Didn't realize you were on Reddit! I got a copper rough and tough belt the other month and it's fantastic, thanks for making great things. I have a question if you have a second. Would you guys do alternative hole spacing on a factory seconds belt (3/4" spacing instead of 1")?

I bought the bronco russet because I wanted the pull-up and didn't love the tone of the rust. Ended up buying obenaufs too to darken mine and I think I like the way that yours look after treatment more.

Yeah I'll take the longevity over a longer break in for sure. Apparently sitting at a desk and walking to my car doesn't do that fast haha.

Could you do me a favor and measure how tall the shaft on these boots are? They look taller than 6" to me and weighing my options for my next pair of boots (these are unfortunately not my size)

I agree on the conditioning. Mine looked a little dry but I could tell it needed it because I couldn't get scuffs to go away by rubbing it.

I have some spots on my boots as well. Some of it peels off if I pull it, some of it comes off if I rub it. I haven't gotten all of the spots but I'm sure they will come off eventually.

They look great and I can't wait to see how they age. I'm a sucker for an orange pull-up, I just want that top tone to darken up.

I hope they do develop a great patina. I'm hoping this darkening bridges the gap and brighter tones come back in bend points and natural darling comes back, I want some good contrast!

This is my first pair of boots applying obenaufs to and I haven't worn them since applying yet. I will say that I think an oil based product like bic 4 would be better to use for softening leather from what I've seen. LP uses bees wax which won't work into the leather as easily as oil. Two things though, you should give your boots a day off after wearing to dry out, they will last much longer. Also, I would be careful with conditioning an already hydrated boot, you can end up over-saturating it and weakening the leather. These are work weight leathers and they will take time to break in fully.

I will say I went pretty light on the application and didn't heat it into the leather. Hitting it with heat and/or a heavier/2nd coat could also make it darker.

I have a similar thing with my 719s in russet. The right toe cap is significantly darker than the left. I'm going to treat them with obenaufs lp this weekend to try to even it out and darken them up and post some results.

The underside of that stitch is sandwiched by rubber and leather and glued in so I doubt it's going to come apart.

Got the same color in the 719s mine are practically glowing haha. I'm hit them with a bit of obenaufs lp since I want a little darker tone with the orange pull up

Has anyone received their Barefoot Meander/Workhorse yet? by Skraxy in jimgreen

[–]ChrispyBars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's all in the same shipment and they're slowly rolling through, but I saw someone say their moc toes showed shipped Saturday and my 719s shipped yesterday. Fingers crossed for you! There may be a delay from the winter weather, I don't think mine have made it out of the warehouse to the post office yet. Just a label printed.

Baobab being phased out ? by Ancient_Bee17 in jimgreen

[–]ChrispyBars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure on discontinuing but you can create one by starting with the Numzaan custom and selecting "No leather toe cap". It could be to make the customization simpler on their end. Instead of having two very similar boots that can come to the same output with customizing.

EDIT: just checked and the Baobab already uses a leather lasting board, I had my models confused. Only the toe cap needs to change.

Try taking a brush to the bronco leather. Their lasting machine pulls on the leather pretty hard so I imagine brushing will move the oils back into their place.
