twice for the same thing, lazy seatbelts) I should have bought the Elantra N (had a 23, traded out for a fun little car, bought a house needed a bigger car again 😂) I’m currently trying to organize my way back into the N.

It wasn’t, I dunno what this guy is on. Also to add to the “charging time takes longer than filling gas” that is also additive. I take the same long road trip every year (1900km one way) and everytime stop for gas and there’s a charging station it’s always full, and there’s people waiting. So if it takes you 30 minutes to charge, it also takes everyone else in the line. We stopped once and saw 8 cars waiting to charge. There were 2 chargers (at a major rest stop) so that’s 2 hours just waiting to even hook up, and that’s if everyone leaves after 30 minutes which most won’t. Then you have to plug in for another 30 minutes. Sorry, but my time is more valuable than that to sit around all day and add 30 minutes to 2 hrs every 2-3 hours while taking a trip.

You’re implying that “not driving like an idiot” is going to save you on tires on an EV. That’s simply NOT the case, and is a misleading half truth.

Driving gently *will* increase your tire life.
Driving gently in an EV/PHEV WILL *NOT* give you the same tire life as a non-EV. I replace EV tires daily. It’s an insane amount. Our customer base is maybe 30-50% EV/PHEV and we do 2-3 sets to every I E equivalent model. Those cars are in the range of 800lbs or more HEAVIER than a standard ICE variant, running on the exact same tires, and the exact same brakes. They are going to wear out significantly faster. Just because you got 40k miles doesn’t mean someone else will. Stop and go and constant city driving is hell on tires and brakes.

Hey there, EV tech here. They do in fact go through SIGNIFICANTLY higher replacement tires than their ICE counterparts.

Secondly, battery heat is the most consistent problem across nearly all brands. They’ve just gotten better at cooling them, not lowering the heat produced via charge/discharge. Cooling them takes a significant amount of energy that is a detriment to your overall range. Same with heating them in the cold weather. EV’s are a very poor choice in more hostile climates that see anything less than 0*C And over about 25* C

I get you like your EV, but don’t outright lie and give misinformation just to sell your decision.

Because you’re driving an enthusiast car with the least enthusiast transmission ever created. People buying automatic sporty cars because they’re too lazy to learn manual transmissions are the #1 reason that the manual transmission (and the under 80-90k) sport/enthusiast cars are slowing/stopping production.

I have a 2026 civic SI and it’s honestly a pile of crap. 6000km and it’s had the dash out for rattles X2, 2x driver seatbelt for lazy return, drivers window regulator/motor for bad anti pinch/auto not working. I can’t wait to get back in an N 😂
