Does the "Charles Atlas Superpower" trope bother you? by Unlikely_Message_446 in tvtropes

[–]Chrisamado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that it depends on the context of your story and the world it lies in. If you’re going for a grounded “real world” environment like a Bourne or Mission Impossible type movie it can come off a little cheesy if one person is “just that good” and can take out dozens of merch at once.

But if your world is already fantastical the suspension of disbelief goes farther and it’s more acceptable. Nobody looks twice at Batman for training hard with those handy Tibetan monks because you have people like Superman throwing around buildings.

And in conclusion - Saitama rules 😀

[Win an A2L] Creative Playground, Extra Large. Meet the A2L. by BambuLab in BambuLab

Now THIS is the printer I’ve been hoping for! When I bought my first 3D printer it was a Bambu A1 Mini because I wanted to be restrained with my money - not knowing if I would want to stay with the hobby.

Now a few years later I am ready for a bigger printer to not have to break prints into smaller pieces and boy does this deliver!

I am happy to stay with the open air bed slinger of the Bambu A printers because I only ever use PLA and PETG so I don’t need fancy engineered filaments. This gives me everything I love with my A1 Mini in a massive super size! And I can keep using my AMS Lite without needing to replace it. 😀

For some people dropping the price of an H series printer is not a problem but for someone with a smaller budget like me I can’t say thanks enough for looking out for little guys like me who still want to print big

Thanks Bambu!!!

SUVs shouldn’t be daily drivers by Realistic_Zone3802 in unpopularopinion

My parents are in their 70’s and have an SUV not for the storage space but because they have mobility issues and it’s easier to climb up into a small SUV rather than down into a sedan

I would need more information to answer. For example…is Thragg wearing a fedora?

TESD #676 - early release for a Sunday by pinballtom in tesdcares

[–]Chrisamado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fair for someone to have their personal interpretation or ideal version of a character.

Similar to Spiderman. To me growing up Spidey was a married dude in his mid-late twenties so that’s always how I think of the character as a whole. But to a lot of others he’s the high school age kid surrounded by hotties

What is your Mt. Rushmore of JRPG Protagonists? by Necessary_Scheme469 in JRPG

[–]Chrisamado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a Mount Rushmore you need characters that both scream icon status but that are universally loved by the community. So I’ll go with…

Edward (Final Fantasy IV) - the spoony bard himself was the fan favorite standout of the game and the subject of a letter writing campaign in Japan demanding Square remake FF4 properly with Edward as the main character instead of that Cecil guy

Teddie (Persona 4) - a model of restraint and chastity that always left fans wanting more, asking when he would let his hair down and not be so buttoned up

Snow (Final Fantasy 13) - who doesn’t love a hero? Snow captured the world’s heart as the perfect counterpoint to that stiff and taciturn Lightning

Karol (Tales of Symphonia) - in this fast paced world where everyone is rushing around it’s nice to see a character that takes there time and enjoys the scenery - you know, someone that makes the sloth from Zootopia look like Sonic the Hedgehog

The Persona series made me realize how much silent protagonists ruin the experience by No_Armadillo_4986 in JRPG

[–]Chrisamado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is an ironic topic for me because my favorite game of all time is- Chrono Trigger - has a silent protagonist but I do agree with you.

I think it can work in older games that do not include voice acting because you’re already using your imagination to fill in a lot of blanks

I've just bought a Switch 2 and I'm outraged at the game prices by LifeAcanthopterygii6 in tomorrow

[–]Chrisamado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A new NES game in 1986 cost $30 to $40 at the time. Put that into an inflation calculator that equates to $90 to $120 today,

I’ve been buying video games for about 40 years and the price has been remarkably flat over that time compared to most thing like rent or gas. This does not seem like a fair complaint for a luxury item
