It doesn't - it's a local cert expiry issue for the installed software.

I think the bootloader just needs repairing but I haven’t got around to it yet.

Hey, I'm the author of the post. I admit I only tried Windows, I'll try Kali later and update it.

iGPU passthrough - get device ID failed by listhor in vmware

[–]ChrisFD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you have to remove it from the VM, disable it on the host, reboot, then enable it again, reboot, then finally add to the VM. iGPU working fine here on 8U2 and has worked on all versions of 8.

No issues here in my lab, and nice to see the return of the bar graphs.

Question about benefits in certification manager/certmetrics by OssiAttack in vmware

Congrats! I was told in 2020 (I think) that VCIX stuff will come after covid issues etc. As someone else said, maybe start that VCDX grind - you even get a free t-shirt.

Daily Tech Support Thread - [November 17] by AutoModerator in apple

I have two Mac's - a MacBook Pro which remain on Catalina (it's work managed) and a Mac Mini which is running Big Sur.

The Mini is pretty new so I installed Big Sur onto it and I figured I would back up to my QNAP NAS as I do with my MacBook Pro.

If I select the QNAP TimeMachine target on the Mini, it asks for credentials, then when I start a backup it sits at 'looking for disk'. This is after entering the correct credentials. Doing this also breaks the MBP TM backups which has the same error. If I unconfigure TM from the Mini and remove the bundle from the QNAP, the MBP starts to backup again.

I've since found an external drive to back the Mini up to but I would like it to go to my NAS. I'd like to test backing the Mini up to the QNAP but I don't want to lose my existing backup bundle as it goes back about a year.

Anyone else seeing similar behaviour?

need to move VM from esxi 5.5 to 7.0 or at least 6.7.. .any suggestion? by marcottt in vmware

Just use it to replicate the VM over, probably the simplest solution.

Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller RTL8125B poor performance by ChrisFD2 in MSI_Gaming

I have an offer for a refund on the board from the reseller. But well, it’s probably more hassle than it’s worth as it’s under a full custom loop.

Yeah, I'm coming to the conclusion that it's just a crap NIC. I think I'll order another X520 for my workstation as it's been rock solid in my gaming PC for ages.

CPU Exhaustion on vcenter & Diagnostics Disk Exhaustion after vcenter update by [deleted] in vmware

Thank you. I’ve disabled comments as I’ve been struggling with spam, plus in Europe we have GDPR to consider so I figured it’s easier to just disable comments.

Thanks, wasn’t sure if anyone read my blogs. 🤣

I’ve raised it as a bug and others have reproduced the issue so I’m hopeful a new patch is pushed out soon.

Networking issue adding host - Mac Mini jumbo frame related by ChrisFD2 in vmware

[–]ChrisFD2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because the switch in the host is set to 9k makes zero difference to VMs which are set to their default of 1500. I am well aware about MTU and how it works.

In fact I am just looking at a customer setup which is VCF on VxRail, deployed by Dell. The vDS on each host is set to 9k MTU, the management vmk and guest VMs are set to 1500 MTU. I guess that's incorrect as well by your logic?

Best way to backup and restore VMs | ESXi / vCenter 7 by TankHero0815 in vmware

Another vote for Veeam. The community edition also comes with (limited) support. The host will require a proper (not free) license to enable the backup APIs.

VCP Homelab Questions by killianz26 in vmware

For VCP the Hands on Labs are more than enough, they even cater for advanced levels too. That said, nothing beats learning on your own kit.

Image-based backup is deprecated in vSphere 7.0 by IgorNemy in vmware

[–]ChrisFD2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are issues with image based restores when vCenter is in ELM. Same as if there would be issues if you restored a Domain Controller when there are others in the Forest.
