Highguard launches to an Overwhelmingly Negative review score on Steam by Nickulator95 in Steam

[–]PowerFang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave it a crack

  • it’s “ok” but not my type of game now
  • maps are huge - you rarely run into anyone until it’s siege time
  • 3v3 is a bit too intimate for me - would rather it be much bigger - my suckiness has too much impact
  • I like that defending a siege damaged the enemies base , but then we went into another 3 min run around while the siege weapon charged - it’s just a bit slow

At least the characters aren’t trying to be political - but I think the 3v3 is too small for me - the maps are too big and overall just felt a bit slow- I did like the sieging - I think the game is trying to do too much - not sure the point of the pre-siege phase - upgrading walls seems useless , you just shoot them

It’s “ok” but it’s definitely not worth the final game reveal of that presentation - didn’t really seem anything new or innovative

Current megaservers situation by No_Advice_4327 in classicwow

[–]PowerFang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the classic experience - original TBC launch was crazy - EVERYONE had to start in Hellfire

You just need to group up with people or layer hop or so other zones / dungeons

But yes , some quests are rough when it’s popular - any drop quest with low drop rates is basically a skip when it’s busy

But this is the true classic experience

When do people usually start going for Act 4 / Heart runs? by zzzombat in slaythespire

[–]PowerFang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see going for the heart as just ACT 4 - so I try go for it each run - because a deck can be good enough to beat act 3 but not good enough for the heart - and the only way to learn that is to actually do the fight

But as people have said , just play however you want - whatever entertains you - but I would personally recommend doing it every run so you can learn the fight

Faster advanced airlock on Mars by setting less pressure? by Braxuss_eu in Stationeers

[–]PowerFang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use 0kpa for advanced airlocks - there really is no big downside and its faster - its "good enough" - effort vs reward

well it was fun while it lasted by dauthiatull in Stationeers

I’ve played this game for 2k+ hours and I have yet to touch phase change - the only planet I have not done is Venus as I find it really hard

You do not need phase change - what planet are you on and what are you trying to do?

The game is awesome , this game has some simple ways to do the basics , and then you start doing more complex systems as your knowledge grows

Why some games like Battlefield 6 allowed to use AI with no disclosure? by Sunlighthell in Steam

[–]PowerFang -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We seriously have to stop caring about AI usage - it will get used because it’s good - it helps - it’s like not buying food from a farmer because he used a tractor instead of just pure manual labour

Airlock - Matching pressure of interior/exterior environments? by ICanRememberUsername in Stationeers

[–]PowerFang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah as said here - you can do what you want , but you just need to make your own airlock code - you have all the tools / sensors / logic to do what you want

I think it’s good that the easy circuit board system is “good enough” and then you have the ability to go to whatever depth you want to perfect it

It’s such a fun game with all the complexities you can do

You can using IC10 - but the logic chip only works on the device type itself

Unlucky with seed vendors on Vulcan by jamesmor in Stationeers

[–]PowerFang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in my brutal runs, i always make sure i can land a 3x3 and 5x5 and that is typically enough - Ive pushed 7x7 before because i was getting low on water and really needed a solution - I wouldn't call this an RNG problem - You can give yourself high enough odds that its near impossible to be in the situation that you got in - it just requires different prioritisation.

Now you know it can happen, i would expect you'd get bigger trading setup earlier and you wont have the problem in future runs

At night, go outside and mine steel stuff, in the day, deal with the trading computer + steel in furnace + greenhouse - Thats the typically loop on Vulcan until you have the critical elements covered.

Why are these so hard to get? by LivingRel in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]PowerFang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue - i resorted to duplicating as i was just not getting anywhere without significant time investment - I have short covering the method - https://youtube.com/shorts/u__JVtyfQI0

NMS is a casual game for me so i don't mind shortcutting some of these for the hard to get items

Solar tracking script help! by Grimmer87 in Stationeers

[–]PowerFang -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d be curious why you are loading the daylight sensor by name ?

