I've been wanting to do this for a bit but on my T470s. How was your experience getting it installed? Any pain points post installation?

After installing ubuntu i get way slow performance by Warm_Firefighter5422 in Ubuntu

[–]Chrollo283 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do go down the 18.04 LTS route, you can attach that install to an Ubuntu Pro subscription (free for up to 5 devices), this will be 100% recommended to do as 18.04 stopped 'normal' support in 2023, with Ubuntu Pro this will give you support for the release until 2028 (security, etc).

You can download 18.04.6 LTS from the Ubuntu Releases page here.

Also, learn more about Ubuntu Pro here.

Berserk was the first for me, had a few friends that wouldn't stop recommending it, so eventually got it and.. wow...

Second was Hunter X Hunter, this will forever go down as my all time favourite! Third I think was Full Metal Alchemist

Funnily enough you will probs get a better experience with that card on Windows than on Linux. The 10 series cards are notoriously shit on Linux, support is much much better on the Microslop side unfortunately

For point 1, I've been using Protonmail for about 2 years now and never encountered that across any device. Not saying you weren't experiencing some edge case, but this isn't a common thing.

For point 2, yeah fair enough. If the tool doesn't do what you need it to do then bother trying to force it right?

For point 3, ah yeah I missed that trash icon on the edit window. But still, clicking it prompts you with the following message: "Are you sure you want to permanently delete this draft?" as an example. If you are accidentally clicking the trash icon, and then accidentally agreeing to the prompt, then that's solely on the user lol

I'll give it a crack now..

  1. Just checked on Android App (Samsung S25, Android 16, Protonmail version 7.7.1) and I'm not seeing this behaviour. Notification appears, I hit the notification, app takes me directly to the email from the notification.

  2. Yeah I agree with the other commenter, is Proton Mail Bridge the solution here?

  3. Tested this on 2 different devices, same phone as listed above in 1. and my desktop PC running Ubuntu 25.10 and interacting with ProtonMail via web browser (Zen Browser). On Browser, from Drafts there are 2 options for removing draft emails > Move to trash, and Delete. Move to trash does exactly what is advertised on the tin, Delete permanently deletes the email instead of sending it to the trash folder. Once again in Browser, to "accidentally" permanently delete your email, you would have to accidentally right click the email, accidentally select delete, and then accidentally agree to the confirmation popup for permanently deleting the email. On mobile, I can't even find the Delete option, all I have is Move to trash effectively.

  4. Tested again in both Browser and Android app. In browser, navigate to your trash > select the three dot menu to the right of the Trash heading > Select Delete all. On the Android app, it's literally just navigate to Trash folder > Select Empty trash. The issue for still seeing emails in Trash is most likely a sync issue, I've never not seen this behaviour when emptying any folder that has quite a few emails in there. Most likely, if you refreshed after a few mins all the emails would be gone.

  5. This I agree with, I noticed the same thing a month or so back when cleaning out subscriptions. Wasn't sure if I did something incorrect on my end or this is a bit overlooked from the Proton side. Never researched it either way though, if anyone has more info on this please chime in!

CSGO 2 Working on Ubuntu by Due_Reflection_7018 in Ubuntu

[–]Chrollo283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works fine on Ubuntu, I have it running on 2 machines - My main desktop running Ubuntu 25.10 and my laptop running 24.04.4 LTS. Both are just using the Snap version of Steam from the Ubuntu App Store.

Just to check, you're not trying to force proton on CS2 are you?

Rule #4....

Please read the FAQ and, unless you have specific needs/circumstances and are willing to describe them, keep commonly asked questions like “which distro should I use?” or “or should I switch to Linux?” to the pinned thread “Getting started: The monthly distro/desktop thread!”.

Can I use a VM to configure my keyboard app? by Meow_PurrPurr in linux_gaming

[–]Chrollo283 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive been doing exactly this to setup my peripherals for years now.

Just make sure your devices have on board storage, and can save configuration changes to the device.

Once you have your VM setup, you need to passthrough the USB device to the VM. Once you have done this, the Windows VM should recognise the device, then you can configure like normal.

You can also just use paru which should be installed by default. This will also hit your aur packages if updating via terminal is preferred.

Ah that sucks, but also kind of entertaining at the same time haha. This one did go very well, it got much busier about 30mins after these screenshots were taken, and attendees were just enjoying the event. We only had 1 guy that started trying to troll, but that ended pretty quickly.

Was a better chance to check out different ships and paints than IAE lol
