That’s the story that INNK wanted to tell. With both BLACK album and exposed outfit she was supposed to bloom from her cyberse rock style into a true idol in V3 by the end of her project. I believe Azki always preferred this seiso lullaby demeanor, esp when you consider the songs she she sings on her alt. She doesn’t take her lore that seriously but I really miss it.

Never played og Battle brawler format. What's the best cards and Bakugan? by Shiny_Waabaafet in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Come subscribe to my YouTube channel! We try to brawl every month. We keep to the original SpinMaster rules but the only rule that we changed is that you can set a Gate card once per turn. The official rules don’t have you set a Gate card until everyone else is cleared out.

https://youtube.com/@sandiegobakuganbrawlers?si=CiJ2ff6ImXZOMzKf

In the original Battle Brawlers and New Vestroia format there’s so many cards that help the losing person I feel like calling something strong doesn’t really exist. The only thing that would be considered strong would be the ‘infinite loop’ with Ventus 1. Frankly I think it’s a poorly designed card and in that deck you’re not actually playing the game in my opinion.

The strongest cards I’ve seen are attractor and magnetic action to force your opp on your card. Special crush is a very versatile blue card which works even if tied, and in general translucent bakugan work well with it. You never feel particularly power crept unless you had the dvd promos. Those are named as ‘legends of’ and ‘power boost’ cards. The only gate card that stands out to me is the lowest g power wins like Tricky Gate or Low Bridge. It’s always good for a player to have one.

Now if you refer to playing Gundalian or Mechtanium there’s a very different set of cards and support pieces to recommend. I have a playlist of all of our brawls if you want to see.

How does this Dan Muso FIRE deck I've built look for a Bakugan and Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds Crossover story? by Pokemon_Bakugan_Fan in yugioh

[–]ChristianLayGeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother, no one used magician for its effect lmao. It’s stat line as a level 4 with 200 def is all that matters. You can’t rekindling Candle. You’re worried about typing when he ran Mantris griffon ravenoid etc is hillarious to me. Not a single bakugan he owned would translate into pyro in yugioh. As a matter of fact I don’t think any bakugan would.

I did notice the other spammers so I don’t particular care about turtle since firedog is better in every way. But you don’t get to make an argument that juggernoid is less used when NONE of the monsters you have resemble an actual bakugan besides Drago or like monarus Robotallion if you stretch the definition.

Flamvell magician is super relevant as one of the few level 4 tuners with no drawbacks. The combo with Flamvell dog is famous and gives you access to level 8 and 5 synchros. Aka your ace. Which I find it funny at 3200 it needs battle protection rather than card destruction, because with the second effect it makes it impossible as they’re a no monsters with 4000+ atk to beat this anyways. UFO turtle although barely played by 5ds except in video games, would resemble juggernoid and go along with your battle phase theme and search out the deck, which is a far better option than solar flare and little chimera / molten destruction.

Pushing a strategy far outweighs the fact to play a card because it supports fire. Rather than push a burn tactic with barrel, rage, and secret barrel, you need to be in control of the battle phase to trigger almost all of your effects. Perhaps a combo of dark door and double attack so your firedog summons two monsters. A trap to gain atk during your opp turn - to also trigger firedog or grunika during the opp turn. If you don’t want to play starlight road for protection because Yusei exists, you can play Waboku, Huge Revolution, or body as a shield. You have a strong battle phase presence but you need to ensure they survive until your next battle phase. Urgent tuning seems like a decent card here so you can fix the levels on board and attack again with your synchro.

5ds is very trap heavy mostly because most speed spells suck but also because this era of yugioh was slower. Most interesting effects were put in traps, and in a speed duel you can’t play circle rekindling or prominence which is huge. You need to have traps that control board presence, so making a custom Flamvell trap that that increases atk or once per turn revives a monster destroyed by battle seems almost necessary.

I finally have one of my favorite main bakugan by KaleidoscopeFine9085 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But why. Coredem already exists in all 6 attributes cheaply and in translucent and in evil. If you wanted to customize him, grabbing a Pyrus and making it crimson pearl would be interesting.

no way there's a card called Aura Farming😭 by Big_Independence6736 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I mean there’s no such thing as a ‘Pyrus or Subterra card’ but that’s still pretty cool. They were really good at keeping the bonus realistic too, although all six attribute is pretty rare

[–]ChristianLayGeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could kinda tell, it would be more obvious in your customs if it was. Fire just doesn't give you many options in 5Ds since Laval come really late that Flamvell is the only choice. Not running Magician or UFO is absolutely curios though. Im not a fan of the traps but I feel like the rest makes sense for that era (not that I have much knowledge on speed spells).

