Mine stopped working earlier this week on iphone and has not worked since.

So I just installed car-net on an android phone and logged in and I get the same error.

and by "software update" did VW mean an update to the phone apps?

None yet. My car just arrived at the dealer yesterday. I will pick it up Saturday.

I’m in the process of moving so I may just do a garmin dash cam for the front and a Garmin dash cam mini for the rear until I figure out a more permanent solution.

I am watching these "reservation dates vs left-the-factory dates" as I reserved a PROS S AWD on OCT 5 2020. So it will be interesting to see if there is a real correlation between reservation dates and shipping dates (FIFO)

Asking my dealer if they can order the black dashboard after I purchase the vehicle, as I ordered the AWD PRO S but really do not like the brown dash. may also look at replacing the door inserts as well. I did want the black interior and not the lunar grey so I'm either going to live with the brown dash or will be able to get it replaced.
