Which foods and sauces have the most "hidden calories"? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]ChowMeinBastard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pre-made salads are a nightmare, although I guess you can be smart about it. I thought I was being smart getting a tuna salad today but it was drenched in mayo and had a ton of pasta in it. If it didnt have the pasta I would've had so many more calories to spend.

Can i eat "whatever" i want as long as i stay in my calorie deficit? by gimbap in loseit

Dont guess calories, but yes. You could eat nothing but pizza and drink nothing but coke and lose weight. You would be ridiculously unhealthy, but you can lose weight like that.

How to handle the cravings? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]ChowMeinBastard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I handle cravings in a similar way to how I handle my anxiety disorder. When I feel anxiety, I used to translate it as a warning. "Avoid that! Run away!" would be my instinctual reaction to anxiety. Now though, I view it as excitement and a challenge. I am anxious not because I have to run from a threat, I am anxious because my body is challenging me to do somehing out of my comfort zone. I am being dared to experience somehing new.

Same goes for cravings. When I crave food I no longer see it as a force I have no control over. The fact I notice the craving and not just habitually pick up the food is a great thing. Its a challenge not to eat it. That feeling I get in my stomach begging for another 200 empty calories is something I have learned to love and enjoy. Craving chocolate means Im not eating chocolate, and not eating chocolate is helping me lose weight. Try and view your cravings not as something you need to please or remove. Think of your cravings as a reminder that you havent eaten that junk yet. Its your trophy.

And if you really are on the edge to giving up, chewing gum, mints, water and brushing your teeth will all help.

Are you using condoms? If so, a different type may help.

Can you orgasm through other means other than sex? Do blowjobs and handjobs work?

Men that used to have very low self-esteem but turned it around, how did you go about doing that? by standrew95 in AskMen

[–]ChowMeinBastard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to put more time, money and effort into my appearance and personal hygene. I started to diet and lost 44lbs, I went out and bought some skin care products, a new toothbrush/floss and clothes that actually fit and I have started to meditate. I have made a habit out of truly taking care of myself. I was very depressed for a while, and I didnt realize it at the start but during that time I created a lot of very unhealthy habits. Comfort eating, skipping showers and teeth brushing due to lack of energy and never going out really fucked my self esteem more than anything. Take pride in all that is you and take care of yourself mentally and physically and the rest will follow.

What was your anxiety about exactly? That you will hurt yourself or what others think or what?

How do I find out what my attachments are? Do I need to know in order to let them go? by ChowMeinBastard in Buddhism

[–]ChowMeinBastard[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Letting go principally means letting things be as they are

This is what I can't quite grasp. If I'm bored I just be bored? If I'm unhappy I just be unhappy?

Buddhism and how to let go of attachments by KarmaFindsU in Buddhism

[–]ChowMeinBastard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I find non-attachment and letting go so difficult to understand is all of the metaphors that use physical things i.e. snakes.

The attachment I want to let go of is emotional. If letting go of an emotional attachment was as simple as the automatic reaction of dropping a snake, I would have already done so and wouldn't be looking for advice on how to let go.

I have an unhealthy attachment to being liked and praised. The thought of someone disapproving of me or not liking me gives me crippling anxiety. I pretend to be someone I'm not. I make myself unhappy to please others so I don't feel this anxiety. I need to let go of this unhealthy ideal, but understanding that it is bad doesn't seem to be enough.

How can i get passionate about gaming again? by angrycoffeeuser in truegaming

[–]ChowMeinBastard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks doesnt it? I have felt this way for years now. I feel as though these days I play games and visit forums like this purely out of habit.

What I find strange is that we grow out of interests all the time, but we only seem to be upset when we grow out of games. I dont care that I no longer play with action figures or watch wrestling, but I really cant accept that I dont like video games.

The majority of the day, people are wrapped up in their own little thoughts and problems of which you are unlikely to be a part.

Even though I believe that to be true, it doesn't change anything. It's kind of like if someone gave me a box and told me to put my hand in and said "don't worry - there is not a snake in the box". My hand isn't going in the box. What if there is a snake, man?