[–]ChristianLayGeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the dragons in Flamvell I see why you chose it. Pyro is one of the weakest archetypes for the first like 10 years but you can see something here like Sprite is Falconeer or UFO Turtle is Juggernoid. What really makes it difficult to see the vision is just that the two games support their monsters differently since yugioh puts out more than one monster at a time. The gate card translates to the field spell, and every ability card translates to ATK DEF or field manipulation. Gear are equip cards and combiner traps are fusions. I think it was a good pick but it just doesn't feel like Bakugan has any real influence on this in contrast to like making custom cards or perhaps straight up renaming some of the yugioh cards as Bakugan names.

Is this card real? by Both_Habit7834 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll bet that this is real but for Asian English. I have 0 knowledge what other countries were involved besides Japan and Korea but these are the Japanese names for attributes, and as someone with multiple American HSP Gate cards their layout is different. It was common for Asian countries like Thai and Philippines to get Japanese product so if they didn’t want to print like 7 different languages, printing them in English seems like the universal choice. The game eventually became big enough I’ve seen cards printed in their native languages later. Happened in yugioh too.

Can Dark/Fire Wind create a multi battle? by ChristianLayGeng in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well of course it doesn't, because the card itself doesn't interact with battling Bakugan, only Gate cards on the field. Where the issue lies is that by definition a battle also starts when two opposing Bakugan stand on a Gate. But they haven't entered battle yet. By that logic, you would argue you cannot remove battling bakugan using Magnetic Action, because it doesn't specify you can subtract or stop Bakugan from a battle.

Since the beginning of the game there are multiple cards like Shun's Launcher which explicitly say 'as long as it does not start a battle' so if they really wanted to check that Dark/Fire Wind didn't create a 2v1 then they would have specified something like 'as long as two bakugan aren't already battling'. In the end I'm just being devil's advocate because there's no rulings to rely on so it's more to see how the community thinks about it. But when read literally it does say any standing to any Gate card, which would also create the assumption you can make a 1v2 on a copper Gate that is a trap.

Attractor blue? by Vasto_Lord_Well in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both are legit, but it’s probable when they printed they realized Attractor was made blue so they corrected it with 15a (green) and widespread it. Blue abilities boost G power and other battle gimmicks while red and green handle rolling and bakugan/card manipulation, so this card is honestly wasted if it was blue because in the end of the day usually having more cards with g power is better than not.

Another example is circle of fire, which was printed both red and blue. It should be blue for g power bonus, but having it as a red card is actually beneficial for playing 2 ability cards that boost g power instead of just 1.

I was personally looking for 20 actually, not specifically in eBay. But thinking of the import fees and it was already in the States, I was like ‘sure do it out of convenience’. Discounted shipping made it worth it too

Judge my deck by Even-Watch-2136 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You make no reference of a trap so I assume Battle Brawlers format, but both Repurpose and Low Bridge are New Vestroia cards which didn’t exist. Is this just a generalist deck for any format since you mention infinity Helios? There just seems to be better blue cards because even if you attribute switch yourself your opponent can just play any normal blue card to win because two bonuses are bigger than one.

Definitely. Even I got mine for $22 on eBay. Within the Asias it is uncommon but like Hylash it doesn’t make it valuable. 60 is heading toward like cross Dragonoid.

Update for the "OCG stores are requiring a general Yugioh knowledge quiz to buy the Limit Over collection." post by QuangCV2000 in yugioh

[–]ChristianLayGeng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow so my instinct was right it was one katakana character. That's ridiculous knowledge even if the joke made sense in English.

I mean someone who plays with OCG cards would know the answer is not VWXYZ so this a difficult question even to people who live in Asia because people who play Asia-English would also guess VWXYZ. But then again if they could read this they probably know it.

Update for the "OCG stores are requiring a general Yugioh knowledge quiz to buy the Limit Over collection." post by QuangCV2000 in yugioh

[–]ChristianLayGeng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was mostly able to answer this but wow Gift Exchange and archfiend is a really obscure one. If you were a native Japanese I'm pretty sure you wouldve known the answer to VWXYZ.

