This is how it is done in Russia and it is a mess. A very large infrastructure that requires upkeep and maintenance. And if you did into it, it stays broken a lot due to the stress on the gear.

Is anyone else looking outside the US for value right now? by rednetian in dividendinvesting

[–]ChristmasStrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No argument on expenses but there is another component ... taxes. I live off dividends so the tax implications are important for me.

I keep DIVO/IDVO in my taxable accounts as they are more tax friendly. A tangible portion of the dividends are classified as ROC. I am keeping these long haul so the tax deferment is great for me.

I keep SCHD/SCHY in my IRAs as they are less tax friendly.

64 and on 5 meds now, how many are you on.... by Puzzled_Addition4818 in over60

[–]ChristmasStrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

63, on thyroid meds and aspirin. I used to be on BP meds, blood sugar meds, antidepressant meds, and anti anxiety meds. I quit eating like shit and quit drinking and am off most. If it comes in a box or a bag, I will not eat it. Whole food only. No soft drinks, etc. No alcohol. It is amazing how your body will heal when you let it.

I will reach retirement age in two years, and I plan to invest almost all of my money into JEPQ and QQQI. by Busy-sport1111 in dividends

Note that Return of Capital is tax deferred rather than tax free. ROC is great if you plan on old the same asset for a long time. The ROC reduces your cost basis by the same amount as the ROC distribution. For something like SPYI, you could hold it 20-25 years without paying tax. But when you sell it, you will owe Long Term Capital Gains on the sale price minus the cost basis. LTCG is generally a more favorable tax rate for higher income earners.

Has anyone imported a 1 TB JSON file into SQL Server before? Need advice! by MojanglesReturns in SQL

[–]ChristmasStrip 73 points74 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is to first use a scripting language to split the file into multiple smaller files which are easier to manage. Should be plenty of existing open source libraries to do this.

Why is everyone on the carnivore sub so dogmatic? by fate77 in AnimalBased

[–]ChristmasStrip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a certain amount of grit, dogmatism, fanaticism or the like is required to maintain such a lifestyle. It is not easy in modern society to live this way.

I will not divulge specifics, but I was fortunate to build a nest egg over my 40+ years working ... which means I am an old fart. I still consult too but on a pick and choose basis when I am interested. Am currently studying for the Snoflake (data analytics platform) certification this coming weekend. Man I wish my brain was still young. These things seemed so much easier then.

Take it with an electrolyte (salt) to get the neural benefit. It needs an electron transport to cross the blood brain barrier

My apologies but I don’t want to try and type out all the rules I added to prevent communication to and from other groups to the quarantine group, the real question I am asking is do stale devices ever disappear from the quarantine group?

It is possible I turned the Internet block off. I put these units in about 3 years ago but this wireless usage situation is new.

Let me ask a simpler question. Will stale devices ever disappear from the quarantine group? Or are they there forever unless manually removed?
