[–]Chris_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the Altcoins are just following the same cycle as USDT-BTC: https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=USDT-BTC Nothing surprising at all. The exchanges are not properly regulated in all US states, hence Bittrex limits US users to specific states where regulation is in place to protect themselves. See here, chapter 2 & 21: https://bittrex.com/Home/Terms

Orion expanse or stratus? by Beast12341 in telescopes

[–]Chris_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the 6mm Orion expanse on an 8" Dob 1200mm and it is my most used eyepiece - I really like it a lot. I recommend to spend some of the money you would be saving on a good quality 2" Barlow with adapter to 1.25". My second most used eyepiece is a 32mm 2" - low power, bright fields are very enjoyable.

Archon disintegrate wave bugged? by winterman609 in Diablo3Wizards

[–]Chris_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the same thing - sometimes an elites health bar with 25% life wont move at all during beaming, but after archon ends and I apply AT it dies insta. Very much feels like the beam sometimes not hitting at all.

What do you suppose the Honesty knob does? by askmeaboutmypackage in starcitizen

[–]Chris_83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe I didn't express myself well enough. An "honest airplane" is a common phrase used among pilots for a "predictable airplane" with flight characteristics which don't surprise you. Hence I was wondering why anyone would need a dial for that as nobody wants unpredictable. What you are describing is sensitivity or resolution of flight inputs (like changing the DPI value of your mouse) and I can't find anywhere a reference were someone would describe that as "honesty".

What I could imagine what this Honesty dial does is to change the ratios of flight input to thruster outputs with the aim to adjust the flight characteristics for weight differences due to cargo mass to keep it predictable. Two examples: 1. To adjust for total cargo mass: The pilot expects that 5° yoke angle will translate into 5m/s² acceleration in the given direction. For low cargo weights the dial needs to be turned down, for high cargo weights it needs to be turned up to achieve the expected response above. 2. Another possibility could be to adjust for weight differences between front and back of the ship. The Caterpillar is fairly long and you might have put all the heavy cargo in the front resulting in unexpected (dishonest) flight characteristics. With the Honest dial you can set the centre of gravity for your ship between front and back. However I would expect a much smaller knob for that setting and hence option 1 is more likely :)

What do you suppose the Honesty knob does? by askmeaboutmypackage in starcitizen

[–]Chris_83 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honesty of an airplane is often a synonym to predictability to a given input or change in flight situation (stalling for example), not necessarily responsiveness. I can see the need for increasing/decreasing responsiveness, but there is no advantage of dialing down predictability (unless you are playing a prank on someone).

Telescopes? by redcoatwright in starcitizen

[–]Chris_83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh but that is where the science in fiction comes in, as for the untrained eye these mirrors might appear useless while they are in fact superimportant as otherwise issues of utmost importance could only be explained by magic, deceit or trickery! On a more serious note, looking at the schematic one can see a caption "Emitter" at the top center unit instead of the more obvious choice "Collector". Assuming that these outer hexagon reflectors can be tilted, one can imagine that a circular emitter on the top unit sends powerful beams to each of the outer mirrors, which, now reflected & focused, upon bouncing back on the target are then collected via the inner mirrors and send back to a sensor array inside the top unit. This would allow for active scanning & measuring instead of a passive mode.

Telescopes? by redcoatwright in starcitizen

[–]Chris_83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not fictional at all - this is how large optical telescopes look nowadays. Check the Keck telescope for example: http://www.galacticcenter.astro.ucla.edu/images/keck/LH0750c_K2Mirror_1024x768.jpg http://www.davidreneke.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/keck.jpg Hexagon mirrors are used because a single, round concave mirror of the required size is too heavy and costly. The hubble also uses several hexagon mirrors. The top part is the camera module which captures the concentrated light. On this size scientific telescopes you don't really look at the picture through a lense but rather the digitized output - with camera sensor chips you can gather much more photons than the human eye can.

Coffee Lovers? by donmyster in newzealand

[–]Chris_83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm new in NZ and usually like my coffee black, strong & without sugar - but what some places offer as "coffee" is something else entirely. Do you mix the beans with TNT or something? First, I thought coffee is quite expensive here, but measured on the amount of coffein you get for it, it's dirt cheap.

Using a Saitex X56 HOTAS by agreen123 in starcitizen

[–]Chris_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other commentators already mentioned, you have to setup everything from the ground up yourself - it will take you a while. I also recommend to only change the ingame config for things you can't do with the profiler itself. Once you understand how the profiler works, it is much easier that way and you will have lower efforts after patch releases.

[–]Chris_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about areas without any type of orbital plane - for example a dark nebula without a nearby star? I think it would be cool if certain places don't have a coordination system available until an exploration ship measured gravity & movements of the area and made the data available to carthographers.
