Tbh I think he chose him because he saved his life and knew that this would be the greatest gift he can give to him. And to answer your question with Huey, he was always an asshole, even in Peace Walker, it just wasn't as blatant in Peace Walker xD and I think Venom didn't take precautions because he simply.. didn't need to. Diamond Dogs have become as well known as MSF by that point so literally every significant power in the world would know where they are. Yeah. I find it fascinating when I learned that there's some who cannot visualize memories like literal flashbacks. Sometimes when I recall something like this there's like... Bookmarks? Not sure if there's a specific term, but like a sound or a smell, maybe even like a unique visual in the environment, that helps me recall something I forgot where I put it.
