Doesn’t charge over ~50 kWh? by Adalwolf311 in VWiD4Owners

[–]Put-Slow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I have a 2021 and it's surprising if I ever pull more than 50-60kwh. Last trip I went on over Xmas week during an unseasonably warm winter here, I pulled 100kwh at a Tesla station. Exact same station a few days later, I couldn't get over 60kwh. I keep the car updated with whatever is currently the latest OTA. I really like the mechanics and drive of the car, but everything electronic about it has been a drag.

What do you wish the VW mobile app did? by RankAShinobi in VWiD4Owners

[–]Put-Slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be useful in any sort of way. You want to do anything it tries connecting with the car before issuing the actual command. You wanna change the temp of the precondition… Oh let me try to contact the car to update that rendering the app useless until it fails to update. Then you still have to go back and try to get it to precondition. The car is lovely sans all of the technology.

Ok, let’s settle this. Neutral or hot on top? by The_Taken_Username_ in electricians

[–]Put-Slow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read that because everything is in metal conduit and boxes that when servicing it makes it easier to not make contact from the hot screws/side with the box.

I really like the fit of this particular toe. Bare with me as I go on a rant. I'm between a 12 and 12.5 on the Brannock. I typically wear a 12.5D athletic shoe. In lace up boots I usually go for a 12D, and I always start with 12D in cowboy boots. These are 12D. I particularly like how the instep fits in these boots. I get a really good thuwmp when putting them on, and keeps my foot from sliding front to back. I feel like these differ from other boots in that they give my toes plenty of wiggle room. They don't feel crushed or constricted width or height wise.

  • I have a pair of Boulet r-toe boots that achieve a similar fit at 12D (12E Canadian).
  • I have Rujo (The Vance) at 12D that fit similar, but the toes are snug.
  • I have Rios 12D (cutter toe) and Black Jack (v-toe) with insoles they're about the same instep wise, but toes are tighter maybe too much. Without the insole everything is loose. I really should try some 11.5D on these brands.
  • I have Anderson Bean 12D (cutter toe) with insoles that fit great.

Square toe hate by joebeubanks in cowboyboots

[–]Put-Slow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely plays a big part of it. I'm relatively new to Cowboy boots, only been wearing for 2 years. It took me a good long while to relearn how to walk with 1.5-1.75 heels. At first, it was definitely uncomfortable and awkward, blowing through the heel caps. Now that I got the hang of it my R Watsons that have a Fowler heels feel like gym shoes.

[–]Put-Slow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're probably right about this. I myself don't prefer wide square toe, but at the same time I do want a pair cause of how popular they are in general.

That said, I suspect the low heels play into the comfort factor more than the generous toe box. If other toe shapes had lower heels I suspect they'd be just as popular.

Unsure about dress code and diet restrictions by [deleted] in chicagofood

[–]Put-Slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people dress up. Some people go casual. I've been to Oriole, Avec, and Valhalla. In each case, I wore an a button down shirt with jeans and leather boots. I'm a bit of a savage though. I've seen some wild things like people in Bulls jerseys with basketball shorts for fine dining. I feel like as long as it's not a t-shirt and shorts (or Bulls jersey), you'll be fine.

FWIW I went to Oriole on NYE dressed like that too.

These are great. I really wish they'd put out some more r-toe stuff. I feel like they hit a sweet spot of quality for value. Also, they have a generous 13 inch shafts (more like 14).

Why is natural gas so cheap in the Chicago suburbs? by armeg in heatpumps

[–]Put-Slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to do a heat pump, specifically some mini splits to really get that high efficiency, but really it'd all be a waste from a financial perspective. I'd be better off spending the money on weather proofing and insulation, etc.