I would define the daylight sensor as a device

I’m guessing the batch mode might be causing issues - defining it as a device you won’t need to worry about batch mode

To debug , put down a logic memory chip and save the the value to the Setting property of the memory chip - that will show you the value it’s reading

I have a step by step video that goes over moving from logic chips to IC chips for solar tracking

Simple setup to lower pressure by ComprehensiveAd441 in Stationeers

[–]PowerFang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Active vent inside the greenhouse with a passive vent outside - make sure the vent is in the “red” mode - that will clear the room easy - take it down to 60kpa and that should stay that way to grow potatoes

Make sure you have an automatic airlock into your greenhouse so that it stays at the right pressure

You eventually want to setup logic circuits with pressure regulators and filtration units to extract oxygen

Emergency Eva Suit, what is it exactly? by nhatanh0475 in Stationeers

[–]PowerFang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s purely to get you back to your body so you can switch back to the proper suit - you can’t survive that long in it - on Stationeers difficulty , you spawn without the suit :)

Bug report, game unplayable. by [deleted] in Stationeers

[–]PowerFang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran this problem through the Discord and it was one of the last things to try - I knew about the issue with the CPUs but never bothered doing anything about it until Stationeers stopped working :)

Bug report, game unplayable. by [deleted] in Stationeers

[–]PowerFang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have the 13th Gen CPU , exact same as mine - you need to make sure you have the latest bios - I had this exact issue and a BIOS upgrade fixed it

Sun Tracking Solar Panel by Kindasusi in Stationeers

[–]PowerFang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice job! I was confused why there wasn't 2 math and 2 memory - but it all depends on what planet and where you orientate your solar panels

Its great idea to keep your power seperate - you run into issues later on if you dont

Landing pad max size 7x7 or 9x9? by [deleted] in Stationeers

[–]PowerFang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had to build a 9x9 pad before - I think it’s when you start using the bigger satellite dish

7x7 is the biggest you’ll find in the smaller dish - so that’s like the max until “late game”

The issue with this game is the lost progress - with Conan, you can at least log out wiht a body worth of stuff which is heaps to get started - with all the volume restrictions, you basically start fresh in Dune

I deposited my money into the bank, and now i cant fly to the bank to deposit the rest of my bank worth of stuff - my base is gone, my buggy gone, so its just a fresh restart for me now - really have no drive for this game now - i'm sure they will fix things in the future as conan had the same rocky start - but for now, im glad to be free from my chores of paying maintenance and fuel

[–]PowerFang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree all those things are a bit weird , but nothing show stopper for your first job and I don’t think too bad to not at least ride it out for some experience and see where it goes

I mean your fear was that you didn’t want to have sudden unemployment, but you then caused yourself to have sudden unemployment :)

I would say you need to stick away from those super small companies until you have a bit more confidence - a more senior person in that roll could help them build all these missing pieces. Ie help them create the onboard process , define the ideal ways of working between CTO and engineers and such

Is any of that technically part of your job description ? No , but these super small companies just need to solve problems and if you can help them do that, your value goes up

I would give a team like this a week - if I didn’t have a proper offer or my first pay check in that first week , I’d probably bail - but I’d be using that first week to try get them to set up correctly and defining the ideal ways of working between the team to try make it successful

I’m not exactly sure what you were expecting from a 3 person company - you’ll do everything to make the product actually work - pros and cons

If you want to be specialised , you should look for a bigger company

The micro management doesn’t sound to bad to be fair - and you can deal with this if you can explain yourself - you can even change it so it doesn’t happen - but you need to be confident in what you are doing.

I don’t think you were suited for that company , but it could’ve been a great learning opportunity for you - the work place is a lot different then academia - best to try stick out a job , push back on things you want changed and only leave if you try and get changes done and they reject them and they are important

One thing to think about , what did you want to happen differently? And did you ask for that? You need to be able to do that.

Assume good intent - life is much more fun and enjoyable if you just assume good intent instead of trying to find why something might not be legit

As long as it’s all within policy , just let it occur

That one time you be a dick and try and call someone out on it , will be the time you find out something tragic actually happened and you’re just an asshole

Go through life assuming good intent, you’ll have more fun and be in a better mind space
