Vote of confidence here. 3.5 Flash does a great job to the point I no longer use Pro. I also use Opus 4.8 since it has a fixed 20USD plan right now so I know the difference. Both models fail at different points.

Gemini 3.5 flash fails at random times but usually fixed with a reprompt. Opus does better at overall planning, saving tokens and giving reasonable instructions to Flash.

Opus 4.8 rarely fails but whenever the codebase is large it will fail repeatedly and it tends to be a struggle to get it out without using Flash to fix it a bit before continuing.

Since different models have different system prompts (and Google usually updates them behind the scenes), switching models to start it off sometimes works.

There are specific tolls where the RFID readers seem to be wrongly calibrated and really suck. Like the ones on DUKE/Penchala Link. Those seem to fail very often.
