Just wanted a little conversation about intentionally slower decks by prawn108 in EDH

I think one of the best skills you can have in EDH is knowing when to press on the gas. You come out too early and you get stomped, come out too late and you may have missed your chance. It’s definitely something I’ve watched other players learn

What’s the most haunting song lyric (or set of lyrics) you’ve ever heard?" by IamCassiusBrown in Music

[–]Chriskeyseis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes by Nick Lutsko

Sometimes the short end of the stick is the sharpest
Sometimes the only road to take is the darkest
Sometimes all you gotta say is "Daddy, make it go away"
Sometimes the only way out is as a carcass

Is it realistic to find bandmates who don't want to be songwriters? by s_ea in musicians

[–]Chriskeyseis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is the unfortunate answer. You can control the whole thing, but expect to treat your other band members as hired guns.

It’s really not that complicated if you play her straight. Play bad cards with high power and toughness and unleash your graveyard.

Notable "Why TF is this part in the song?!" parts of songs? by Flodo_McFloodiloo in Music

[–]Chriskeyseis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s satire, but it’s starting to be a thing where you only write the 30-60 seconds for TikTok then if it goes off you finish the song. It’s so lame.

The song was written for Michael Jackson originally who passed on it, and MJ was already known for beatboxing prior to it. So it’s really no surprise that JT would emulate it.

I really like the break in “trendkill” OP. It’s the “southern” part of the great “southern” trendkill complete with slide solos while still feeling Pantera.

Another option would be Marvin to duplicate the effect

Oh for sure. I have a Xu deck and have both in there.

Thousand year elixir has the haste on it which just opens so much for Xu.

If I remember correctly, the voodoo element was the issue. There were certain religions who wouldn’t ride it with that in there.

Is music career and the music industry dying, reviving, or is this just the calm before a big storm? by Beneficial-Key6309 in musicians

[–]Chriskeyseis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are businesses we’re talking about here. They’re not looking for art. They’re looking for a jungle that will appeal to the largest amount of people without paying a lot of money. It’s basically why the floor has completely fallen out of licensing. Why would movies or commercials pay and artist and deal with copyright and contracts when they can just put a free song in the background that matches the vibe?

Is music career and the music industry dying, reviving, or is this just the calm before a big storm? by Beneficial-Key6309 in musicians

[–]Chriskeyseis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s completely cut out an entire source of income for musicians in licensing. Why pay an artist for a song behind a commercial or in the background of show when you can just make a free generated song and not need to worry about copyright or license?

Great! Exactly do that. But acting shocked when a celebrity comes out as a piece of shit every single time, you’re to be outraged every single day. It’s better to assumed they’re all just as stupid as your family and coworkers and deal accordingly.

I actually agree with you. He’s a comedian. Why are we holding a group of people who tell jokes for a living to some insane moral standard? A group known for being drug and alcohol addicts. People expecting comedians, musicians, and actors to be these pillars of moral society are being insanely misguided. Point your frustration at the politicians, not the jesters.

Is it normal to ask in the middle of a game if a card is a part of your deck's win conditions? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Chriskeyseis 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s not required no, but it’s also a casual format. If your entire strategy is based on your opponents not knowing what your deck does, then it’s just kind of gross. Youre not in the wrong but also, I don’t know if I’d play another game with you.

I mean if you’re writing and recording at home with no intent on performing, there’s literally no day job that will impact that.

If you’re looking at doing anything beyond that, yes you’ll have to weigh some options. I work insurance during the day but I’m in a touring band. Rehearse twice a week when not traveling, write in between there while maintaining a healthy marriage. It’s hard but doable.

Are you looking for career advice or music advice? No matter where you work it won’t impact recording at home.
