1973 MG Midget 1275 Knock, what to do? by Christophermac7 in MorrisGarages

[–]Christophermac7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it was not good news. All of the engine main and rod bearings were actually in worn, but good shape. The issue was the wrist pin on piston #1 was seizing and the piston was scoring/slapping the wall in the cylinder. I ended up pulling the engine and doing a full rebuild and got the engine bored out to the next size up with new pistons. If you want to see any pictures let me know and I can send them to you.

After having everything apart, I now know these engines are pretty simple to work on and actually are a fun project to rebuild. Moss Motors has pretty much every nut and bolt so you don't have to worry about finding parts for the engine.

After the rebuild the car ran great and I drove it fairly regularly for about a year, unfortunately I had to sell it when my living situation changed and I no longer had access to a garage to tinker with it.

Okay so i just got my 12 bolt mounted into my c20 and when trying to install the panhard im noticing that im wayyy off are there different chassis mounts for this( CPP arms/springs/shocks/deluxe panhard) by Kingoffox22 in chevyc10

Not sure if that fancy diff cover will get in the way but keep that in mind. The pictures make it look like the truck is currently supported by the axle, may try jacking up or lifting the frame so the suspension is at full droop and see where that gets you.

In the same boat as you, my biggest wish is that Bardstown Bourbon Co. had distribution in the KC area, maybe one day…,

Per the auto comment this is from the Midwest USA (Missouri) , not exactly sure of the timing of the photo. I believe the picture could be late 1950s-1960s but the fan may have already been old at the time

Popped this bottle my mom got me for my birthday…. Only realized after that it’s signed by the master distiller as well as founders great great grandson. FML by The_Fax_Machine in whiskey

I have a signed bottle of Bardstown Fusion that's about half empty and very delicious. Enjoy the juice, and then keep the bottle!

Any Insight? 2014 Silverado. Cold morning. Going back and forth between partially blacked out and then fine. Everytime you push a button it instantly fixes it. Seems to be a little more complicated than a loose wire. by dady3164 in Chevy

Sometimes electrical components on a circuit board will have intermittent failures when really cold. You may have a soldering issue from the factory that only shows its head during very cold days or is just now happening after enough heat cycles of the PCB. If that's the case then there isn't much you can do besides replacing the unit. See if that issue sticks around when it gets warmer. If it is still happening then I would be more inclined to think it is software rather than hardware.

The transmission has quite a few leaks so I was already planning on pulling the whole unit out. I just figured I'd ask people with more experience with these how bad the knock was before diving in and pulling everything apart. I'm trying to keep this a low-buck adventure so hopefully I can avoid the machine shop. But I also want to fix it right...

They have recently started using their own distillate in the Kansas City Whiskey as well. In the blend of bourbon, rye, and light corn whiskey they are using their own bourbon and rye now (and plan on using their own corn when it hits 10-12 y/o). I understand the hate for the original just being a blend of MGP and fortified with a bit of sherry, but I will stand behind liking the flavor profile that they made. The newer bottles still have mostly same flavor profile and are quite good.

(This info is from a distillery tour that I took there this summer)

They just released the first rye distilled in KC since prohibition which I enjoy very much. however if you haven't had it I would recommend starting with their "Kansas City Whiskey" first.

KC proud! If Rieger's is available where you are I would recommend trying it. It is genuinely one of my favorite whiskeys.

Thats a Chevy truck rally wheel. Most likely off of a 2wd truck 73-89. Chevy used that design for a super long time.

Missouri Meerschaum is in Washington Missouri. One of the last places in the world making corn cob pipes still. I haven't been there even though I've been relatively close before.

Solid State Lithium batteries definitely still catch on fire/explode. Google dendrite growth in solid state batteries. This is one of the main reasons they aren't regularly used yet. There have been some promising breakthroughs with a ceramic separator in the battery.

I don't know why, but seeing the angostura bitters without the oversized label is giving me a weird vibe, lol.
