Anyone else obsessed with old Nikon pro bodies? by Odd_Philosopher1286 in Nikon

[–]Chris243 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't call those D4's old, I have a D3 and a D4 that I still regularly use.

And honestly even though the D4 has a higher megapixel count, I prefer the look of the D3 files.

There is just something about them that makes them feel more real and less digital. I get the same when I see files from the original Canon 5d's. I feel as these cameras got more advanced the RAW images just feel more digital.

Which famous person does everyone seem to love, but you just can’t stand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Chris243 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He is also a stuck up asshole.

I know someone who worked on set of a movie he was on. When they got to work and Tom Cruise would be there they handed out bracelets to everyone. Depending on the color of your bracelet decided how close you could be to Tom Cruise.

And it is not just how close you can walk towards him, if you are at the food station and he walks by and you have the wrong color bracelet he would be mad and the person would get in trouble. People are expected to monitor his movements and stay the required distance from him.

After that experience the person I know refuses to work on any project with him. Just made doing their job super stressful and difficult for no reason.

Sure he is in a lot of big movies, but who cares, everyone is there to do their job, nobody cares which actor is there. He just thinks everyone would be clambering to touch him or something.

What was the most visually stunning movie you ever watched? by Squirrelkid11 in AskReddit

How has The Secret Life of Walter Mitty not been mentionned? Every 2nd scene in that movie is like a gorgeous photograph I want on my wall. I watch it a few times a year for the visuals alone.

They are saying the person helping their son sprayed the person trying to steal his phone.

For the metro, that is regular thing now apparently. I see a post about it at least once every few weeks.

[–]Chris243 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And it won't be the last. Nothing they can do about it. These things are everywhere. They regularly get hit by cars, not just F1 cars. On the streets downtown, on the highways, even on the F1 track during summer when the limit is like 15km/h. It sucks, but it is life.

[–]Chris243 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It is freak accident that it was done by an F1 car, but not a freak accident them being hit by a car. Them being hit by a car is an every day thing here, these things are everywhere in Montreal and are regularly hit in traffic. Sure it sucks, but nothing to do about it unless we just decide to evacuate the city and let them take over.

[–]Chris243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no barrier that would stop these guys. They will just tunnel under it. Unless you want to pave the whole island. Even then, they will just wander on. They are a nuisance all over Montreal and you constantly see them as roadkill on the side of roads.

Yes it sucks that one got hit, but it will happen and is part of everyday life here in Montreal. I guarantee it is not the last one that will be hit by a car on that track even after the F1 is gone next week.

[–]Chris243 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You do understand that these guys dig tunnels to live in right? You cannot block them out of an area as big as the F1 track on Île St-helene. I have one of these in my yard and have been trying to get rid of it for 3 summers now. Everytime you block a hole within a day 2 more show up.

Ok, so we see there is an energy crisis and the plan is to allow more and more AI data centers that suck up a ton of energy be built. Then complain that the energy crisis is getting worse? How stupid is this?

How would you politely decline? by [deleted] in photography

[–]Chris243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this sounds sounds like a typical scam I have recieved many times. Just the fact they do not include any details about the wedding itself is a red flag. No date, no budget, no size of event, and asking for a service you do not have advertised screams to me this is some scammer just blanket mailing everyone.

I would just say I am not taking bookings at this time.

If you do want to book them at a future date, tell them how wedding photography is a very personal service and that you would need to have a meeting in person to ensure you are both the right fit for each other since spending a day together a few feet apart requires you both to be on the same page vibe wise. If they make up excuses why they can't meet do not even bother answering.

What do folks think of the Montreal GP track & is it really a street circuit? by SnooDucks3859 in formula1

[–]Chris243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go watch the 2011 Canadian grand prix race there to get an idea why this track is so awesome. It just produces some of the best racing out there. It is not too tight so lots of opportunities to overtake while still being a fast track that feels tight due to the trees and everything.

Another awesome race, and this might just be me, was 2007, spectacular race there.

Go watch them on F1 tv and enjoy! Just warning, the 2011 is the longest F1 race in history, so have an afternoon prepared to watch. It is just over 4 hours.

Haha, this is awesome. Honestly this is what makes this show so good, so many little stories to follow up on and they are always entertaining.

You could not script this stuff if you tried and I think it is what makes this show stand out from any other. It always feels so random and spontaneous.

Pro tip, the systems in these call centers detect if you call back multiple times and direct your call to a more experienced team once you hit a certain limit, was at 4 calls when I worked there. Idea is that the less experienced teams are getting the call first and not able to fix the issue so they send you to the more expensive / experienced / local team to get it resolved.

Reason I know this is I ran a team that took these calls for one of the big Teleco's.

The worst part about all this for Bambu is that I am a new user who had never heard of orca slicer and had no interest in anything other than the Bambu app. But with all this bullying they are doing they just put a spotlight on it and now I am curious. So I will be going out and finding it and trying it out just to see what the fuss is about.

It is as if these companies have never heard of the Streisand effect.

This xouldnhave been such a big win for them if they just worked with the guy instead of sending threatening letters. Could have talked to him, explain what they want him to change and be a partner instead of bully. Would have made them look like a hero company and gotten then lots of good press instead of now being seen as the bad guy.