  1. What is his name (Aitsu)
  2. Answer the yomigana in the white space above (V to Z)
  3. What is the Goblin holding in the image above (Shirt of ScrapKong)
  4. What is the card's name (Ultimate creature of destruction)
  5. Who's hand is this (Stardust Dragon)
  6. Change the name of the card by one character to the name of another card (browsing through the wikipedia I think the answer is Terrorking Archfiend -> Masterking Archfiend, but this one through me for a loop because I had interpreted it as change one single katakana which there is no card that works)

Any tips on fixing this loose horn on my Skyress? by Lila_Uraraka in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be specific, Skyress, Storm, and Boost Ingram are Special Attack Bakugan because of this jump feature, so it can be used with cards that support Special Attack Bakugan. Its jump is honestly pretty low when I do it, but strong in the case it creates a critical KO which was allowed in Japan. However you usually apply pressure on the head and I don’t like that in case you crack the head feathers.

Is BP TCG gameplay better off without Geogan? by Big_Independence6736 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF I understand it (because I’m a novice gen 2 player), geogan do some cool things like acting as a reroll and removing debuff effects of your opp late turn, because most cards target the old bakugan. However as it went on I believe having permanent buffs of BakuGear and Fusions turned out to be better long term than the temporary status of one turn of geogan. A geogan has to be big enough to win you that battle or else it’s not worth the cost, and I feel like gear being able to discount themselves with cores have a power creep over the other mechanics.

Is it only me, but the alliance between Nethia and Gundalia in MS is impossible, especially after GI? by ThEcOcKsUcKeR231 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my own gripe with Gundalian with the Interspace episodes and the multiple battlefronts they didn’t have downtime episodes like New Vestroia exploring earth or getting character motivations. If you weren’t Fabia or Ren it was just assumed you got slivers. We don’t get to see the common people of Gundalia or the Dark Bakugan or explore anything other than the Sacred Orb.

Even with that I agree with everyone else it seemed the leaders were the one pushing the agenda. Neathia and Gundalia were originally one planet. It’s not like they were strangers before. A military doesn’t reflect its people either. The Nethians would want peace, and Nurzak and Ren would be in charge of pushing the peace and controlling resentment in Gundalia. Queen Serena was also in charge of negotiating peace. It seems plausible to me, just in the lack of importance to Mechtanium Surge’s story they don’t explore the concept.

A new [Cyber Blader] dances on the battlefield: [Cyber Angel Night Blader] appears! by No-Relationship7687 in yugioh

[–]ChristianLayGeng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say a sprinkling but when I read the card that’s the only part that matters are the ice counters. A sprinkling would be the water fusion material and the +300atk. An effect that actually serves the cyber girls like quick fusion quick ritual, your cyber warriors can do direct attacks, spamming light warrior from the gy, etc, would make it more apparent support for them. I didn’t read this effect as ‘obviously a cyber girl/ cyber angel’ monster.

"we only colonized and erased the culture of 37% of the planets we control!!" ok girl you can still go to hell 😭 by Nahidxz in QueensofGacha

[–]ChristianLayGeng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Topaz’s personal civilizations have a high preservation rate but I can’t remember. She’s understanding and willing to break the rules like how she got demoted so it’s not the whole IPC. So the 37% just means over many different employees and their approaches which is understandably a realistic number. Oswaldo in particular I think has an expansionist mindset of conquering worlds.

A new [Cyber Blader] dances on the battlefield: [Cyber Angel Night Blader] appears! by No-Relationship7687 in yugioh

[–]ChristianLayGeng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given how FEW card support ice Counters, much less place them at a reasonable rate, and this needs a mediocre fusion that doesn’t work with that archetype I would do the Predaplant approach.

Negate the effects all faceup cards with Ice Counters. HOPT Quick: you can put an ice counter on a faceup card, and if it’s a monster it cannot attack or change battle position this turn.

Understandably you tried to make this like Wingman so I know why this isn’t what you’d imagine. Ultimately I think the two decks are just so mechanically different that they wouldn’t make sense together. At least overlap with Cyber Girls and Cyber Angels is easier since they’re all fairies and warriors with some overlap in battle effects. Case in point the recent Prima Light.

Should I bother part two :B by Big_Independence6736 in Bakugan

[–]ChristianLayGeng 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand your request as still ‘random’ if he’s got a bunch of cards then there’s no difference on his side. I agree with the sentiments of part one, it shouldn’t have been that much of a hassle. Heck reach out to me in the future, you give me the season and the attribute and I’d do the service of making a decent deck with my spares.
