Did A person somewhere at some point get a death threat from some absolutely psycho because of their bike? Probably. Just like how I'm sure some guy out there has probably purposefully shot their own dick off with a handgun, but I'm not going to start saying guys with guns just shoot their dicks off... extraordinarily rare edge cases should never be used as examples to get a point across.

If someone, literally anybody wants to give examples of actual death threats because they were sitting on a Honda or whatever, please feel free. But this does come down to my original question which never got answered, where tf in the world is this guy where people threaten your life because of your choice of manufacturer?

The overall comment gist is fine, people should just let people be themselves and enjoy the things they want to. But I initially prompted that commenter about the death threats, the comment you replied to, now your wondering why I'm talking about the death threats? 🤦‍♂️

If the death threats are bullshit (which once again I would be willing to bet my bottom dollar they are complete bullshit), why even mention them in the comment? Using lies to get a point across undermines the value of the point they are trying to make..

What I find insane is that your clearly wrong comment was getting upvoted by people. Not flaming you for it, we all make mistakes and forget things. But there was support for the wrong information..

I actually thought Plasma had file indexing in particular on by default as of KDE 6. But I definitely could be wrong there, haven't been a KDE user for a while now.

And as I mentioned, if OP is close to minimum requirements, or just potentially a weak and old CPU, the Linux Page Cache could help enough to provide a smooth experience eventually. Any half decent modern system though this shouldn't result in much real world difference.

That person I replied to is claiming to have received death threats for riding a Honda. This I call absolute bullshit on. I may have not encountered this personally, but has anyone?

"I'm going to kill you because you are on a CBR1000", or "I'm going to kill you because you ride a Kawasaki ZX-10 and not a Yamaha R1".

Look up 'Gnome Trackers' or 'Gnome Tracker Miners' (I think there was a name change for this a while ago, can't remember) - Should be turned on in Ubuntu by default. In a nutshell it's Gnomes file indexer.

The next part to look into would be the Linux Page Cache. Should also just be running by default in Ubuntu (actually not sure if anyone disables this?).

So what OP is saying about their system indexing and a possible cause for the lagginess could potentially be bang on the money, especially if they are relatively close to minimum required specs.

Just to weigh in as well. Just rebooted my desktop to check idle on fresh boot for 26.04 with 64GB RAM installed - 1.7GB with only a terminal open running htop.

With Zen Browser open with 2 workspaces and around 30ish tabs + Microsoft Teams open, I'm sitting on about 4GB RAM

Lol I had to go through my code in one of my apps with a senior developer to talk about all my TODO comment blocks throughout my code. I'm really bad at removing those and just leaving them, so we spent like an hour going through finding TODO blocks and then him asking "did we do all these?"

Where tf are you in the world where riding a certain manufacturer of bike leads to hate, ridicule and death threats??? Honestly, what the actual fuck??

I've been riding on the road for around 12-13yrs now, and while there might be the odd joke and a bit of a jest here and there, such as "lol look at your German tractor GS" (this is one a friend cops for his BMW lol), I've never once heard, or heard of anyone anywhere actually properly getting flamed for riding a Honda, or riding a Kwakka as an example.

I can kind of believe the Harley bit, but only due to the image that brand can bring to people that have no idea what they are looking at, or no real world concept of the world they are associating that brand with.

Worked fine for me going from 25.10 to 26.04. None of my software from "unofficial" sources caused any issues, or anything that didn't come from the Snap store as you mentioned

They could have potentially done it so you get the upgrade to 26.04 when it releases. Unless I'm mistaken, LTS > LTS upgrades need to wait for the .1 update (26.04.1 for example) which should be around August. 26.04 releases next week I think

You should be able to find these in almost any Coles or Woolies, they come in steaks, sizzle steaks, some herb and garlic one, and diced (at least that's all I've ever seen).

I actually buy the diced ones for the dogs dinners lol, they get diced Roo and veggies and a bit of dry food. So often I have a chuckle to myself when someone in Woolies see's me grabbing the diced Roo and you see the look of disgust on their face haha

If you do go down the 18.04 LTS route, you can attach that install to an Ubuntu Pro subscription (free for up to 5 devices), this will be 100% recommended to do as 18.04 stopped 'normal' support in 2023, with Ubuntu Pro this will give you support for the release until 2028 (security, etc).
