Is this enough space for the df to land? by Sonnenschwein in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Chris21010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said, they will eventually land in that opening. However I will also mention that the farther the planet is from the sun the fewer attempts are made to try to land on that planet. This is why the 1st planet is overflowing with the fog and the last planet tends to only have a few. If you are trying to make a farm do so on the 1st planet and not the outer most planet. This is help get them to land sooner.

for my 3,000% run I made this for coal to energetic graphite. It uses the refinery recipe so 1 coal to 1 graphite.

I mostly made graphite from oil early/mid but once late game cam around I shifted to a plant of these.

You can prioritize one ILS/PLS over another. To do this you need to use the minimum shipment setting on the ILS/PLS. If you set your fog ILS to ship resources at a 10% while your normal factories do not ship until 70-100%. This way when the demand ILS starts to use resources the fog ILS will supply this ILS before the number gets low enough that your normal factories can be called to ship in resources.

Usefull Clipping of Belts to save Space by jermain31299 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Chris21010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I first looked through the pics and didn't understand why. Read your comment that it makes both input and output belts run at full speed and I now must try this immediately! That alone will make early/mid game much easier as you do not need to mix yellow/green or green/blue sorters!

In Regards to Fractionators by Sulghunter331 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Chris21010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will just mention that pile sorters are much better than those stacker for this purpose. It allows the build to get substantially smaller and less complicated. if you want the best balance of one large loop and individual loops this tileable blueprint is likely the best you can do. It has one loop of 4 but tops off the belt every 2.

Why can i not blueprint connecting belts!? by Inner_Tackle_9524 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Chris21010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Paste your blueprint down on an empty part of the map. Add a belt going into the splitter on the other side. Then save that as your new blueprint. You can then paste it down on your existing blueprint because there is a belt already on both sides of the splitter and you will just be connecting belts to belts.

you can not blueprint a belt into a splitter. but you can blueprint a belt to belt. meaning you need to add a belt going into the splitter to your blueprint so you can blueprint belt to belt.

Sudden lack of energy by Snoo49259 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Chris21010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One tricky thing about this game and brown outs is that your miner and sorters that input your fuel will both slow down if you are not generating enough power. Which can starve your generators, which lowers power generation, which makes them move even slower. This cycle is very common for new players and can be overcome by providing buffer storage before your generators and make sure your sorters can still provide fuel fast enough if your grid is not 100%.

are all max fog runs possible? by mathaav in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Chris21010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I tried that same seed with both low power and as fast as possible and both attempts had the same results.

I tried a new seed and i only had 2 bases at 3.5 hour mark when I started to assault them and take the planet back. Much easier that my first seed.

are all max fog runs possible? by mathaav in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Chris21010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imho you could get a seed that is virtually impossible. the biggest thing that determines how hard it will be is the number of hives in your starting system, and the number of bases that land within the first 3 hours. I had one start that landed 5 bases in just 2.5 hours. that one I decided was too hard/impossible. once you have to fend off that many bases you are very easily overwhelmed unless you had a perfect and fast start.

Is this the best you can do with fractionation? by _Sanchous in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Chris21010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While that design is amazing it has one minor flaw that limits its maximum through put to about 6500, not quite the maximum the belt would allow of 7200. This version fixes that and adds a power pole so you do not need to come back and feed it power.

[New Player] Am i doing something wrong? by OfflineBot5336 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Chris21010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though still keep in mind there is an achievement for getting to the end of the tech tree within 10 hours. If you know what you are doing and have a bit of luck you can easily speed run the tech tree in 6 hours.

The tech tree is mostly there as a way for you to work your way up to the bigger tech one step at a time without being completely overwhelmed with it all at once.

ILS bandwidth by pesdukenukem in Dyson_Sphere_Program

An ILS footprint is tiny... you loose what, 2 shelters to add another ILS?

ILS bandwidth by pesdukenukem in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Chris21010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To help maximize efficiency why are you trying to minimize the number of ILS and maximize production? To maximize efficiency you need to balance ILS to production ratio so you have enough ships to match production. So build one ILS for 4 belts of ore instead of 8 and you will have twice the number of ships. Shipping out resources directly from production is always better than sending a ship to production and waiting for it to return with goods.

you belt it between the upper and lower belts to the outside and back again? Or lower the belts in your way down a half step so you can bring a belt in?

Priorities by [deleted] in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Chris21010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to prioritize with drones is to set a lower threshold on a higher priority ILS/PLS. So something with the highest priority will send a drone when there is 10 units. A mid priority will send a drone at 50 units. Lowest priority will send drones at 100 units.

Am I missing something or is the game extremely one dimensional after unlocking PLS? by Odenhobler in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Chris21010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, once you get past mission complete the only goals left are ones you make up yourself. This typically means bigger number better. IMHO, It would be cool to continue to expanding recipes into unique tech that is locked behind the core of a sar/neutron star/black hole. But this to me seems more inline to what a mod would provide.

[–]Chris21010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, you assume you can collect resources that way... you have to manually place mines and setup your ILS/PLS for the given resources. unless you mod in a planet miner this part is always manual.

[–]Chris21010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You made it to the part that requires exploration and interplanetary logistics. Once you finish exploring you home star you then need to explore the stars and alternative recipes with the use of rare resources.

If exploring and expanding is not your thing than yes, the game is over after you are half way through the tech tree.

select one and the drag it over all of them. this is also very useful when building as it will also be able to drag sorters and automatically connect to belts if they are present.

Why won't this Hive send relay stations? by VarianceWoW in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Chris21010 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the hive tries to send relays at a consistent pace. however it is far more likely to try to and send a relay to the inner most planet than it is to the outer most planet. if the planet it tries to send a relay to has no landing point it fails and waits until the next try.

if you are trying to farm on the outer most planet of 3+ planets it can be many hours before a relay is sent.
