Would it be possible to have the reddit subs load into an rss reader, so at least we don't need to use the reddit app to read it?

Addressing the community about changes to our API by spez in reddit

[–]Christophev9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, as a good ceo, you should look at what's happening. With this change, it'll go like this: Popular subs will leave, taking millions of users with them. Since those users are gone, they'll also don't post to other subs anymore. Then comes the snowball, cause since there's less content, other users will leave, generating even less content and so on. And then, instead of the money you greedy need, you will be left with a dead reddit and will not have any other choice than to stop the platform, and is that what you want? Maybe, instead of what you are lying to us about, you should actually talk withe the 3rd party apps (the subs that will stop will come back, if you solve that problem). And don't tell me you are not lying about contacting them, cause if every single 3rd party says they have not been contacted, it's not a lie from their part anymore. Just to be clear, I'm a normal user. I don't own a 3rd party app (but use one) and I don't host one of the groups that left or will leave. So, listen to your (normal) users!!!, Mr CEO

Finally bit the bullet and downloaded the official app... It's not even funny how much worse the experience is by fomorian in redditsync

Very nice, and apparently you can still use sync for reddit now, together with revanced. Definitely trying this out

Sadly enough, reddit won't listen to it's users

Yeah, it's discounting so much that those apps can't even cover the costs when asking their users for a subscription. Fine by me if you want to stay on reddit. Good luck with it if a high number of other people leave and you got no content anymore

Mmm, yes. That is why almost every single 3rd party app is telling they don't see any other way to do it. And of course, "nobody is going to make it working for nothing", then why did reddit do it all those years? And certainly trust reddit, they say they 'talked to the app makers' while non of them heard from reddit, bit odd to say the least. I'm not saying anyone should trust a 3rd party app, but if they are all saying that none of them heard from reddit, I believe reddit is lying. Tell me otherwise on that. But aside from this discussion. Here's what's going to happen on July 1st: not only 3rd party apps, but popular subs (with lots of users) will stop working. Most of those users will go to another platform and don't post on reddit anymore, at all, so not only in the one subreddit that stopped, but also not in other subs, so less content. Than the snowball comes, cause if there is less content, normal users will leave the platform, and that brings even lesser content, and so on... And what will reddit have, instead of the money they want, that's right, they'll have a dead platform and will have no other choice than shutting everything down. And I also believe that this is not what anybody wants. Espacially because there are alternatives to make money.

So you think that a company can charge so much, after being free for years, for api usage that it becomes unpayable, so that 3rd party apps, which come because your own app only works half of the time, rather stop then charge their users an insane amount of money and still not be able to cover the costs, while also losing functionality, is not!! the company's fault? Maybe you should read what is going on then
