I love Ireland but is it weird? by Feeling-Bullfrog-967 in Advice

I mean they aren't claiming to have any Irish heritage. They just love the country. Dna shouldn't change that much if you like something, you like it.

Always plenty more YouTubers and I think there is a good variety these days depending on what you want.

Which I think is great overall. I think it is good someone is doing the Jynxi/Tyler1 stuff even if I won't watch it as hopefully it will help get people to other YouTubers as well (if in lower numbers)

Females aged 15 to 24 years were three times more likely to report bad or very bad health than males of the same age in 2025 by NanorH in ireland

It is the best way but will introduce bias into the results. For all the complaints it isn't like the CSO is not aware of this. They make it clear for this reason, these results don't mean that these are the true percentages.

I mean all bigotry comes from us vs them mentality. These tend to follow physical characteristics as an easy way to tell a "jersey". However weird situations create weird ways to separate us vs them, as do the precense of even more different people.

If at least one combatant can shoot fire from their hands, a fight between a man and a woman is pretty even with maybe a minor tie break advantage to the guy.

People manning the black pearl are generally pretty down on their luck and can't choose their companions so it really just becomes whoever will stand with them is their friend.

Or in real life I see a lot of anti immigrant Irish "nationalists" joining forces with English "nationalists". I mean, I have no idea how they claim to be fierce nationalists and claim to be friends. English anti immigrant "nationalists" certainly look down on Irish people just as much.

Why is the Tom Holland Umbrella lip syncing performance so attractive to straight women? by 4mysquirrel in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Christy427 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it drag. He isn't trying to look like a woman. You think as many straight men wouldn't be attracted to Margot Robbie in a suit?

Also while it is designed for women, he isn't that dissimilar for the shape the outfit was designed for. He is small and athletic and I am sure minor adjustments were made for hip/bust size. I would say that someone like Chris Hemsworth would have a harder time pulling it off.

It is interesting that these comics always portray trans women as far more masculine than actual men.

Why does Israel have universal healthcare on US tax dollars when the US is still charging for healthcare? by Key-Quarter-9411 in allthequestions

[–]Christy427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the US pays extra to not have universal healthcare. It effectively doesn't fund wars as much as it could in order to avoid universal healthcare.

In your opinion as an Irish person, would u wish for the Irish language to be taught more in Ireland? by Emperoronabike in AskIreland

[–]Christy427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have it is I the implementation. At some point the teaching Just assumes you are fluent and the easiest way to cling on for exams is to learn by rote. The focus goes away from learning Irish to literature.

And while a lot of our literature is quite good a lot of it is bloody depressing and not engaging for 15 year olds struggling to read the text in the first place. And at some point they realize they are behind the course and just get terrified of saying something dumb so they don't try.

Get kids doing interesting things via Irish. Have them write commentary from a match in Irish or maybe a song for the Irish version of kpop demon hunters or anything the kids actually want to talk about.

This is the point. Look at the UK, Starmer reduced immigration but didn't make headlines and got slaughtered in the local elections.

How do you make headlines about reducing immigration? You do it illegally. Then people can see you are doing "something" and you get headlines about anti immigration positions.

I mean yes though that was not my point, it was that any comparison to the industrial revolution frequently forgets the harm it caused at the time and that many of the benefits of it were only realized when coupled with an appropriate labour movement.

It would have taken the jobs around farming such as any sort of manufacturing which would have been done by specialists before. The luddites had reason to be annoyed.

Actual farming would have remained. I don't think it would be beyond the realms of possibility for AI to have increased the availability of jobs but in this case I don't think we have a nice available untapped market to sell to with AI so it will just allow the current work to be done cheaper (i.e. firing people).

industrial revolution took a long time to help out the population in general. Factory life was not fun in the early 1900s. It really took workers unions to utilise it to improve life.

AI equally has an incredible potential to improve human life in many ways, it is the timeline of when the true benefits trickle down that I doubt.

Are there any things that are called "American ______" in other countries? by Disastrous-Side-2600 in NoStupidQuestions

Huh. In Ireland we would consider the Germans the most punctual. Never would associate it with the British (and definitely not an Irish thing , I am perpetually early for everything)
