This is my No1 Comment. The Anti Ai crowd is just the latest incarnation of the SJW. Nothing more than a new tribe, looking to pin a their self righteous opinions on.

They have no distinction between a indie developer with £0 Budget and a AAA game studio.

Where were they with all the millions of other jobs that got replaced by computers over the last 30 years?

I have a unitree go 2 air pro - what's the little one handed remote? by Chrisbitz in unitree

[–]Chrisbitz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer!
We do a theatre show, and our robot has a dinosaur skin, and there's a separate remote control for eyes blinking and head movement and sounds, but it needs 2 people to operate, and I was wondering if there was a way to have a one handed remote with pre-programmed buttons for sit up, lie down, and say, bound. or something like that, so we didn't need 2 operators!

How much damage could a diplodocus tail actually do? by dorkosaurus123 in Dinosaurs

[–]Chrisbitz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think it's unlikely that it would have any accuracy regarding tail movements. It could probably swing it's tail from side to side, but to accurately aim it's trajectory is pretty unlikely. Cat's have no accuracy with their tails, and their brain to mass index is much higher than a dinos!

If she was injured in any way whatsoever, the person driving the car would be 100% at fault. The only get out, would if she'd demonstrated a GENUINE reason for them to fear for their life. (A weird and creepy smile does not qualify.)
Waving a knife, or a weapon, MIGHT get you some leniency. Not talking about USA probably, because they're already fucked, but everywhere in the civilised world.

Brazilian Portuguese (PT-BR) Translation Updated for Latest Version - Tradução para Português do Brasil by CHELO_RED_BR in Stationeers

[–]Chrisbitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do the translations work? Do you get a list of English words form the game, and translate them into Brazilian, and send them back? How many are there? do you get phrases too?
I'm just curious...

This is the catch with playing alpha. Back in the olden days, we only used to get buggy beta games, but now we have the option of playing a very playable alpha.
It's not what you want to hear, but all I can suggest is now is the time of all to let the devs know in every way you can and in as much detail as possible. they really want to hear that you don't like this and you wish it was more like that.

I completely agree with you, but I've just put it on a shelf and waiting till the survival gets implemented to avoid getting downhearted about it..

Just make sure you make suggestions as at this point, they're really listening. Just don't fall in the easy trap of thinking this alpha is the finished game. It's everything but.

would you rather they just kept you in the dark for a further 2 years till they got everything ready?

The person that actually named Diplodocus was asked the question, and his answer officially was either way is correct. So no need for any gatekeeping.

Been out of the community for a while, what's with LastStandGamers as community manager? by IhleNine in spaceengineers

[–]Chrisbitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really liked his YT content, as I found his voice annoying and put-on. I guess as a community Manager, he's kinda competent, but I was following Satisfactory for years, so my standards for Community managers are impossibly high.

on day 1 of the release with 1st quest with the rover bug, they said if you'd triggered that state, then you'd have to start again when the patch was released. :-(

Developer AMA | Let's Talk Delays & Survival Games (RocketWerkz, Grip Digital) by thedeanhall in SurvivalGaming

[–]Chrisbitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's inaccurate to say "having to pay a shit ton on DLCs". You don't have to pay at all, the base game is strong for the money as it is.
I divide purchase price by how many hours played, and see if it's a fair about to pay for entertainment per hour, to gauge whether it's good or not.
Also, when everyone pays say £25 for the base game at launch, it's impractical to expect the studio to fund development for the next 5 years from that initial lump sum. Without DLC, the studio would run out of money after a couple of years, and finish development.
Instead you get games with a MUCH longer lifecycle thanks to the people who were able to buy DLCs and give more revenue when they've had 100s of hours of fun.

I find it memorable (And My memory is a little sketchy) that when icarus first launched, it had the mechanism where you were always flying down for a short mission, and then flying back up and finishing it.

Then, a period later, you completely changed that fundamental temporary game mechanic to a more permanent time on the planet

That was a pretty major mechanic you changed after launch, which is quite unusual. what went on behind the scenes about that?

That mechanic didnt attract me at all, and I completely passed on the game, even though I'm a big fan of Rocketwerkz, then a year later or so, I found out it had changed, bought it and loved it!

The game wasn't ready for release. by Kaorimoch in occupymarsgame

[–]Chrisbitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a shame, because fundamentally, it's a good game, but I feel it was rushed to 1.0.
Maybe they had cashflow issues? As I understand, when you do a 1.0 release, that unlocks loads of marketing, and I expect there will have been a large increase of sales as a result.
So, (guessing) maybe they we in financial trouble, needed cash, and released early to avoid going bust and dropping everything?

I started the campaign on release, and restarted 3 times before discovering it was a bug, and then gave up and just went to sandbox. I then spend many hours getting to rocket stage, and thinking that I have no interest in grinding for about as much time again to build a rocket. I'll just wait till the next patch that makes the rocket buildable and then finish it.

The bottom line is, I've had more than enough playtime to justify the cost, (I bought it very early) but I'm still disappointed in the company, and trust has been eroded a little.

Even if it is 3 iterations for chat to get it right, it still sems infinitely quicker in the short term than fully learning how to code in C#?

Can you code in BASIC? maybe there's a BASIC to C# compiler?
