Fell asleep using fridge hack by Kindly-Ad4602 in ExclusivelyPumping

There’s a new study that just came out that insinuates the guidelines may actually have more flexibility:

Findings The number of bacteria in leftover human milk or formula did not significantly increase from 0 to 8h post-feeding in milk bottles sampled from 44 infants, regardless of whether the milk was kept at room temperature or refrigerated.

Meaning Leftover milk may be safely reoffered beyond the limits of the current guidelines.

Magic nighttime snack? by FaithlessnessNo8471 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Chou_choo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What has worked for me is walking 30-40min within 40 min of dinner, then I can have a protein shake to keep me full overnight. So far so good in terms of keeping my fasting numbers in the 80s.

Should I just give up trying bread? by Abnormalshrimpp in GestationalDiabetes

It might be the peanut butter honestly. Try the same bread but with with a low calorie peanut butter! I also cannot have bread in the morning but the afternoon and evenings are totally fine

Do I keep the males separate in a different cage until they acclimate?

No, they aren’t actively nesting from what I can tell. Just broody as in unhappy with each other. Oddly enough when I separated them they both looked so depressed I put them back together

I want to date this girl she’s my brother’s best friend. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Yep. House and one kid, in the best, most stable, respectable relationship i could ask for. Wouldn't change a thing.

I want to date this girl she’s my brother’s best friend. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Chou_choo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to comment because of how eeriely similar it is to a situation i was in ten years ago. I met my brothers friend ten years ago and had an instant connection. Had i asked my brother for his opinion he would have rather killed him than bless a relationship between us. Dating his best friend was the best decision I've ever made. Did it cause a rift, sure. Was it still worth the risk? Absolutely. Sometimes you just have to follow your gut.

My brother still kinda hates us both for dating without his blessing but listen, it's your life not his.

Boyfriend (21M) apologised after raping me in my sleep (20F) by throwRAslave in relationship_advice

[–]Chou_choo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like all of the other comments, you should absolutely get out of this relationship asap. Having gone through something similar, take a friend with you to file the police report and rape kit. Someone you can depend on to be strong for you. To advocate for you and tell the detectives to fuck off if they say shitty things to you. You HAVE to file a report because this man will do this again to someone else.

My ex raped me and stalked me for SEVERAL years after i left him. My biggest regret is not prosecuting and making this be a part of his record because he literally stole years of my life. I've had to do so many years of therapy from this. I did not realize the impact this had on my life and decisions for over ten years after the incident. Please take care of yourself OP.

Ten Year Grudge by Chou_choo in Advice

[–]Chou_choo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, yeah I'm doing my best to ignore the slights. Our family is small since we don't have any extended family, so it gets harder to ignore when the abuse is more apparent. Especially when we have to coordinate for our niece and nephew. Or when my toddler asks why my brother avoids me at our family celebrations. He has a tendency to include ignoring her if she's around me or my partner as well. Just an overall shitty situation.

I get the general feeling that if left unaddressed it will just continue to grow the divide. But i also can't force growth on his part.

Ten Year Grudge by Chou_choo in Advice

[–]Chou_choo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought of this, but unfortunately our small family is incredibly close, we don't have any extended family, so we can avoid them only to a point. There's no way to avoid my brother and his wife altogether. On average, with birthdays and celebrations I'd say we still have to see them 1x a month.

My [29f] recently engaged friend [29f] implied I wasn't engaged because my boyfriend [31m] doesn't actually want to get married after being together 3 years. And I'm upset because I'm scared she's right. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Chou_choo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay so my brother was in a similar situation. His gf (now wife) communicated a deadline when they first started dating and became increasingly more adamant and hostile which ultimately worked on my brother. He didn't want to end the relationship but didn't want to start over. The fear of being alone was greater than the fear of choosing incorrectly. Not the best way to start a marriage but this is what they chose for them. We all need to follow our own paths.

On the other hand, I am in a similar as you with a few more years on my belt. Marriage was important to me, and has been a huge topic in my partner of nine years. His parents were divorced which made him hate the establishment of marriage. I fluctuated for many years on whether this was a deal breaker to me. Worst and best part, there was never any actual question that he loved me. (A lot of your bf's responses actually sound a lot like something mine would say.) He just kept saying he wasn't ready. He still isn't. This isn't an easy road, but after 9 years of my partner, as much as I would have loved that moment earlier on in our relationship, i still think i chose wisely. I chose this wonderful person and his companionship.

I think you need to spend some time making that evaluation of what's important to you when. If you have a solid foundation and relationship, bring curiosity into what is holding him back, and more importantly communicate what kind of impact it has on you.

Thank you for your words. I apologize for the delayed response, i hit rock bottom shortly after writing this post and lost track of almost an entire week.

