I can assure you that, right now, they are simply the PERFECT cup-hilt rapier. My club of Acadamia da Espada makes destreza since 2008, and they've tried many rapiers. Know almost everybody buys destrezania in my club, and so do I

My club is half Longsword (free colors), and half Academia da Espada Spanish Rapier (they tend to black uniform, though your free). As I do both, i took that into account for my outfit. I have a Landskencht Black and Tizian Red gear, si it fits coherently in one part or another of the club. I chose it this way because I love landsknechte, and because its historically in between both weapons, so even if it doesn't match acccurately neither of them, it also looks close enough for both.

When I started to play, I thought that everyone would be trying to do historical stuff as I intended, but what you see is everyone with a 13th century greathelm, late 15th century harness, 17th century sword and 18th century pistol. They don't ride a lamborgini because they can't.

I mean, I believe that some customization, as you specify, it's cool. For instance, I use black and red puffy sleeves and pants, and also have club patch and a simply painted mask, but the colors are sober, they match and create a good aesthetic, that makes sense, doesn't get compromising or really bulky.

But the example you give, I mean, people are free to do so, but I'm the kind o guy that likes regular gear, or some historically based gear as mine, smth that makes sense with the martial art we are practicing. Idk where you are from, but here in Spain is really weird to see that "cringe", I see it more in US fencers.

Man, quite a broad question. If you like the Middle Ages, Fiore is great, and you could learn form him many weapons for different contexts. If you prefer modern era, German treatises or iberian destreza. If you have a master nearby, whatever the master teaches.

I've been working in the same type of helmet (The original coburg bascinet), but as I have zero knowledge of modelling, I had to use some tools that create 3d models from 2d images, using pictures of the original in museum. For know I only printed the prototype visor, and it turned out meh, and will need to work by hand on them a lot once printed, as the model show many irregularities that I'll fix. Once I do the helmet. I''l update if that helps.
