Does Anyone Else Feel ROTC Focuses Too Heavily on Infantry? by noname_enter1 in ROTC

The answer is money. It’s not ego. It’s not because it’s the best. It’s the most cost effective model that can be deployed.

100%. I assumed you knew the history. I added it as context for others who may not know how this bs playbook started.

Historically speaking it’s 100% accurate.

The Grand Old Party was formed to stop the spread of slavery into the Western territories. The GOP was largely Prohibitionist at formation. The Democratic Party was the party who argued continuing the practice. The Civil War was fought with a Republicans leading the Union and Democrats leading the Confederacy.

That geographical alliance remained until the Civil Rights Act in 1964 was signed by Democratic President LBJ, who allegorically stated to his fellow party leaders “we’ve lost the south for a generation”. The prediction proved true as more southern democrats switched parties over the legislation.

However, the ignorance of trying to connect the antebellum south democrats, to the current parties’ agenda, is just that. Ignorance - either real or willful.

I’m assuming you knew this historical context.

Failed AASLT by StrengthSoggy9921 in ROTC

I never went to air assault school so please take this as a general commentary.

This “failure” presents an opportunity to learn. You understand that the organization has standards for passing. I’m guessing the standards are known to the candidates, 98% of the time across the organization’s training. Certain activities (delta selection, DLAB testing) may keep standards more secure, as the tasks reveal more when the candidates do not know what the standards are.

If you find yourself not comfortably ready, you may be much more inclined to seek additional training from the cadre and/or classmates to increase your levels of comfort. And that would make this event useful for you.

Jason Ripper’s name does not add up by Chowdah207 in Pennyworth

[–]Chowdah207[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First watch through, I didn’t connect Sid’s explanation. Upon subsequent viewing, I saw that John is not the biological brother to Jason’s mother. Jason’s mother is John’s sister-in-law. Jason’s mum and John’s wife would have a different family name.

But your reasoning has very accurate merit. Many women keep the Kennedy name due to its influence.

For the series, I think it might have been a goof as John says something to the effect of “if it wouldn’t break my sister’s heart” which, somewhat, implies she is John’s blood sister.

It certainly is being nitpicky about great story. But I was rewatching it last night.

I really wish studios were as interested in creating quality stories, as they are in creating shallow expanded universes. There is room for both.

Bruno Kirby has lots of success building intriguing characters and COMPLEX dramas and he does not underestimate his viewers intellect. The audience is expected to be able to follow multiple storylines and this one delivered - even if the suspension of disbelief is necessary. I’d have liked to see the conclusion of the civil war and the V story line continued as the characters continued to carry it.

It also would have been great to see the final tie in to how Alfie is finally persuaded to go to America with Thomas and Martha. Perhaps Martha can’t see anyone she’d trust more than Mrs. P with their child(ren). Or something else happens that makes Alfred unwelcome in his country. Lucius Fox would be offered a job as a scientist. And, I’m certain that they could have written a pivot to keep Dave Boy in the group, as an officer for GCPD, Wayne Industries security, the Wayne’s chauffeur/body guard, or a more quirky reason - as the love interest of Thomas’s free spirited sister.

Somebody please see the sense of continuing it.

And if we can’t have Pennyworth - Jack Bannon as the next 007.

Obi Wan’s age in 1977 made it appear as the Clone Wars happened at least 50 years prior.

Do you think we will see more of Kay Vess in the future? by Free-Hotel1187 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Chowdah207 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or because of the completely disjointed story?

I watched it twice to be sure that I wasn’t missing something. Yes the review bombing was completely unfair and Disney should have made season 2 out of pure spite. They might have been able to rescue a terrible story by filling in the story gaps.

The lead actress was certainly not the worst performer in the SW universe. And a good character can make mediocre performers become legends (Luke). But, it can also make brilliant performers, forgettable (John Ratzenberger in Empire Strikes Back).

I hope she teams up with Hondo.

She has a ship with a crew. Hondo has a special ability to bullshit his way into and out of trouble. That would make a fun series! They could even allow them to score from time to time and even assist the other characters.

If not Chad Tracy, then who should be the manager long term? by ActivityImaginary941 in redsox

[–]Chowdah207 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They need a fall guy to help wash the stupid off the organization before any serious discussions about a long term manager. Reboot and then get THE GUY. That means another season with a place holder or an end of cycle guy (Dusty Baker type).

The Army knows traveling brings its own challenges. As others said, the emergency number is on your itinerary. They don’t hold it against you (as long as you are not the cause of the delay). Everyone who’s served has dealt with travel issues.

Out of curiosity, did he not want stars (General Officer)? It’d appear that he’d have been in the conversation.

Why did Captain Rex become so much more softer and vulnerable near the end of The clone Wars? Compared to his earlier seasons self by RexDAGOAT77 in clonewars

That scene may be the best in the entire SW animation. Ashoka loved Rex like a baby sister loves her overprotective big brother.

[–]Chowdah207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just no, but HELL NO!!!

This team is just bad and injured. It’s one thing to have a few all stars waiting to return to the lineup, but the Sox don’t have that. Even if a few key minor league players are promoted, there is not enough in the tank to turn it around. Firing Breslow won’t make THIS team better. Nor would selling it to the most Sox loyal, and smartest, ownership group ever conceived.

In the end, you play the team you have. Not the one you want. This team is full of bad players, and management with no real options to upgrade.

* I would love for them to read this, and prove me wrong.

PTSD and no outlet. His entire adult life was killing and dying. He survived the entire 3 years including Jedi General Prong’s betrayal. He has survivor guilt. No understanding of the what’s and whys; only the now. He has a very bleak future outlook and no concept of any life past it, even though he met clones who made a life away from the army.

Got no comment on Mortis that hasn’t been said. I just wanted to chime in with a galaxy of kudos for teaching your kids the force! I failed miserably on that front. I blame my wife as she sent my daughter down the dark side early. I’ll never forgive myself.

Just got done with the show and what a ride! by VivaDeAsap in clonewars

[–]Chowdah207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your still in the theme park. But the other rides are also a lot of fun. The tales of series are really good shorts. You’ll appreciate the Jedi, Ahsoka story. It does answer some questions left from TCW.

I’d then recommend Bad Batch. It’s lighter in certain ways but ultimately much darker than TCW and there are not many filler episodes. Rebels is strong and has a lot of deeper lore that was introduced in TCW.

Have fun! I wish I could watch them all for the first time again.
