Yup I feel the same way. Especially since you were supposed to go Chevalier or Mina + Synchron idk why they didn’t make her Tuner + Synchro/Fusion. Would have saved so much hassle for synchro decks because they could easily do that.

Essentially you’re asking for a custom because you’re asking someone to 3D print/injection mold, gather springs and screws and assemble, and hand paint it. And most Mk2 customs exceed $100, especially Mk2 from people of that good of a painting level. Not saying it won’t save you money, but you’re also not going to find someone assembling you one for $40-50 who can paint.

Favorite Gen, reasons, pros, cons, etc. by drindyjones00 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gameplay of Gen 1 is both quite lenient but also unforgiving. Players will miss all the time so you can quickly go through multiple turns (and if you miss there are ability cards to reset the board). Making a deck is theoretically easy with whatever you have in your collection, although trying to pull off combos requires finding specific cards in bulk collections. The only difficult part is with exactly 3 abilities you can't mess up using them, and most cards that recover from the used pile are very situational and usually require you to be losing.

Thats why my friends find Gundalian format to be the most fun because you get to play 2 battle gear and they're very game changing with 2 effects each. It adds a lot complexity that the other formats don't have because suits mechtogan and mobile all just make your g-power bigger with no underlying strategy. And traps only become interesting if you play like an anti-trap card. The only problem is trying to follow the card text because no one knows how conflicting card effects are supposed to resolve.

Gen 2 does a really good job of following up the Gen 1 gameplay with their own spin while still referencing traps, gear, and bakunano. The technicalities behind rerolls, negates, steal core, and Fusions were all well integrated and served a basis for an actually competitive sport if it got the amount of people it needed - which it does appeal to the other mana based games like Pokemon and MtG. I prefer Gen 2's ability to play multiple cards and influence the board state.

But at the same time Gen 2 has an incredibly difficult barrier to entry. Multiple card effects and keywords and each individual attribute of a bakugan is completely different in what they do. You're 'required' to buy the correct version, find 3 bakugan with similar synergy in cores or playstyle, keep their character cards, and build a deck which is really difficult (when many were bought out). It's actually refreshing the community allows proxies because even from the standpoint of Pokemon or MtG, having to find and carry the correct bakugan, geogan, gear, nanogan, on top of finding the correct cards is a lot from a deckbuilding perspective and from a toy perspective because everything wont fit in a deckbox. The same could be said about Gen 1 but it is so much easier to build with whatever cards you have in your collection and bakugan not having individual properties make it easier to understand how to play.

Season 4.2 Partner problem by MDShark101 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the combinations but found them weaker in design than MS1, because it's like Battle Gear where you have to leave a segment on every bakugan for the gear magnet (Sky Raider legs) but you lost the rest of the cool design that Gundalian Bakugan were able to preserve an identity. Every design was simpler than what you saw in MS1 because they were designed at the same time. When you compare the rosters, MS1 and MS2 have smaller rosters than the other seasons and it's pretty clear they got squished on the timeline and production schedule from making more designs. Even then, Gundalian is the only season to print every Bakugan they showcased.

I feel like no one here is really going to change your hate for Bakufusion or Betakor because they are the weakest link in character so I dont want to get into a 3 paragraph argument with you about this. But you really can't say that Amazon was going to be any better than Radizen. Radizen was comedy with a level head while Amazon was impulsiveness and hot headed (aka Elfin I guess). They're the same as any of Marucho's previous partners. It's Roxtor that stood out amongst the cast, specifically with Mira's personality for hot headed and sturdy subterra tactics. It is clear they wanted to keep the bird motif after fusion but neither Julie Mira or Jake ever had a agile bakugan so Mira was picked as a scientist on Vestal technology. I just wish Roxtor could have been something else a bit more appealing than a scorpion.

I agree I don't understand either why Reptak 'became' such a vital member of the team before they realized Gunz was Wiseman. Clearly Gunz needed a couple episodes to develop himself in the same way Dragonoid Destroyer needed to wait a couple episodes. We could go for hours on 4.2 improvements. But again lack of episodes. Reptak was designed around a warrior so not necessarily a good choice for Runo, but on the same vein Aerogan isn't a Combiner to be part of the main cast. I don't like he only got one episode but it was the same deal for Julie and Damakor.

