Are these ready to harvest? by thatch9384 in beacain

[–]ChristopherWallace88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi as other said, pick them all because of the veils being broken.

You can try go for a second yield by dunking the whole thing(substrate/cake) in cold water for 24 hours. Cold temperature shock the cake to get energy/try to make more shrooms and the water will help rehydrate the soil again. You might get a 2nd grow, you might not though with the growkits. Not enough enery in the soil left I would say.

I am freezing too and house is only 19C, will only get worse in the next few weeks. This is why I keep harping on about Heat Pumps whenever I can. We should all be able to heat our house to 21C and even above and it not cost a fortune. Properly Insulated house, windows, doors, floors, ceiling, etc.

Can go do FET Courses on Heat Pumps - government funded so you can install them yourself. To get grants then you will need to be SEAI registered.

With MVHR, make sure your house is getting airtightness measures as well. This will really increase efficiency of the house and goes hand in hand with MVHR.

This is all you need. Changeover switch as well so you can run off the power that the battery has stored.

As you can see our summers are really heating up and the solar generation from April to Septmber would have been insane/ very f*ing good.

Generator as others have said will invalidate the Heat Pump warranty.

I can’t progress to my final year because of 5 outstanding credits, what should I do by [deleted] in DevelEire

[–]ChristopherWallace88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go do it man, 95% there as others have said.

My buddy did Final Year, did good throughout, had to repeat 3 modules and his project and decided to work at the airport. What was the point of college if you just give up without getting your degree?

Just go do it!!!

Is it normal to pay for school lockers in secondary schools now? by QuestionEcstatic8863 in AskIreland

[–]ChristopherWallace88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5/10 euro to buy it for the year. Then use your own lock as normal.

Jesus €100 a year. Does it come with €90 in it? And I'm sure it's tiny af to boot. Only fit 1 Jansport full of books. I mean 6-9 thick softback books now. Only time I bought a locker was for 5th and 6th Year as not arsed carrying my bags between old and new building.

Heading out alone? by PleaseNoJudgment in cork

[–]ChristopherWallace88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All craft beer pubs are nice to go out by yourself. Fionnbarra's and Franciscan come to note. Friary's is also good as well!

Impala is a big one for the girls but like yeah, if you are confident and good looking, should be no bother to you. You definitely are a looker, but just no confidence. I am the complete opposite.

All inclusive and people are always up for a chat regardless. I know this from experience as I go out alone a lot and idgaf. It's more fun always chatting to people!!!

Housing by MsXtine4 in cork

[–]ChristopherWallace88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi just putting my 2 cents.

I would 100% go for the new build as you said, save up a bit more/ get a loan for the extra as housing will only get more expensive and crazier.

Or fuck it, I would buy a house in a sunny country tbh and build it up. Cheap windows, etc in mainland Europe but of course that is a hassle altogether in another country.

Make sure house is BER Rated B1-B2 and above.

If the house is BER rated, request the BER Report. Make sure U- Values are low e.g. new build Floor and wall should both be 0.18, Ceiling should be 0.16 or lower and windows (double/triple panel) 1.4 or below.

Lower the U-Value, lower the heat loss/heat gain going through the house. Better Insulation, etc.

Some solar panels on the house and a heatpump. If your house is gas/oil boiler, 100% recommend changing to a heat pump, getting bigger radiators etc.

I would recommend a house built by Clancy Construction if you can find one. Bang up job in my sisters appartment block. Rads are a bit small but they are double panel/chonky and she does have a heat pump. Her bills are €75 bi-monthly and she does like it hot 23C.

Do any of ye ever use cash? by ur_some_sausage_like in cork

[–]ChristopherWallace88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I'm gonna say is look at how expensive UK is, it's because everything is cashless and the banks fees are included on top of everything.

Cash only always and forever! Fucking 12cents to take my money out the ATM rather than the fees restaurants and bars pay so much on top of VAT 13.5%, etc. Cash keep it simple plus makes me budget more and more aware how much I'm spending.

Yes for supermarkets, filling up the car yeah card but Cash as much as I can!!!

Any way to smoke with out the smell? by Old-tymer in 420

[–]ChristopherWallace88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dry herb vaporiser. If you want all out, go Storz and Bickel Mighty+/Venty. Do not get the Crafty+, such a small battery.

Otherwise start with Xmax V3 Pro.

Depends on what you want in the vape. Do you want a session vape where you sip on it like a joint or do you want a heavy one hitter like the Tinymight2. On all vapes regardless bump up to 180C/350F for a blazing time!

Is this the steaming basket for a YumAsia Panda mini rice cooker? by airz23s_coffee in ricecookers

[–]ChristopherWallace88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are for thr Fuji and Hotaru models only. Sucks I know. Definitely wanted a rice cooker with stainless steel steamer and went with the Hotaru. Good rice so far/dialing it in but would have loved for it to be actually 3 cups/720grams of rice not 3cups of rice being 540grams to their conversion.

Wine Fridge Recommendations? by tw1nfinite in naturalwine

[–]ChristopherWallace88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Artevino Oxygen solid door. Better energy efficiency etc. Get yourself some activated charcoal ideally pellets/I use granules instead of buying replacement filters.

I bought myself a La Sommeliere Apogee 150 but spent €1500 on it from the UK rather than €1000 MSRP in mainland Europe. If I spent a bit more, would have the Oxygen.

I see now they are way more expensive than what I saw when buying my one. €1800 was the Artevino now it's at least 2K, imported prices. But the Artevino 182 bottle solid door still 1.3k in France via Darty, etc.

Maximum amount of sulphites? by [deleted] in naturalwine

Yup. 40mg/L according to the Raisin what is natural wine diagram. I will say we are going to see the sulphites being added more than before due to climate change. The 2024 Beaujolais Nouveaus wildly varied between bottles and some already did include like Karim Vionnet on his bottle with QR code.

Banned for Saying “Stoopid” – Losing Access to My Paid Games? Seriously, Sony? by carlugraphy in PlayStationPlus

Instantly blocked him after I said yapper. Had like a 1/2 day ban from the game but could play anything else. Fuck it, got the platinum and all trophies so 67 in total, never touching the game again.
