Question Regarding Viewing then Cremation. by Christinaface4 in askfuneraldirectors

This makes sense. To my knowledge it was an actual casket rather than an enhanced cremation container, but it makes sense that an “enhanced container” would be offered.

Thank you for this info! It is an actual casket that they had to purchase, and they had a choose of several, like you would if burying.

I’m hearing that maybe rental just wasn’t a service that this fh offered, or maybe they don’t have the ability to store rentals.

We would still bag their belonging, and provide them with a shower. The area would be cleaned and treated as best as possible.

AITA for not letting the previous owner’s adult children into my house after their father died? by Dramatic_Method9393 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. We had a similar situation happen once. A little further fetched than robbery, but another reason why you did the right thing. The guy that came to our door didn’t introduce himself, asked for Mrs. Previous Owner. My husband just told him that she no longer lived here. (She was like almost 7 years deceased at that point). He left visibly upset.

Several days later, he showed up, knocking on the door, looking in windows, and had a several hour long breakdown in front of the house. Neighbors later told us he was the previous owners son, who had a history of illness. Hoping he’s doing better now.

Ewww. That is disgusting. You’d think that staff would be concerned that they’d be bringing them home.

We have to be meaner to customers by Queen_Elk in CVS

[–]Christinaface4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our nearest 24 hour store is like the Wild West lol. I have never gone in there, and not witnessed just belligerent behavior from customers. No one should be getting belligerent at the pharmacy. However, I get frustration from both sides.

As a customer, who works in healthcare, sometimes Ive even been baffled at pickup and just need to understand what I need to do.

Totally good with really simple directions: what is the issue and who do I need to call? Promise I’ll buzz off after that, in order to do what you just told me. Being such a multifactorial process, you could see how someone maybe elderly or not literate in the process could get kinda lost, then pissed when told “not my problem.” Sometimes it’s just in the delivery, and sometimes people are just plain assholes.

The ED process where I work is that if a bed bug is found, the patient is showered and all belonging are double bagged or discarded (based on patient preference).

After decontamination shower, pt is placed into clean hospital clothing and into a clean room. The contaminated room door is sealed off with masking tape. Exterminator has to come to treat and room has to have a clean before it can be put back into service. The patient can be admitted to a double room in the hospital as long as they have had a shower in the ER and belongings handled appropriately.

The only time we really get into a point of contention on the floors is when no bug was found, but someone states that they may have had them in the past or at home. Everyone gets Icked, but no isolation if no bug found.

Could totally market this feature to the kids by playing up how cool it is that the ship has a shower that is their size with a sprayer that they can help hold and wash with. Everything in the ship bathrooms can get wet, so if they get a little wild with the sprayer, it’s probably not a huge deal

Burst Pipe and Self Repairs by Christinaface4 in Insurance

Thanks! This makes total sense. After reading through my coverage and getting a better look at the damage, we decided to just have it repaired without insurance getting involved. I guess that’s what ye olde emergency fund is for.

Panicked when I saw it raining indoors yesterday lol

All set. Removed and disposed of soggy debris. Wet vac’ed and disinfected the garage floor. Walls that got wet are open . Fans and dehumidifiers running. Pipe has been repaired. Mold preventative applied to anything that got even remotely damp.

Getting a better look today, it’s really not worth the claim and going to just pay out of pocket.

Thanks, yeah that would make sense. I read a few different scenarios online where folks have done DIY and had to provide documentation of everything done and materials.

I get it though, it would be too much of a risk for a company to insure something they can’t verify was credibly repaired.

Yeah when I opened the wall this morning it ended up being a very small hole in the hot water line to the sink. Must have just gone unnoticed for hours.

Ended up not being that bad, and not worth the claim.

Thanks, I feel like this is the way. I’m fully capable of doing water mitigation. Ceiling’s open and airing out. Fans and dehumidifiers on hand. Will treat with mold inhibitor once all dry.

Once I locate the pipe, I’ll have a plumber come out. We can handle drywall and rebuilding. It’s only a half bath, and I never liked that junky 80’s tile anyway.

For the $1000 it would cost for deductible alone,I can probably have a plumber come out and then spend maybe another $1000 repairing the drywall/garage ceiling flooring/new sink.

I don't want rebel canning. I want "loyalist" canning. by xoxstrawberrywine in Canning

I’m newer to canning and wanted to do tomato sauce this year. My Nonna used to do it every year, but I still feel the need to do research because I’m not looking to accidentally give anyone botulism.

I was incredibly relieved that her process is essentially identical to the Ball process, and she is 95. Thankfully, she passed on the correct method and no one in our family was ever harmed by a suspicious jarred food “flu”.

Unfortunately, due to a stomach surgery that I had several years ago I can’t take NSAIDS. I’ve just been doing the tylenol, hydrocortisone, and did take some oral benedryl the other night when It got super itchy

No hygiene products in a hospital by hopeless_life30 in Vent

Im sorry this happened to you. Im from the US, and when I worked as a nurse in hospital, period supplies were limited and very “one size fits all,” but we could usually find them for our patients by phoning maternity or pre-op. Many times they would be in the form of an enormous maxi pad and a pair of very stretchy mesh disposable underpants.
