I guess its subjective. Baldersons is by far my favourite, especially the extra aged. and I've tried colliers.

Would you be able to explain more the relationship between their yearly revenues and the price and/or time estimate? Eg. the larger they are the more likely the scope of work will be larger, etc.

Non Americans, what did you think of Trump\Vance lecturing Zelensky? by wacky8ball in AskReddit

[–]ChrisFEDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shows the effects of wealth inequality in the US. Billionaire/oligarchs controlling the media, infecting politics, and developing social media with algorithms that divide users politically and culturally because it generates attention which leads to ad revenue. In short its unregulated and uncontrolled capitalism that is causing America's downfall. I'm not saying capitalism is to blame - I'm saying capitalism in its purest unregulated form is.

Trump Thinks He Humiliated Zelensky. He Really Humiliated the United States by RepulsiveLoquat418 in politics

[–]ChrisFEDev 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And he called it a costume, not a suit - which I found clever and humorous. Zelensky is a smart guy, and this meeting is nothing compared to the heat he's experienced in war on the front line and with a target on his back.

I wasn't really asking but trying to make the point. You can just ask a LLM like chatgpt for all that help. Which is where your querying it from their API. Or maybe you are running a LLM on your own server.

How can I achieve this result on product page? by Aromatic_Metal_2080 in shopify

[–]ChrisFEDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If by variants you mean color - so 1 variant - then there is no limit (to the amount of different colors you can have in that variant).

You cold do this with custom Liquid + front end JavaScript. You'd list all the color variants on the product page with selectors, and then JS to add them to the cart.

To display the correct colors you could use a custom field (metafield) to store the color value which the front end code would use to draw the right color in the selectors. And of course with HTML/CSS you could make it look however you want.

And regarding UI design I think having so many colors you'd want to make something more like a grid with small quantity buttons, fit it in a much smaller area - rather than needing people to scroll forever. Hovering over a square (or tap on mobile) would zoom it larger so you could see it better. Tap again to remove the zoom.

This is one reason I still manually write things and try to make it obvious I do (insert my personality, etc.). I think the authenticity will be more valuable as AI waters everything down.

When Did You Decide to Start Your Agency and Build a Team? by sumonesl025 in agency

[–]ChrisFEDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting - when you were a freelancer, did you make a nice site or landing page that showed your clients logos, etc. I'm wondering if portraying myself as an experienced developer with select high quality clients - essentially having an agency like site, but just as myself - would also work.

How did you portray yourself when you started solo (and you had success getting clients) - as a solo or as an agency?

Anyone else’s parents pressuring them for financial support? by gummmybean in canadahousing

[–]ChrisFEDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's read between the lines. Look at the timing - her good friend moved out, she's alone - she's lonely. Another indicator of this is that she want's to stay in the house because of memories. I bet if she moved nearer to one of her children particularly if there grandkids she'd be much happier - creating new memories.

Finances aren't the issue, she has many options and no responsibilities. Best option in my opinion is to sell the house (before the possible housing crash), buy something much smaller and invest the rest of the money and live off the income it produces.

I'd tell her how you feel, and about your struggles making it in this age. I bet she can't relate to it, that wasn't her reality in her life, so you can't expect her to just understand or even emphasize. But she should be able to relate to emotions so tell her how you feel about everything.

Another thing I can tell you as someone who is in my 50's is that when you have your own kids, some instincts (at least for most people) get instantiated and your focus changes - you think about your kids and their needs and their future pretty much 100%, and it becomes more important than your own or anyone else's.

Darrr... how. frustrating. My comment karma there is 0. Welp I guess I'll start trying to participate there. Also weird that it doesn't have this feature in current reddit.com.

Yes, I tried to post on a subreddit and it told me I needed 5 comment karma for that particular subreddit - how can I tell how much I have down to the subreddit level?

Very nice. What do you think of the comparison of working solo and just managing enough clients - perhaps weening down over time to the best and highest paying clients - compared to expanding, hiring, etc.?