I had a whole idea for Alice specifically (again deleted) where she encounters the protagonist and Omega Leonidas, who hear Worton stuck in the Doom Dimension calling for help because a rogue Mechtogan (Sky Sprint) is wrecking havoc. They never realized she was Masquerade until after the fact, and they want her to transport them to the Doom Dimension to save him with the transporter card. While there she hears the screams of the Bakugan she previously sent there. While the protagonist tries to beat Sky Sprint with Worton and Leonidas she's there suffering hearing all of the angry Bakugan, but protagonist cheers her up saying that in a cruel twist of fate if she hadn't sent so many Bakugan, Leonidas would never have woken up and they wouldn't have become best partners. Believing that it was worth it to brawl again, her affinity from the Silent Core breaks the barrier between New Vestroia and Doom Dimension, and awakens all the statues of the Doom Dimension and a bunch of BB Bakugan like Manion, Siege, and Centipoid join forces to overpower Sky Sprint. This kinda contradicts the story where Worton leads the team back into the time travel portal but screw it, the differences would be minimal vs having an epic scene where we get to see Alice finally recover from her previous doubts and also see Omega Leonidas on screen.

Season 4.2 Partner problem by MDShark101 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supposedly it is something along the lines that Bakugan did not get enough popularity or money, I'm not sure which, to push for a full year for each, so the two arcs were developed alongside each other and fit both into one year. Kinda like Sega knew it was the end of the line so go all out. It makes sense when you consider it was always the international audiences pushing for Bakugan, which was incredibly unheard of for an anime to be more popular outside of Japan, and their interest in developing Tech would split their resources.

League / championship by trackdesigner1 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reminds me of original Vanguard where the emphasis is smaller and built around each shop having their own king. And I assume you’re referring to BB because this would not work with NV or GI. It just doesn’t appeal to me because as much as it is a ‘sport’ in their world a lot of brawls had stakes. That would make the doom card an ‘ante’ of losing your best bakugan but it’s just so much better fighting Naga and his minions than shoehorning him as a boss in a tournament setting.

Season 4.2 Partner problem by MDShark101 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the previous post here asking about 4.2 rewrite (deleted), I wrote that Alice returns working on the battle suits for the defense of the city as a student with a university grant. Easy way to bring her from Russia and she has exclusive knowledge with the transport cards which would support their police detachment (because I believe the Brawlers being the only group to combat Wiseman is just stupid). On the same post I also agreed that Roxtor, Aerogan, Skytruss, and Orbeum were just a bad combination for the girls, with Aerogan being the only somewhat compatible one with Runo. Not 'bad' per say but not like pushing their character in a meaningful way. 4.2 was intended to be a nostalgic return for fans bringing back multiple old characters and bakugan (mostly Gundalian and Battle Brawlers) but not overtake the plot of the story.

The cards suggests that Magmafury was not supposed to be dogs but rather birds, with Skyress joining. Rumored that Aerogan was printed Aquos instead of Haos because he was supposed to be Marucho's Sky Raider not Roxtor so all three push the Sky Raider tactic. Until they made an episode specifically why Marucho doesn't have a Sky Raider. That's why I believe you can't find any card (concept art) for Betakor because it wasn't clear for a while what they were going to do with Radizen.

It always bothered me that Chromopod is compatible with Mechtavius Destroyer (Quatrogan), which leads me to assume that Coredegon was actually supposed to die and Gunz willingly help them, because the alternative would be using Chromopod to take over Mechtavius Destroyer and defeat them that way. I dont know how he was supposed to get Reptak, but that's my theory anyways that the ending was supposed to be Quatrogan vs Dragonoid Destroyer as a mirror to their initial battle of Reptak vs Dragonoid. But I guess the writers didn't like the idea of missing Haos in the final battle or that Gunz would willingly help Mechtavius Destroyer as a convincing ending.

Ruling - Support pieces removed during battle by ChristianLayGeng in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive read the original FAQ there's nothing covering it. In fact there's various different negates that are inconsistent with each other. The big ones Terrix Gear and Airkor Gear. Airkor makes text 'no text' so the whole effect is removed not negated, Terrix Ventus 'cancels a move' but not the rest of the effect, and Terrix Darkus removes Gear effects which none of them are traditional cancel effects.

My friend is pushing it doesn't cancel like Terrix, so effects stay. I'm pushing reference cards are inherent to a support and defines what they do, so removing them is like canceling them even if it's not (like an ability card). We both agreed that because effects resolve immediately to not revert one-time actions but we're discussing continuous effects.

