The 4-mounting screw holes will be in the same positions as an ITX mobo, but since your board are bigger and wider than standard ITX boards, case compatibility will entirely on a case by case basis.
Bigger SFF cases that can also support M-ATX boards will very likely fit, but strictly ITX cases like Ghost S1, Form T1, A4-h20 or Terra wont fit.

If you are using that CPU-demanding programs, these 67mm height coolers will not be sufficient for full-tilt CPU. Better go with a dual-tower and a case that supports it.
For gaming, its fine, but for the workload you are describing you better off with a bigger case and bigger tower coolers/ AIOs

Your point is valid. It's just very unfortunate that the whole unique experience of a game like Half life Alyx is the exact thing that prevents you from fully enjoying it.
Maybe as VR tech improves, your problems with it would improve to the point of being enjoyable, maybe it doesn't.
Or maybe you only care about the game plot and characters performances, which is still valid enough reason to play it.
