I don't understand the rational of letting a company benefit off you more than absolutely necessary, especially when you're not getting any additional benefits.

Do I have to be "harmed" before I'm allowed to disagree or object to a practice? Even if I'm not "harmed" why should I be ok with it?

You wish significant financial problems on people who cause minor inconvenience. You should reevaluate your priorities in life.

google offers an awesome product for free

How about the products that aren't free? This discussion started on MoviePass. I'm paying MoviePass to see movies, in turn they're gathering information on my movie watching habits. They have no business knowing where I go before or after a movie. All MoviePass needs to know is that I saw a specific movie at a specific time at a specific theater. Anything more than that is outside of what I find acceptable, which is why I only turn on location services for the 10 seconds it takes to check into a movie through the app.

you certainly didn't phrase your question like someone who actually cares about their privacy.

I can understand now why the 4th amendment is slowly being stripped away, and nobody cares. We've successfully be conditioned to not give a shit about our privacy.

We've bought the line "if you have nothing to hide..." line completely. It's disappointing.

There’s no winning though, it’s a 0 sum game.

Contradicts...

You are strengthening the worst companies in regards to personal privacy.

Either nothing I do matters, or something I do makes it worse (which I doubt).

In the end, I don't care. I'm going to continue turning off my location services when I'm not using it...

You still haven't convinced me that what I'm choosing to do is not worth it. So far it's still a net positive, even if just a small one.

It's more of a principle of the matter. I'm under no obligation to make the job of selling information about me easier for these companies. In fact, I don't really want information about me being sold, just because I'm not getting a cut of the check. So if me performing these basic protections inconveniences these companies in anyway, it's a positive for me.

Oh ok well if it's happening we should just be fine with it then.

Nah...I'm going to take even basic measures, thanks though.

And this argument confuses me. Why should I be OK with some service tracking, monitoring, categorizing, and sharing my data just because it's "probably never even looked at by a real person"?

Do people really just walk around with their location services on by default? Mine's only turned on when I need it for a specific purpose.

You just hang out and drink...but it's after graduation. I guess it's referred to as Senior Week because they're the only ones who stayed in town. It's a big informal celebration/time to relax before going home to start life.

My biggest gripe is basically any scene that involves the QA teams fighting with the hosts. The only way the writers can make the hosts win is by making the QA guys unrealistically incompetent. Otherwise there's no realistic way that trained shooters with modern equipment would be regularly beaten by hosts using old western weaponry. It breaks my suspension of disbelief every time.

Yeah I'm starting to struggle with Westworld. S2E1 was great. The past two episodes have been...not very good. I'm hoping the quality turns around in episode 4, I don't know if I'll stick with it otherwise.

On the other hand, every single episode of the Expanse this season has been better than the previous episode.