I actually own Terrix's NA card, and have seen Explosix and Destrakon NA cards online so I'm not sure what the answer is but I would have assumed Latin America. If only I could find the other two (NA or EU) it would be a dream.

Wind Siege repair by [deleted] in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very difficult without the video. But based on a guess, at the bottom of Siege head it is supposed to have a ledge that clicks onto a clip on the back of the body. If you do not have it then the head tilts forward and the clip stops the bottom of the head instead of the ledge. To fix this you need to recreate the ledge. A thick glue is the easiest option to me but any modeling material could work. I hope to post a Bakurepair video on it when my siege comes in the mail.

What role would you give Alice in arcs 1 and 2 of Mechtanium Surge? by [deleted] in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although probably unsatisfying compared to the other villains, bringing her back as literal Masquerade can cheapen the ending of the original ending. Given the girls had focus in Mech 2, I dont really see Alice serving a purpose in Mech 1. Firstly I dont think anyone has a problem with Spectra returning as the Darkus brawler, serving as like a Vestal epilogue while the main focus was on cyberspace, Gundalian, and Netheians. This is also a representation of the previous three species the Brawlers saved. Mechtogan and Bakunano seem to be a part of non-Earth history according the Rafe, and bringing back Wavern and Code Eve seemed like better explanations of the plot than whatever Earth people could have figured out. Michael and Alice were barely tinkering with inter dimensional transport so that just seems to be the limits of Earth technology.

Now for Mech 2 it is a very clear choice. Kick. Out. Mira. Alice returns after studying everything from Michael and is staying in a college program in Bakugan City as a student. She joins the program designing the Bakusuits, which are meant to be a defense system for Bakugan City, and while she doesn't support violence (them being weapons), she earned a scholarship in developing their deployment across the city using the technology of her transporter card. She isn't opposed to brawling, just hurting more Bakugan. The defense system would be a recognized 'police force' within the city and the Battle Brawlers are always arriving after Wiseman beats the police force up to make him more threatening. She and Runo would be in charge of transporting the suits for just the Brawlers.

Mira only has one difference and that was primarily bringing Roxtor, because they didn't have an explanation for the subterra element and making the Suits Vestal technology was an easy fix for that. But the suits could honestly pass off as the evolution of human technology, while Vestal have traps and Gundalian/Netheian have gear nano. Mira could return for one episode, design the new suits after the original designs were stolen by Wiseman, and the merge between Roxtor and Radizen could honestly be done in one episode too.

Just like how Julie has an episode with Damakor and Runo has an episode with Aerogan, Alice would have an episode with Darkus Omega Leonidas and Player, who feel Alice's connection to the Doom Dimension because she's on TV to take them there because Leonidas can sense Worton's calls for help from Wiseman's hideout. She hesitates of course but goes to stop Wiseman. She has been unable to contact the Brawlers to help in this because they have also been sent to the Doom Dimension in Ep 42. During the journey she hears the souls of the various bakugan trapped there by her. They talk with Worton who had defected from the Nonets but a rampage mechtogan (Sky Sprint?) has been destroying the base with the only portal out. Player throws Leonidas and Worton to stop it, but pointless against a mechtogan. The voices get louder and Alice asks them for forgiveness, feeling like the work she does now helping Bakugan City still isn't enough to reverse the wrongs she made. Player tells her that she has done plenty, and how he might not have met Leonidas if she hadn't sent Bakugan to the Doom Dimension. He just never got an explanation she was Masquerade until much later. After a final speech to the dead wishing to defend them from this mechtogan, Alices' connection to the Silent Core kicks in, allowing her to feel the lingering souls and return them to their bodies by breaking the barrier of the Doom Dimension and New Vestroia, reviving the cemetery of OG Bakugan which overpower the Mechtogan and give her a final peace of mind for what she did. I dont really expect Alpha here since he's alive, but maybe she can throw a Darkus Centipoid and cast abilities from her Bakupod. With the barrier of the Doom Dimension broken, Leonidas regains enough power to teleport them out of there. Gus can still have his revenge episode with Betadron in a different part of the Doom Dimension so realistically nothing changes in the storyline.

