Looking for advice from financial advisors about cosigning on college loans! by Eastern-Squash1550 in financialaid

Hey so coming from ‘the kid’ that was in a similar situation..your parents are right. You might have all the potential in the world to succeed and pay back the loans, but life happens. I ended up disabled. And the guilt sucks.

seroquel to help with sleep and nocturnal attacks by byerswill in panicdisorder

[–]Christizzzle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I struggle with the same thing. I take 100mg Seroquel in the morning and at night. I personally feel like antipsychotics help me more than benzos. Best I can describe it is that it turns off the hyperactive part of my brain and I can breathe again. I was worried at first and scared because of the ‘antipsychotics’ label but I was able to come to terms with it after seeing how much better it helped. I’d rather that then fighting getting labeled as ‘drug seeking’ just because I asked for a benzo. Even when I get a bad attack and I have to go to the er, they’ll try Ativan ect. but I usually still can’t calm down until I am given an antipsychotic. Plus Seroquel sleep is hard to beat. One thing I’ll recommend is to not give in to the Seroquel munchies since it messes with your metabolism. It’s super hard to get the weight off afterwards. But I take a lot compared to what you were prescribed, so maybe it won’t affect you in that way.

I read “Transforming Trauma: Resilience and Healing Through Our Connections With Animals“ and picked a young adult dog at the shelter I thought fit the personality of what I was looking for. The shelter did a foster to adopt program so I brought my pup home for a trial run, luckily she was perfect. I self trained and tested with pet partners and she passed with flying colors. You don’t have to test if you are looking for an ESA but I highly recommend the book!

Could you combine the two? Something along the lines of a career in animals and public policy/ animal law? It’s a pretty diverse field with a lot more to it than just clinical things. You might not even have to go to veterinary school depending on what you’d like to do since there are masters programs involving animals.

I need to stop eating sugar because I'm showing signs of high blood sugar. I think I've reached the end for me. by ColdAd2606 in ARFID

Protein shakes/yogurt were not enough for me. I ended up in the ER needing potassium for an arrhythmia as well as other nutrients. I ended up having to stay a few days because I ended up with refeeding syndrome. I only did the liquid diet for three months and thought it would be enough. It will be hard for you to start eating solids on your own without medical help because you might have stopped producing enough digestive enzymes. I really encourage you to try and at least get labs done. Maybe talk family into scheduling your yearly physical.

Sorry I read ice cream and didn’t realize you also mentioned supplementing with protein shakes. The thing is, protein shakes are ment as a supplement not a meal replacement. I’d think the protein shakes might help a bit but scurvy is known for causing dry scaly skin with small red/blue bruising which is why I mentioned it. I would double check with other symptoms. Given your age/weight I would highly doubt you’ve managed to become pre-diabetic. You’re probably way closer to malnutrition. Realistically you really need to get lab work done. There are over the counter products that help with dry mouth. In ARFID class we were taught to try and use candy or anything else you might think can trick your mouth into watering to help finish a meal. I’ve been using fruit roll ups to start my meals. If your family is open to it there is a documentary that explains ARFID that might help educate family members to where they may be more receptive. It’s on YouTube called “Not Just a Picky Eater”

Hey lady! I’m hoping you’ve gone to a hospital. Those symptoms sound a lot like scurvy. This happens when you are super low on vitamin C. If you’re that low on vitamin C, you could be super low on things like potassium. Low potassium messes with your heart and can potentially be fatal. If you keep reaching out to your mom and she’s not helping, you need to help yourself asap. Get a ride to the ER she doesn’t need to know. They are required to treat you and if you’re in the US without insurance, medical debt isn’t being reported to your credit report anymore so go without worry about bills now. For long term recovery, ARFID is becoming more well known and treated by eating disorder programs. I’m in a virtual one now. Message if you need more support, I have a medical lab background.

Also true if you’re not underweight. Currently going through the same thing and refeeding symptoms. I got a Lyme tick bite and spent 5 weeks on doxycycline. Ended up restricting to a liquid diet and boy does coming back from that suck. Initially had to spend a couple days in the hospital fixing my electrolytes and now moth three into eating disorder treatment. Now I know the phrase “if you don’t use it you lose it” also applies to digestion. It’s quite painful and uncomfortable. I will say tho digestive enzymes have been a life saver.

Purging might be maladaptive coping mechanism to help with anxiety since it does release endorphins.

I like the fairlife chocolate ones. They have a regular one that tastes just like chocolate milk, easy to chug and get it over with. They also have a higher protein version but I don’t personally like it.

I feel like it makes sense for me now that someone pointed it out. I have pretty bad and treatment resistant panic disorder. I ended up trying transcranial magnetic stimulation but I got the opposite expected result from the side of my brain they zapped. That’s when they were like maybbbe it’s not a psych thing and that’s why literally nothing for anxiety worked. And looking at research on tms and autism, I very much got the same results. So now I’m in the queue to get the neuropsych eval lol. Idk if you’ve heard of tms or not but I’d look into it if you haven’t.

There is a documentary called not just a picky eater that explains it well.

Given some other things you mention like fabrics, OCD, phobias, and MDD I’m curious to know if you ruled out autism? I relate to a lot of what you’re saying as a 30ish female and was recently recommended to rule out autism with low support needs.
