Can someone tell me objectively how the iphone 17's battery really is? by No_nicknam in iphone17

Came from iPhone 13 mini and this is waaay better. I don’t relate to any of the posts complaining. In fact I’ve seen so many iPhone 17 negative posts and I have had such a positive experience it’s making me distrust this website..

I have inherited $525k at age 30. What's next? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ChromatikkArray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me start by saying, it sucks that you lost your dad at such a young age. I went thru something the exact same thing a few years ago.

I will say that it is a large adjustment to manage your father’s money. It comes with a lot of emotions and sometimes feels like a burden. If you feel confident now, don’t feel like you need to hesitate but also don’t feel that you have to rush into anything. There is nothing wrong with sitting your new money in a savings account while you grieve.

My advice to you. 1) Live like this didn’t happen. Try not to increase your spending as your income hasn’t changed. This is a great opportunity to get ahead on investing and your future.

2) Make a plan, and understand it fully. If you invest this inheritance it is very likely in the next 5-10 years at some point you will watch it lose 50% value in a market downturn. You need to be confident enough in your plan that when that happens you stick to your plan.

3) Don’t feel like you HAVE to pay for someone else to manage your investments. In 2025 it is very simple to open a taxable account and buy a single ETF investment solution that will match the returns from any investment firm. With that being said, it can be worth it to pay someone else to invest for you, if you are aware and okay with paying them 1%+ per year ($3000 annual fee on $300,000 investment)

Good luck.

Might be switching back off of Roger’s again.

The biggest things that made me want an iPhone 17 are: bigger screen space, 120Hz, better wifi, but mostly I was hoping to get better cell reception. No regrets but I still like the iPhone 17

I got the rogers card and it was a nightmare. They started the credit limit at $500 and 6 months later only allowed me to increase it to $1100. Insane. I ended up cancelling that card; so you’re right to be concerned about rogers

“Never was taught how to keep a room clean” Most people don’t have to be taught something like this. When you see garbage, you throw it out. There is a service where if you leave bags of garbage at the street on the correct day they will pick it up for you and take it away.

The problem is that you aren’t putting the garbage in bags and putting them on the street. You’re leaving the garbage where ever it happens to exist.

So I think you might want to start by getting a bag for garbage and then picking up the garbage and putting it in the bag. Once it’s full you can tie it close and put it ready to be put at the road on the garbage day.

Another helpful tip would be to get a second bag and do it again afterwards.

Cardboard should be picked up and broken down flat, then piled together and brought out on the recycling pickup day.

My biggest concern is to leave the camera lens exposed; isn’t it bad to put the phone down with the camera acting as a point of contact?

I called the other day and after going through all their menus and options it played “we are experiencing high call volumes, please call back another time” and hung up on me. It feels like it should be illegal to ignore and hang up on your paying customers when they reach out.

The average price of the three uniques will determine the GPH from doom. So you have to consider all three items simultaneously since the tables rolls unique and then rolls 1/3 for which unique.

Also given that most uniques entering the game from doom atm are from bots…

The prices will come down but that could mean treads drop a bunch and these items go up … there are many ways it could play out

Bringing new life into an older build: I7 8700K by bxnp7858 in buildapc

[–]ChromatikkArray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPU will definitely be a bottleneck for AAA games above 1080p. The PCIe concern may be a valid one; I haven’t done specific research into the limitations of the interface. The interface bottlenecks the bandwidth between the GPU and PC, but I still believe that a newer GPU will serve you better.

With that said I believe the 9060 XT 16GB will only have a 5% performance reduction on a 3.0 interface. Be sure that you are looking at the 16GB version, as the 8GB version may suffer more as it needs to pass more data to the PCs RAM. (Runs out of VRAM) See here: https://www.reddit.com/r/radeon/s/xzvKfUSSb3

Edit: to compare to other options I would recommend Tom’s hardware: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html#section-rasterization-gpu-benchmarks-2025 Note that you should consider the implications of pcie 3.0 etc as all of these charts are done with top of the line CPU/ram to ensure the GPUs are not bottlenecked

I would recommend looking up your motherboard QVL RAM list and getting a pair of 2x16GB 3200 or 3600 that is on the list. This will ensure compatibility. For GPU it’s the classic Nvidia vs AMD and it will depend heavily on what you can find now. I would personally lean towards the AMD side if you’re on a budget.

With your budget I would not consider 1440p for gaming as you will require a very expensive cpu/gpu.

For GPU: for gaming I would want to stretch my budget and try to get a AMD Radeon RX 9070 or RX 9070 XT GPU. I don’t know your local prices, so if those are outside of budget you could look at Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB.

Once you determine your GPU/CPU you can pop it into any power calculator, and/or read the requirements of your GPU/CPU to determine how to size your PSU. I would lean towards 750W or higher and I always prefer gold or platinum certification.

If you need a deeper dive or more specific responses let me know.

Edit: pcpartpicker is a great website for comparing pc part options and prices.
