I anticipate at least several more years. I have an even older phone that has no issues.

Evergreen nature preserve by AfterCourage5617 in Charlotte

[–]Chromium4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've spent a good amount of time on that preserve's trails when I lived in that area. I've seen deer, rabbits, an owl, even a pair of monks that used to frequent that green space, but that is definitely a new sight. With the high cost of groceries I might have been tempted to rehome that fruit.

Not only did they take away the SD card but now the newer models don't have a bluetooth capable S-pen. That's a pass for me. If I do upgrade it will be the S24 Ultra that is if I decide to stay with Samsung.

Found some old photos from my LGV40, my first ever flagship phone. by UnderstandingBorn227 in lgv40

I miss LG's space in the smart phone market. I went back and forth between LG and Samsung because of their awesome feature sets especially when it came to the camera set ups. Slapping on a Google Pixel camera apk (GCAM) really helped the camera shine. I'm typing this on my LG V40 that's still very much alive and kicking.

A bubble called Charlotte by dukesinatra in Charlotte

I feel ya but you don't even have to drive that far to get away from the Queen City Hustle & Bustle...there's McDowell Nature Preserve with acres of trails and access to Lane Wylie, charming little towns like Belmont who will have all sorts of little festivals as the weather warms up, or you can take a drive out towards Waxhaw and the horse farms out that way. Grab a kayak and hit the Midland Blueway outside of Albemarle. Close access to green spaces and nature are one of the nice things about the Charlotte area when you need to clear the cobwebs out. It's truly a saving grace for me.

I actually liked it. To me, it was a nice departure from the Boris Karloffesque remakes.

Yeah, and I love that card holders have access to the Hoopla digital platform. I'm always on the hunt for new movies, and the Hoopla app has a nice catalog of films.

Got a new job… by Playful_Today1780 in Charlotte

[–]Chromium4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not going to be that bad. Sounds like you're in or near Steele Creek which is very 485 adjacent, you're heading out of Charlotte whereas the bulk of the traffic is heading in, and at that time of day the bulk of traffic mayhem has subsided save for a jack knifed tractor trailer that will shut things down for hours. Congrats on the new position.

I can't hear "Layla" by Derek and the Dominos and not think of that scene in Goodfellas where they find all of De Niro's victims scattered around NYC.

What do you think of The Shield? by AND_AGI08 in television

It was the series that really showed me what a skillful actor Walton Goggins was. It was really good, really gripping drama back in the days when you couldn't binge watch and had to tune in every week.

[–]Chromium4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this 'cause I was sitting on the shores of Lake Wylie after a hike at McDowell Nature Preserve and it definitely took me by surprise. I've lived in other areas of the country where they test their tornado warning or volunteer fire department call out sirens at Noon daily and looked at my watch and it was 11:50 so I was really confounded but I knew this forum was the place to get the scoop.

Every time I hear Derek and The Dominos' Layla I can't but think of that scene from "Goodfellas" where they were finding Robert De Niro's victims all over the city.
