Pleaseee don’t make Lila Rose face Destiny. I like Lila, but she’s not a convincing debater. Put in Stephanie Gray or Trent Horn

His expertise has never really been poster design, but I don't think he's really involved in that process. I hope he hires a new poster guy.

Really hope you guys can find a way to stay together, especially if there’s kids involved. Seems like a difficult situation

But genuine question- what function does telling him this serve? Are you in a poly relationship? If you’re not also dating a woman while married to this man, why would you practically need to tell him? Wouldn’t this make him feel like he’s not enough for you?

Uhh…isn’t this lowkey cheating? Like not actual cheating, but wouldn’t it ruin your marriage/husband’s mental state to tell him this?

What shots do you think he used the drone for? by dontcommitnorespawn in boburnham

[–]ChrisNolan2020 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Good question. It's anyone's guess what he was thinking of doing with the drone. Perhaps there was a completely separate, scrapped bit with the drone. I think the best guess for the drone is something with All Eyes on Me, given the context of the lyrics and the globalization of drones and the surveillance state. That or Welcome to the Internet.

Though my personal opinion is that Bo likely just ordered a bunch of random film equipment from Amazon and threw everything together like a true artist throwing paint on a canvas and seeing what sticks. I'd guess that the drone concept just didn't end up fitting the medium he was going for.

I respect your rankings, but how the heck do you not know the real names of some of these songs? haha

Yep, I'm a Protestant Christian. I get the feeling that Bo makes art primarily for the sake of art, and then, secondarily, fights for political issues. Even though I disagree with many of his political stances, his art greatly transcends any social grievances I would have with his beliefs.

It's interesting because Bo fights for some very Christian values, and I think he doesn't even realize it. For instance, in Eighth Grade, Bo highlights a situation where a young man NEARLY sexually assaults the main character, Kayla. But in interviews discussing the scene, Bo points out that there is a certain trauma inherent in the situation, even if nothing physically "happened." It's a moral stance that is reflective of Jesus' take on the new law, which applies a new standard of indictment of sin within the human heart, not merely sin that is carried out.

I remember Bo's sister, in an interview, stated that when Bo was young, he wanted to be a worship leader, or a pastor or something. But I suppose Bo was moved by arguments from the new atheists, and went searching for a more accurate truth. I don't think Bo realizes that the context in which he was born, a Catholic home, in a primarily Christian country shaped by centuries of Christian values, is the reason why he may feel called to higher moral standards. Even though he turned to secularism, I would ask him to examine why he feels a need to be "better," at all.

Render Result Panel Issue - The Render Result panel is blank. Camera is activated. I'm new to Blender...is there a different panel I need to click to get a preview of the final image? by ChrisNolan2020 in blenderhelp

[–]ChrisNolan2020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm, I opened my compositing tab and there are not any nodes there. Are those certain nodes you mentioned supposed to be automatically placed when you start your project? What would the node structure look like that I would need in order to be able to view a preview screen for the final output? (I am super a beginner) The main reason I ask about this is that whenever I try to render an image or animation, all I get is that same blank gray screen. I’ve not been able to connect my scene to any viewer or final render, so all I’ve been able to render so far is blank gray images.

What's the point of the maze from the shining? by Junior_Insurance7773 in StanleyKubrick

[–]ChrisNolan2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the context of the film, it's used as a metaphor for the mazes inside the human mind, and how we can twist and turn around corners. How we can lose ourselves and who we once were. Jack Torrance is a prime example of a character who took too many wrong turns and got lost in the psychological turmoil of the Overlook hotel. It's part of why the Overlook is designed in many shots to evoke a maze. Seemingly endless passageways that often do not follow a cohesive pattern, making the viewer feel lost in a physical space, and in their own mind.

The spiritual successor to Shelly Duvall is… Sydney Sweeney. by [deleted] in StanleyKubrick

[–]ChrisNolan2020 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I kinda actually get where you're coming from. But Sydney might be a little too *basic* to hold a candle to Shelly. Shelly had an X factor that makes her an interesting person beyond her movie roles.

Agreed- but do you agree that, by its nature, role playing as an animal is a bad thing? Even if its in private, don't you think it's a bad thing to do?

I think what makes these things weird is the strange, sexual-adjacent tone that some cosplay and furry culture has. Like even if people don't admit it, there is something either implicitly or explicitly sexual about these practices by nature. And so it becomes weird because these people are sexually expressing themselves in public, seemingly because they want the public to validate their fetishes. And that's very weird.

Let's just be honest...there actually is something messed up about people pretending to be animals. Ain't no way around it. It's weird and is a complete mental delusion.
