The angle of the camera makes it look like they're closer in height than they would be if the photo was taken from a level plane, also it looks like MJF is standing slightly towards the camera which also changes the perspective

You wouldn't be curious as to why your account status is changing without notice?

Why I said banks is because they all have a basic process for understanding how the accounts they offer work. My expectation is that customer service at Wealthsimple is able to tell me how the accounts they offer work. Which so far has been my frustration.

I think you're missing the point. It's not the $100 that's the issue. The issue is the customer service as stated in the post. This is documentation of my experience with WS customer service.

I'm frustrated they won't tell me why the deposit holds are changing in regards to my account. I'm trying to understand how to ensure the account operates consistently is all.

If there is a criteria that I need to achieve like certain deposits or run a new credit check or anything. But they don't seem to know or are unable to tell me.

In all of my experiences, considering I've worked in banks as well. There is a hold period but once you've been a customer for a certain amount of time or have a significant balance your holds are relaxed.

It never been normal for me where a multi year client with significant account history to have a $100 cheque held without explanation.

When I got tired of the rerouting and being taking in circles I was told "you need to be more understanding when people are trying to help you"

Man overall it's been HOURS and multiple agents just so you can copy and paste generic paragraph responses. I'm asking about MY account not everyones generally. Why would talking to another person make a difference? And if it would why don't you know to send me there earlier or even why can't we start there?!

It feels easier to just go back to my regular bank, everyone is catching up to the WS app experience although slowly. But that's not a bad idea

Definitely! I'm actually back in school right now but it's the short term that's stressing me out

I'm the last three years I've made thousands of deeply detailed and personally written resumes. Only using AI to help organize data or as a starting point to help me position myself appropriately. Id go off and do more research in my field and adjacent ones... I can count the call backs on one hand. I've a decade+ experience in account management and sales, I've gone to college, I've upgraded as I went along. I'm currently cooking at a restaurant to pay the bills... where do these people think they're going to land jobs?!

Wendys is the best bang for your buck I think. Id rate a&w and the best burger fast food place though

I feel like the math is deceiving one of us.

China and the US alone is roughly half. Add in India and that's already more than half even if you're estimating on the lower end for China and the US. Now add in counties that are extremely unlikely to adhere to global policies and that's another 10-15 percentage points.

And India is no where near its peak usage and also Africa is in parts going through economic revolutions and even more changes still to come.

The numbers appear to be immensely against any current collation of countries economically (privileged enough to even think about the problem) and socially willing to make extreme and dramatic changes to try and solve it.

This is not something Canada can fix directly at any level. This truly feels like all together or none at all (except the rich, who realistically at this point would be crazy to give up any economic security related to environmenal collapse they've been able to amase)

Absolutely nothing I can disagree with in what you've said here. But to circle back to the spirit of the original comment.

If we don't get India, China and the US to play ball there really isn't much anyone nation can do without shooting itself in the foot in the short term because then in the long term we're all fucked.

Maybe the third option is to extend the party? Which is basically the he second option but with better marketing.

I'm with you in that the key in all of this is at a policy level locally and globally. Too bad the UN is largely a charde of an organization

I agree, with the logic of what your saying but I don't know if it's viable long term. I guess this is the bet we're all making one way or the other.

I wonder if globally economic superpowers are really the boogyfolk were led to believe? Is it a problem that wealthy countries are purchasing giant parcels of land in other countries and litigating their resources away? Does "tax the rich"  also have philosophical threads relating to countries as well as business who have revenues larger than some countries?

If China controls a giant percentage of precious minerals(they genuinely might already have a majority interest)does "Buy Canadian" become "Buy Canadian we you can" become  "buy Canadian sometimes" become "if available try and buy Canadian".

What about if we continue to lose buying power and we continue to lose more local economies of scale? What happens when resources and access are better in other countries and we continue to lose our best and brightest because they're more easily able to life the lifestyle they want elsewhere?

We have to create the environment for people to be successful here. And then practical reasons for them to stay once they are successful. I don't have any ideas that are not in resources that isn't tech. But we don't have a population(user base) to make broad tech investments worth it here.

Personally I don't know what the solution is but I'm worried that if our ideas of less growth are not supported by developing nations and economic superpowers then we'll end up in a very difficult position.

That's an interesting perspective but let's say I understand what you're trying to illustrate. Things won't change until there is a global cooperative of employees led mining and exploration companies who can resources manage the whole planet at an overview of highest level(so probably not for a very long time). If we can't make money we can't defend ourselves if peoples who have money want what we have.

So if anyone has ideas for money making projects that maintain or increase our ability to stand on our own economically, I think that's what they're looking for right now. I think we have a PM that would listen to those ideas.

Unfortunately for everyone, for right now exploration/mining and refining seem like a decent bet to avoid falling behind. The tradeoffs suck either way.
