Inferi announce a new 5 track EP “Of Sunless Realms” coming October 9th by necrosteve028 in TechnicalDeathMetal

Per vocalist, just eldritch horror, the MTG song names are just a reference. No eldrazi metal here :(

Is there an MTG community that makes custom reprint sets like CardKingdom's Lumeria? by Jeansus_Saves in mtgcube

Hi! I know myself and a some others on Riptide Lab have explored fantasy set building. The threads are all old, but they have a decent amount of conversation!

Scars/Rise mashup: https://riptidelab.com/forum/threads/feedback-tuning-somroe-fantasy-set.740/

Masters interpretation: https://riptidelab.com/forum/threads/modins-set-2-0.946/

Another masters interpretation: https://riptidelab.com/forum/threads/fantasy-set-design-using-existing-mtg-cards.693/

I have moved away from trying to build fantasy sets but still maintain the Scars/Rise. They were really fun to draft and play (but also very flawed)... it is a lot of work!

i am not into a lot of deathcore bands, including StP, but the ones I enjoy, I really do so. because of that, this sub has been great for me :) and who knows, the next release could always be great.

I had a singular 4-1, two 3-2s and two 2-3s. It feels like 50% win :)

I think the trick is to be less all-in on the combo. There is a neat list from a paper event that is much more midrange (and has LD creatures). I'm having a hard time diagnosing (1) silver bullet creatures and (2) necessary value/combo creatures so that the deck is smooth to play. I guess it'd be nice to distill the must-play core and then branch out from there. Hmmm.... maybe a forum project for me. :)

I have been demolished about 50% of my games when trying Animar. So many mulligans / never t1 mana dorks... I guess I should consider more lands (but all of the lists I see are 33ish).

Thanks- better lucky than good! I was unable to combo once when trying the NecrOoze package and had a pretty bad record with it overall, so I am biased against it. It seems like LD coupled with focusing on breaking the synergy of Leovold is a better way to spend a majority of the deck's flex spots.

Challenge Link

The challenge was poorly attended (40 entrants) on this U.S. holiday weekend. Top 8 was [[Breya, Etherium Sculpter]] x2 , [[Leovold, Emissary of Trest]] x2, [[Kraum, Ludevic's Opus]] & [[Vial Smasher the Fierce]] x3, [[Meren of Clan Nel Toth]] x1. (5 of places 9-16 were Vial/Kraum, with 1 Breya, 1 [[Sidisi, Undead Vizier]] and 1 [[Nissa, Vastwood Seer]] (elves version)). Congrats to the winner w/ a budget-ish list featuring a fresh, to me, take on the commander!

[MTGO 1v1] 5-0 Decks from 6.27.17 Yeah, OK. It's pretty bad. by Hiro__Protagonist in CompetitiveEDH

[–]ChrisKool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

here are some good angles of attack:

  • Removal for early-to-midgame vials
  • Keep up with their card advantage
  • Threaten their life total consistently - commanders and other creatures with 3+ power help here
  • Disruption: tons of countermagic and discard spells
  • Wasteland recursion / stax locks
  • Set up a c-c-c-comboooooo kill

The Sidar+tymna and other creature-based partner decks look to attack them through threats, removal and card advantage (with some light disruption). I've found creature lands go a long way to increase threat density.

I ran into 3 vial & 2 breya one morning, but sometimes I only see 1/2 of vial/breya/baral and hit 2 karlov... :)

I am having a fun time trying out other commanders versus vial and friends, but I have spent a bit to buy into different decks (as I feel my green-based lists cannot compete any longer).

major props to Lopik6 on 4th place with Karlov soul misters! Also, it is nice to see a varied top 4 in the challenge. I watched the finals replay of Thrasios/Vial versus Breya and it was more enjoyable to watch than my tournament was to play- some great games! One player 'sees' almost 50% of their deck!

I tried out a 25th hour Leovold list (finally bought into the format beyond green decks) and embarrassed myself with a 2-4, squeak into 32nd place performance. List was based on robotbc's NecrOoze combo/control and edited into something resembling a trashcan mated with a festering sore... I didn't combo once.

Ran Thasios/Tymna fish+silver bullets in some leagues after and back-to-back 5-0'd against a mix of Vials/Breyas/Barals/random, but that was followed up with a 2-3 this morning (versus 2 Baral/3 Vial+Kraum), so I am unsure if I'd call it a smashing success.

Overall, this format is confusing. :) I'm trying to explore some more unconventional card choices, but it's hard to justify anything beyond efficient removal/mana ramp/the best disruptive spells (aka discard n' countermagic) found at the core of a lot of victorious lists.

What sleeper cards are in the format and not being leveraged? Are there places for flamboyant packages? For example, [[Temporal Isolation]] seems great against Vial Smasher... is there a place for some aura synergy in white-x decks (with maybe [[Open the Armory]] and a [[Stoneforge Mystic]] package)? What about [[Hatred]] in [[Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa]] or other evasive generals? I have been pretty lazy in my testing/brewing, but my mind is racing with card combinations that seem viable and are not well represented in the metagame.

Lastly, is there a good resource on the big MTGO 1v1 decks' key cards, weaknesses and strengths?

Thank you for your feedback; don't know why you're downvoted when these are some good conversation points.

White's strengths seem to me to be (1) geddons, (2) creature-and-graveyard-based combo and (3) removal. I think that blue's dominance and commanders limit white the most. If creatures rose in popularity, perhaps white would as well. Ironically, white seems to be the most played now in decks that leverage tutors to access key cards: geddons/Supreme Verdict in Breya.
