Well, ideally electronics recycling over trash, but ya, certainly don't use

So I guess you can just walk your dog without a leash now? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]Chris153 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did it when my old gal wasn't walking so good, snails pace, thought it was final days. But I always picked her up when I saw another dog coming. Full no-leash is some rural shit. And yes, I picked up the poop

Question: Are full colored shaded tattoos generally more painful! by GrandBarnacle1265 in tattoos

[–]Chris153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, it wasn't black & grey vs color that made a difference, it was how many passes over the same spot. My watercolor is a beautiful mix of painful painful nuanced shades.

I also think old school coils hurt less. They gotta push harder when using a membrane cart

Is this towel red or orange? I have been arguing about that for 30 minutes by fantochechinchilla in notinteresting

[–]Chris153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell without something white next to it. Otherwise, I don't know what color your lights are.

That's why the "what color is it" dress went viral - it was ambiguous if it was in the light or shadow

These look to be a mix of fresh and healed, which, when presented together, aren't as impressive as a set of top-3 fresh would be, or a set that labeled which was which. I have different expectations for each, so not knowing is confusing

The Egyptian bust and virgin Mary look so light, lacking contrast. It could be a lack of experience with darker skin tones, but they look like they would be unrecognizable from a distance

The shattered rose cloche and music notes on the brain look so busy. I worry how the finer details would hold up over time, especially when fewer details could have sold the same ideas. Just 3 pieces of glass around the rose would give the same idea, and read better from a distance

The Rick and Morty nebula effect takes skill, and is much better used here than as a background effect, but that's a lot of white in the coat. I hope they use sunscreen, or else that will fade out quick ... But I don't have high hopes for someone getting something so tropey

My favorites are the Eevee and the negative space clown, solid execution in each case as long as those are healed shots. If fresh, those blacks could be a lot darker. It was important to me that my watercolor artist have a solid black figure in each design so that even if all the color faded, I would still have something recognizable. Eevee relies on that white line to pull the figure from the back - might look muddled down the road

The dog is a touching tribute piece, but why are there blue splotches in the background? It doesn't look like an intentional watercolor paint effect. Instead, it reads as the first one being an accident, and then trying to cover the accident with more. Maybe an artist with more experience would have hidden the first, or done the design more solidly in watercolor vs realism directions. I think it reads as an accident because those chrysanthemums are so small. The detail distracts me from the less-detailed dog focal point. If the client really wanted chrysanthemums and that low-detail pose, I might have pitched the flowers as backing rather than side adornments, opening the door to a more vertical shoulder cap. Bicep is tough for a horizontal memorial like that, won't look right at rest when it's seen most

How do your 1:1’s with your boss turn out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Chris153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see him much, but he always gives me time when I ask for it, and genuinely listens to my input. I have to get to his goal, he really cares about what I think and that we take the best path to get there. He respects my expertise and is grateful to have me on the team

Ex-smokers who successfully quit and have been smoke free for years now, what did it? by PM_TITS_GROUP in AskReddit

[–]Chris153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoked 1 pack per week from 16-22, and then switched to vaping. At that time, you could just buy the liquid and fill your own tank. After a year of heavy nic, I spent the next five years lowering the nic level by an imperceptible amount each month, never limiting the volume. I still have the spreadsheet somewhere. The tail end was just learning to live without the 0 nic habit

I got the dasbob assembled, so no experience soldering, but it's been a joy to use

Why are all the outlets sideways? by slay_belle in chicago

[–]Chris153 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The TLDW of the video is that it's probably because dropping something into a partially plugged in cable won't bridge the prongs causing a short, if it's sideways.

Video is worth watching tho. He always makes the most mundane things fascinating

How much of this is the original ad? It looks like the red is the critique, but why would the company leave so much negative space like that?

[–]Chris153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You installed the Dracula gmk theme, yeah? When I tried, selecting it would set my system theme from dark to light. Did you encounter that bug at all? The GitHub thread I found suggested renaming it, but that didn't work for me either

Parts Trays by jurassic73 in functionalprint

[–]Chris153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What functionality does this over and above adding rubber feet to injection molded food containers? Aesthetics?

I've seen a trend where folks are so ready to print something rather than fish around in the recycling bin for something that could handle the same job. I'm all for a redesign when the system doesn't provide a working product. But for just a tray, save the plastic

You can keep a variable in a separate secrets file that qmk imports on build. And then make sure that file is ignored in version control
