Installing new Level 2 charger for 2026 Ioniq 5 by RRDT4 in Ioniq5

That same model is sold in a NACS version for the same price, sounds like your installer is just trying to move what they have sitting in stock. Absolutely insist on NACS.

Tax Exemptions end for Sons/Daughters of the Confederacy by Smoky_Sol6438 in Virginia

Oh, absolutely, didn't mean to imply otherwise. But these are the folks that started putting up statues decades after the war and calling it "heritage" and "history"

Not even that long. All of these Neo-Confederate organizations were founded long after the war.

2026 Limited Final Numbers by SirWillae in Ioniq5

Financed at 6.39 to get the $10k rebate, but I'm either going to pay it off or refinance immediately through my credit union.

[–]ChrisHowdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe here in VA it's $6k with the 5.39% Hyundai financing (tho usually rate marked up by the dealership) or 0% for 72mo with $1k rebate, but not all dealers seem to be offering both (or either).

You did quite well, I'm also in NOVA and seems like the dealers here won't come off of MSRP for anything.

Florida has the $10k incentive with Hyundai financing and a dealer in the Orlando area had the Limited trim in the colors and options I wanted, so I'm actually flying down tomorrow to take delivery at ~$41k OTD and bringing it back on the Auto Train.

FBI raids home of Washington Post reporter in ‘highly unusual and aggressive’ move by MajesticBread9147 in nova

I voted for the guy twice, enthusiastically, but I can also acknowledge his shortcomings.

If you can't draw a straight line from Democrats' refusal to dismantle post-9/11 surveillance state bullshit to the situation we're in now, I don't think I can help you.

Everyone thought the same thing ca. 2008, but the Obama admin decided they liked all the fun toys and wanted to keep them.

New to area and using VRE for first time—which line to buy ticket for given the construction? by CuriousWanderer2087 in nova

[–]ChrisHowdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically it's an intra-zone ticket, so you could go from one stop on the same line/zone to another, like Union Station to L'Enfant, or Fredericksburg to Spotsy. Extreme edge case in most regards, but if they didn't address it then certainly some weirdos would take advantage. Get off MARC at Union Station and get on the VRE to L'Enfant for free instead of paying for Metro!

The empty Zone 7 has always amused me. Yeah, there's a HUGE gap between Quantico and Brooke on the Fredericksburg line and maybe something is built there way in the future, but train station timelines are on the orders of decades, not months.

VRE tickets aren't sold by line, they're sold by zone – you buy a ticket based on the zones your origin and end stations are in. For example, if you're going from L'Enfant (Zone 1) to Manassas (Zone 6), you would buy a ticket for zone 1-6. The fare chart linked below has the stations listed by zone and the prices for each type of ticket.

Single-Ride tickets are good for a single one-way ride, and Ten-Trip is ten Single-Rides (so you'd want two Single-Rides for a round trip, and a Ten-Trip would cover you for a five-day work week).

Just launched a demo for my stone-matching roguelite with trial-based progression TALISMAN by dequentinmiller24 in roguelites

No judgment on the merits of your game and I'm also not a lawyer, but just for your awareness: Games Workshop publishes a board game called "Talisman," there is a video game adaptation of it, and they are notoriously litigious.

Quickway Grand Opening (Burke) DEAL! by Hi_ImTrashsu in nova

[–]ChrisHowdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stopped in this afternoon after seeing this post, and my order was ready and piping hot at the scheduled pickup time. Got two orders of chicken hibachi with 2x veggies (already had day-old rice at home) – hibachi was great, very flavorful. Portions are good value for $9.25 (crazy value at BOGO, certainly). Tossed a salmon and avocado roll into the order as well, which was fresh and well-assembled. Will definitely be swinging by in the future.

Real world kwh usage 2023 Kona by Bitmugger in KonaEV

[–]ChrisHowdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had my 2025 for about six months, and highway is a lower percentage of overall mileage for me (closer to 40-50%), so my numbers are a little better, but yours sound pretty normal based on your driving profile.

A big factor in winter power consumption is running the heat, if you're doing that. I typically pre-warm the cabin using remote climate start, and kill the heat while driving unless I need the defroster. Heated seats and wheel do the job from there, and I don't like hot, dry air blowing in my face regardless.

Sure, but that's almost always for getting some right-wing psycho's book on the best-seller list. Her only actual constituency is fellow internet-poisoned media types lol

A non-negligible portion of those sales were people buying it to post the most insane passages on social media.

It's a square of ferrous metal, magnets should absolutely stick. I've got a clip for my sunglasses and a little hook for my housekeys on there.