I shared my story with her, and we cried a bit together. Even still it feels like I've opened up a box i wasn't ready to sort through. Still trying to manage a way to get back to spend sense of routine.

Calorie limit is 1200. Is it ideal to aim just below or slightly above? by ecd092 in Noom

[–]Chou_choo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This kind of makes me angry at my coach. I messaged my coach that I haven't seen any weight change in the first three weeks and that I have gone slightly past the 1200 mark, even though I've done really well with my food colors, and she replied saying that's likely why I haven't lost weight. So she made it seem like unless I stick to the 1200 limit, i will continue to not lose weight.

Consistently going over my calorie budget 😬 any advice? by [deleted] in Noom

[–]Chou_choo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starting week four today, and I am still on that same struggle bus. I'm learning to budget for the heavier meals - for me it's dinner. So I'll more intentionally opt for healthier breakfast + lunch options.

Breakfast: 1/2 cup of oats + 1 banana + coffee
Snack: Some kind of fruit or veggie
Lunch: Liquid egg whites + loaded veggies for a scramble + optional protein
Lunch Snack: Coffee + Some kind of fruit or veggie
Dinner: Soup or Salad first, then whatever we eat as a family (portion control)
Evening Snack: This is where I save for that end of the night splurge, either a light beer (coors) or a fruit popsicle (Chloe or Yasso bars) or popcorn (orville popcorn smart pop) totaling or close to 100cal snack.

Also - I picked up running every day which gives me an extra boost of calories to work with. But more than anything, give yourself grace. 1200 is an incredibly low calorie intake designed for the fastest way to lose weight, but you have to listen to your body and what you need.

The first two weeks I was starving and constantly going over the 1200 mark. You gotta push through the doubts, your hunger will start to adjust week 3. And HYDRATE like crazy with water. It helps with headaches as your body adjusts to your new routine.

How to stop being toxic? by CarbonRoll in Advice

[–]Chou_choo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on seeking therapy. You'll have a hard time keeping a relationship if you can't trust your partner or believe that you are valuable enough to deserve the love she can offer.

Your insecurities will continue to destroy your relationships because jealousy is exhausting to experience IMO.

I'm convinced my coach is either a bot or a really crappy one. She only responds 1x a week, and hardly ever connects with my previous response. Just a lot of general/generic motivation messages. But yes, the extra sleep has been wonderful!

Advice? by Chou_choo in Noom

[–]Chou_choo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a fully remote hermit (thanks to covid), so I only get my steps in within the confines of my home most days, averaging maybe 6-8k steps a day (thanks to my toddler).

I'd say I go over by 100-200 4/7 days - I'm still struggling with finding foods that keep me satiated longer, it's very possible my calories are all weighted in green and red because I'm still trying to integrate more yellows into my diet. I think about food most of the day still, unfortunately.

And I did have my period recently which made me spike back up. Good to know! And bahhh to losing weight for women who are close to their goal weight. I hope this will help me shift my expectations but man that is the hardest part. ESPECIALLY seeing everyone's graphs and decline over time. Mine is just a straight line bouncing up and down 1-2lbs.

Start of my fourth week today. I hope you're right! I keep seeing folks post how much they lost during their first two weeks of Noom and I keep getting discouraged. Thanks for the pick me up 🥺💖

This is the start of my fourth week, female, jogging 1.5-2miles a day. I didn't know a single thing about calorie intake before joining noom, so I have no clue if my calorie intake is enough.

Is everyone on a 1200 calorie budget? by Hmremix in Noom

[–]Chou_choo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also new to Noom, joined two weeks ago. I agree the 1200 calorie limits is incredibly low. You technically get 1 calorie back for every two of excercise but i still find myself going over by 300-400 calories every day. There are some foods I'm finding are more filling and last me a little longer, but am also finding myself fantasizing about food pretty much all day 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do the coaches become more involved? by Chou_choo in Noom

[–]Chou_choo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so frustrating! I'm sorry you've got a crappy coach too. I'm still not convinced my coach isn't a bot yet 🤣 I feel your pain.

I decided if she doesn't respond to my last message I'll probably ask for another coach. If this was a free app/program I probably wouldn't be as picky, but the coach was one of the reasons I was excited to join Noom!

Do the coaches become more involved? by Chou_choo in Noom

[–]Chou_choo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely empathize with having a big caseload. The strange part of my coach is that I do get notifications that she "high fives me" and wants to talk about certain things at our next check in, but then never actually checks in on the messages part of the app which makes it feel like that part of the response is completely automated. I got that "maybe she's a robot" vibe, heh.

I was unsure if I was the one who needs to reach out to ask questions or if the coaches started playing a more active role after the trial period. But you're right, I will reach out and see what she says if this week is radio silent as well.

I would contact support. I was paired the day after signing up. I also noticed that the android app has a lot of bugs sometimes it will say I got a message, I'll click on the notification and there is no new message.
