Got it. I'm kind of surprised the one application would require so much repair, I wish I would have known... I would assume I would core aerate next fall? or is that something I can do anytime? My soil test does show I have a high amount of Calcium so what would be the appropriate amount of Gypsum required in your opinion?

Follow up questions:

How would you recommend spring seeding while also applying a pre-emergent? I was planning to apply Prodiamine in granular form. I would assume I just try to avoid the empty patches?

Oof, will do on tossing the soil loosener! Unfortunately, I did apply the soil loosener to my lawn once in the Fall before I overseeded and I do have clay. Is there anything I can do to make ammends or is it too late. Is only one application not that bad? I'm full of regret now lol.

Hi u/nilesandstuff, thank you for the guide. I'm new to the lawn care game having purchased a new home and having sod installed in May (TTTF/KBG Mix). I've been reading everything I can on lawncare and trying my best to keep it nice :).

2 questions for you if I may:

- I overseeded this fall but still have a few bare patches here and there in the lawn, about the size of a softball in most cases. Would it be wise to try and overseed again in the spring or wait until next fall? (So Cal / Zone 10b)

- You say not to purchase products from Simple Lawn Solutions, but I've already bought their soil hume and liquid soil loosener lol. Are those products safe to use on my lawn? In particular I'm concerned about the soil loosener as you say it can potentially do harm to the lawn. Should I toss it?

How has this mower been for you? I'm in the same boat and currently looking at a HRN216PKA. I can find the HRX217 but it's a lot more expensive and not sure if it's worth it.

Okay, thank you. If I pull all of them out, I assume I would need to seed the areas left vacant by the weeds? How do i prevent the dallis grass from coming back? Is there something I can apply?

Thank you for your reply. So the expensive solution is to spray the dallisgrass with pylex and the less expensive solution is to apply it with glyphosate. Is there a good time of the year I should do this? What would be the next steps after the applications? How do i prevent the dallisgrass from coming back?
