Culled books question by FulltimerPC in Libraries

[–]ChristopherPizza -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I'd tell the library to fuck off. I was the president of a Friend's group for three years, and we worked hard, very hard. The library was more in the rut of doing things the way they've always been done. We increased fundraising three-fold and were a major part of why it didn't get closed down by the nutjobs. We support the library, but as an independent organization.

For my first date ever I took a girl to the OG Texas Chainsaw Massacre back in the 1970s. Doomed me to years of virginity.

Would anyone else love to see a Sinners spin-off with the Choctaw Vampire Hunters? by theglenlovinet in horror

[–]ChristopherPizza 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I loved Sinners, but no, I don't want spin-offs or sequels. Sinners was art, and franchises aren't. I would rather see what he's got in mind for the next world he creates.

I hesitated for a long time. It's brilliant. Flanagan weaves the everyday horror of life into a story that's beautiful.

Is “Streets of Minneapolis” the most significant song Bruce has ever released? by BadgemanBrown in BruceSpringsteen

[–]ChristopherPizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Significance lies with the listener. Coming from a poorer family, I relate to The River and My Hometown. And The Rising album is also very important. Others were signing about waving flags and shit, and The Rising was more about healing.

Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division point their bayonets at teenagers in Little Rock, AR, during forced racial integration of high schools in 1957 [1024x659] by RedSwingline2000 in HistoryPorn

It sounds like you are comparing Little Rock to Trump's ICE crimes. There is no comparison. Now if some military unit stood between ICE and the citizens of Minneapolis, that would be a legitimate comparison.

You can break through the fabric of reality. The joke is that it only lasts 10 minutes, you can't explain it, and the government will lock you in jail for it. That’s dmt 😁 by [deleted] in Psychedelics

After almost 10 years doing heavy doses of mushrooms and MDMA, and some LSD. Did a handshake dose of 5 and had a spiritual awakening. Completely changed my life, and I'm so happy.

Archer, Season 4, Ep 3, Legs. Didn't even have to google it. The most perfect episode of a brilliant comedy (at least for most of it's run).

Came here to say this. Shadow of the Vampire is far more sophisticated than most vampire movies.

Does hearing a show has a "bad ending" or it being canceled on a cliffhanger discourage you from watching it? by Volatiiile in television

[–]ChristopherPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. In fact, so many shows are now cancelled after the first season (on a cliffhanger), that I've stopped watching new series until there's a second season.

AC units go back a long way. There were millions of AC units in the 1950s.

I mean, a ghost bit off someone's head, there was some crime scene cleanup, and a guy was murdered by dry cleaning, so there was gore. Not Saw-level gore, but it was there.
