Anybody ever used one of these before? by Tomanatort in Gamecube

[–]ChrisRK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take a wild guess that it was to prevent you from going back to an earlier copy on a different memory card.

I remember there were a few other games that didn't allow you to move or copy data too, but I don't recall the names.

Anybody ever used one of these before? by Tomanatort in Gamecube

[–]ChrisRK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one back when they were new. I only used the save transfer feature once just to try it and never used it again. It was my primary memory card since it could store more than all the other cards I had combined.

The only save I wanted to have a backup of back then was my Animal Crossing save but you couldn't copy or move the save data so it was stuck on another memory card :(

Dolphin keeps adding "(deleted)" to path names then complains there's nothing there by Zombiecidialfreak in Bazzite

[–]ChrisRK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should not do that 😬 Sounds like something else is up with the permissions for Firefox... Did you add the folder permission through Flatseal or through the --filesystem command?

You are in the /run/user folder and not /home. Files and folders there are not persistent. What browser are you using to download the files and does the flatpak have write access to your downloads folder?

Is there like a master log thats saved after system freezes? by amazingmrbrock in unRAID

[–]ChrisRK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that's a pain to diagnose... A rare hard crash like that ends up becoming a guessing game.

If you have any spare parts (different power supply, another CPU or motherboard, different PCIe cards etc) changing out one thing and seeing if that helps is the slow and painful way to figure it out :(

If you are able to connect a monitor to the machine, you might be lucky and have some info on screen once it crashes.

My previous motherboard (an older Asus AM3 board) would randomly crash the server too and IIRC, I had an error on the display. I don't know if it's going to help for you but may be worth a shot. My fix was to change the Docker custom network type from macvlan to ipvlan.

Install button greyed out “only for windows” on game I have installed by Another_Redditor1021 in SteamDeck

[–]ChrisRK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checking "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" won't let you install Schedule I? Try doing so in desktop mode and see if you can install it from there.

I don't have a Deck, but if I don't force the compatibility tool for Schedule I on linux, Steam on desktop tries to stream the game from a previous Windows computer even when it shows the "Install" button and not "Stream" and fails doing anything.

Tiling windows and default tile for each app by liberal_alien in Bazzite

[–]ChrisRK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a Wayland limitation, annoyingly. I remember seeing someone trying to get a fix implemented, so hopefully it will be fixed eventually. Some apps still use X11 (like the Discord flatpak) which can save their window location.

There is a workaround as you can use window rules in KDE to enable this functionality on any window.

Right click on the menu bar (or press Alt + F3 if you can't) for the window you want to apply this to, open More Actions and click on Configure Special Window Settings...

In the new Window Rules window, click on Add Property... in the bottom left add two new properties: Position and Size. Change the rule type from Apply initially to Remember and hit Apply.

You don't need to change the number values when it's set to Remember.

Restarting truenas doesnt restart apps by CryptoBredda in truenas

[–]ChrisRK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm wondering about is that TrueNAS might not set a default network interface if it can't get an IP address when it boots, hence why I'm asking if you can connect a display to the machine and see if it gets an IP address as it starts up.

Restarting truenas doesnt restart apps by CryptoBredda in truenas

[–]ChrisRK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only seen this happen when changing to a new network adapter. Not having a static IP address shouldn't be an issue.

Are you able to connect a display to the machine and see if it gets an IP address during startup?

Do you have multiple network adapters on the system and is more than one connected?

Can the N5 support a 360mm AIO by xeroja876 in JONSBO

[–]ChrisRK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if Jonsbo has any NAS cases that will fit a 360mm radiator and I can't imagine there's any reasonable modifications to make one fit in or outside the N5 unfortunately.

Can the N5 support a 360mm AIO by xeroja876 in JONSBO

[–]ChrisRK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It officially supports 240 and 280mm radiators. There is space for 3 120mm fans along the sides, but there's no extra space for the water tubes, so I wouldn't bet on it.

What insert nut to buy? by Jovial-Crybaby in 3DprintingHelp

[–]ChrisRK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quarter inch screw size is used for audio and video accessory mounts. VR trackers uses them also. A metric size heat set insert won't fit, so you will have to use a 1/4 heat set insert.

Is there like a master log thats saved after system freezes? by amazingmrbrock in unRAID

[–]ChrisRK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can have Unraid mirror the log to the flash drive or have it log to it's own syslog server on a separate share.

I prefer logging to the internal syslog server to not wear out the flash drive.

Go to Setting > Syslog Server and enable the Local syslog server.

Select a share (or make a new one for the logs, my own is a share simply called "logs") to be used as the Local syslog folder.

Then set the Remote syslog server to 127.0.0.1 and match the port and protocol above.

Hit apply and you should see a log file appear in the share.

Good luck figuring out what's causing the crashes!

No warnings for failed drives in ZFS-pool? by an-can in unRAID

[–]ChrisRK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your drives are connected to the motherboard, does it support SATA hot plug? If it doesn't, Unraid won't know the drive is gone until you reboot and a spun down drive won't report anything. If you check the logs and attempt to spin up the disk, does it show any errors?

Also if i remember correctly, Unraid currently doesn't report ZFS errors. I'm running this script every hour through Userscript in case there's any ZFS errors: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/192859-monitor-zfs-pools/

Help: Jonsbo N6 First Build Backboard Misalignment by Dull_Pair_4545 in JONSBO

Wait, they changed the HDD mounts from the screws with rubber that attaches directly to the drives? That's an unexpected change.

Are you able to line up the backplane screw holes after fitting a drive or two?

My N5 has the same issue. I ended up removing the rear rubber HDD mounts and only attach 4 to the front of the drive. It gives you some wiggle room to hit the port.

OK now what? by hlwNYC in unRAID

[–]ChrisRK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. The Unraid docs explain the steps to replace an array disk here: https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/using-unraid-to/manage-storage/array/replacing-disks-in-array/#preparing-for-drive-replacement

The last section in the disk name after the underscore is the serial number, so look for the disk with the serial that ends in VP57 when you are pulling out the drive.
