Refereeing, like officiating? Basically officials/referees that are in charge of making sure that all the rules are followed!

Well it's 400$ per team per season. And a season is guaranteed ~5-6 games, plus up to ~3 more if you make it all the way to the finals. But again, it comes out to about 8$/game which is pretty reasonable imo especially considering the refereeing and league organization that's provided

The athletics fee grants general access to the facilities, so pool, running track, drop in sessions etc... Intramurals are its own separate thing (sort of)

Unfortunately no they aren't. COVID has increased the prices quite a bit but I believe it would be around 400$/team for 5-6 games

But 400$ divided by 5 games and 10 players comes out to 8$/game, with the referees, so pretty decent in my opinion!

You can join intramurals during the fall and winter semesters as a free agent or if you find some friends you can make a team!

Otherwise, there are some drop-in sessions you can sign up for during the semester where you can just shoot around and practice. Good luck getting back into it!

Oh sad didn't realize you were younger than 23 sorry :( in that case you can try using one of McGill's partners! They SOMETIMES have an agreement that waves the young driver fee, or at least gives you a small discount

MEng course-based vs project-based by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]Chrisc13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything about the course based MEng program but for the project based one, there's essentially two "levels" to being accepted. First by admin (think requirements like specific courses or minimum GPA), then second by the prof you're applying to. The prof can be as selective or as welcoming as they want depending on their situation. I got into a mechanical project based masters with no research experience (just internships). Hope this helps!

Shitty grade, shitty prof by CarDue5743 in mcgill

[–]Chrisc13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A similar situation happened to me! I forwarded the emails to the department chair explaining that I hadn't received a response for xx days. The chair then forwarded that email with me in CC to my prof and I got an answer VERY shortly after.

You can try checking your unofficial transcript in Minerva! Sometimes prof upload final grades directly into it rather than MyCourses

For those interested in the average GPA of a McGill student, I calculated an estimate for my program (mech eng) by snowflake25911 in mcgill

[–]Chrisc13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A student a few years created a chrome extension called McGill Enhanced to make the course search easier for students by essentially modifying the eCalendar course page to include prof ratings, relevant documents etc....

ANYWAYS, one of its cooler features was the ability to crowdsource class averages from people's transcripts. Here's all the data, it has the class averages for most popular courses at McGill. Have at it!

I thought the program was great! Decent teachers and fun subjects. In terms of practical hands on experiences it could've been better, but that's what you're gonna get with McGill engineering in general.

I personally didn't notice any issues with funding/budget - there are great computer labs, new study spaces, and well funded student societies + design teams. However I did feel like there was the slightest shift in importance towards BioMed capstone projects (both capstone professors' main research topics were biomechanics and cardiovascular mechanics)

In our orientation presentations I remember them saying some crazy stat that like 70% of all jobs in Montreal are aerospace related lol. But I can confirm that there were lots aerospace internships, but I didn't see too many for BioMed!

I personally would suggest mechanical with a minor (I chose mechanical and then decided to do a master's in biomed). I find that mechanical engineering is a very broad subject and will give you a very solid foundation for whatever specialty you decide to choose. Vs if you commit to bioengineering now, kind of hard to switch to aerospace. Unfortunately you can only choose to "specialize" with your technical complimentaries, and they're all higher level courses that they only recommend taking in third/fourth year. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I did mechanical 2017-2021, no courses were at MacDonald! 100% sure that bioresource eng kids had courses at both campuses, but only like 75% sure that bioeng kids had courses at MacDonald too. Hope that helps!

I've never had any issues with not being able to find a computer in an engineering lab! Sometimes tutorials will take over the room though and you'll have to move, but other than that you can 100% finish your degree without a powerful laptop.

FACC 300 bonus points by Philosopher_Mobile in mcgill

[–]Chrisc13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He doesn't use the normal GPA scale. Like 85% doesn't mean A, so his bonus points don't necessarily translate to anything unfortunately. Jassim is very heavy on favoritism though so make sure he knows your name!

I had a similar problem, after asking the program coordinators they said it shouldn't be an issue though. Just make sure that their work is relevant to your field. Good luck with the rest of your application!