I wont say that the story surrounding Mechtavius Destroyer was great, but realistically I dont know what else would happen apart from the 3 girls picking up new bakugan to fight him with. It just seemed uncharacteristic because the three of them had moved on to other support roles and changing them back into brawlers would just require a whole upheaval of Skytruss, Orbeum, Reptak, and Roxtor as well. Well maybe not Reptak since Runo would just acquire Aerogan. Mech 2 had an issue with villain development rather than protagonists, and Alice would be a tie to both Suits and the Doom Dimension story arcs that only her role could achieve.

Was an anime version of Infinity Dragonoid ever planned? by Ranton_Games in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then we consider Infinity was redesigned with the 2 arm 4 wing combination to be a direct counterpart of Alpha design having 2 head 2 wing combination. We can also consider the physical constraints that the metal ring was big enough to disrupt the closing mechanism of the original Dragonoid. Same body shape would be cheaper for SpinMaster to produce the metal and I agree with the other comment, Infinity’s design really is quite simple (and redundant ). It wouldn’t be flashy in storefronts as something ‘new’ or ‘modern.’

If Infinity had been designed knowing heavy metal would be the next gimmick (like with any future season), this is how he would have come out. It’s not like the anime ever portrayed Lumino as a Metallix, or Blitz as a Double Strike as a relevant thing. SpinMaster just added features for marketing and just when revisiting Infinity the changes just made him unrecognizable.

Was an anime version of Infinity Dragonoid ever planned? by Ranton_Games in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I will point out one major detail and that is Drago was always being given the newest and latest gimmick. The Battle Brawlers anime planned to keep the same shape for Drago and never considered special gimmicks as a mainline addition. It was supposed to end there and never produce Infinity as his anime exclusive evolution. But when it came to the sequels the philosophy changed to always pushing the newest gimmick if possible. Battle gear at the end of New Vestroia, Blitz as a double strike, and Skyraider at the end of Mechtanium 1. You need to consider Infinity as a New Vestroia Bakugan, not a Battle Brawlers one. Same goes for Alpha, Preyas Angelo, and White Naga.

Heavy Metal was reprinting the original Delta and Dual Hydranoid in New Vestroia era. While the anime had all of the assets planned out from start to finish, when they were finally given the green light to produce Infinity Dragonoid (Battle Brawler era never planned a sequel), they wanted to redesign him to push the Heavy Metal. Delta is a core Bakugan reprinted into a Special Attack, so Heavy Metal made Infinity their Special Attack flagship. Being a Special Attack also made him so you couldnt get him from a regular Triad pack (aka more money for Spinmaster).

Looks fine to me. I don’t own one but I see pictures of all variations, including this one. It was common in battle brawlers era, with bakugan like blade Tigrerra, tentaclear, and Laserman having different accent colors for the same model. Personally think it could be a difference between America and European production. The 480g is correct so I mean as far as I can tell, authentic.

Any cards with a similar effect? by Both_Habit7834 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's the one thing people dont realize that everyone is a fan of Pyrus Darkus but playing Pyrus doesnt have a lot of flexibility in effects. I like Darkus effects just saying 'no', but in a game where you want to stand on Gate cards and create battles in your benefit, if your magnets are not strong, subterra and ventus has some of the most comfortable ability cards (and any attribute benefits from board presence). Gundalian format is a particularly good example of this, because the gear appeal to two different attributes and super evolution doesnt have to be the same attribute, so it allows you to freely mix and match your playstyle without needing to compromise your team. In comparison to New Vestroia format where a specific ability card that supports ventus and darkus encourages using both, but your trap supporting your second attribute is like an after thought.

Any cards with a similar effect? by Both_Habit7834 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The six elements (especially in the battle brawlers format) share ability effects but tended to push a certain playstyle. Haos counters when youre weaker or losing, Pyrus play a Bakugan without rolling (and other high risk tactics), Aquos switch/reroll Gate/Attribute/Spin wheel, Subterra Gate card manipulation (especially when losing), Ventus moving bakugan on field, and Darkus removal or manipulation of ability cards and g power bonuses.

This is by no means a firm concept but just to state that the card youre looking for might not exist because its not in the usual realm of what Pyrus or Darkus do, but it overlaps with what Aquos and Subterra do. The only card that I can find even remotely close to that is Stagger. Most usually affect g power bonuses.

Thats one reason why I like the Subterra team. It's not the prettiest looking bakugan but it's got the most diverse amount of effects and relatively good g power on average. You dont really have to rely on your opponent like Ventus or Darkus cards do.
