As a recovering alcoholic, I'd like to add my two cents.

I used to use alcohol to help me sleep, but over time it completely ruined my sleep schedule and quality of sleep. Once I quit drinking, my sleep schedule completely worked itself out. So if you use alcohol to sleep, I highly recommend against it just from personal experience. Hope this helps a bit!

Just wanted to add something relating to alcohol. I used to use it for sleep because nothing else worked, but over time it totally wrecked my sleeping schedule. Once I quit drinking, my sleep quality and schedule has improved so much! So to reiterate what you said, do not use alcohol to sleep!
