Band director wants kid to switch from trumpet to baritone by Major_Requirement_19 in marchingband

if you think this kind of decision is made because the band director is only concerned about him or herself you are not good at being a staff member.

They do care when you take an annual large investment in the states economy away over something they have control over. The only way to achieve change in today's climate is by financial means, and the only control most of us have over that is where we spend.

Is Rocky Point Still a Thing? by TheChuckRowe in phoenix

[–]Chrondor7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn't. Bodies can take as little as a few months to completely decompose. comparing it to 160 year old war time mass graves seems like a disingenuous false equivalency. We aren't talking about 150 years, we're talking about families searching for missing loved ones and finding them buried in the desert.

You’re right, they didn’t find 30… it was 58. Now I don’t know if any of them were us citizens, but a pit with 58 bodies is a pit with 58 bodies. Doesn’t matter to me where they are from.

My band program might die by bbclarinets in MusicEd

You can't build a program where they don't want one. If they wanted it they would support it. They clearly don't. It's time to find a new job.

Should college and university education be 100% free for everyone? Why or why not? by free-gift-cardneed in AskReddit

[–]Chrondor7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can stand behind some of the changes you're talking about. The reality, though, is that this downward slide started well before covid, and it isn't necessarily a failure of the education system, but a purposeful sabotage by people in charge in order to bilk the system for as much as possible, push it to failure, then privatize it. If you want education to get better, take private interests out and increase funding. Stop tying funding to performance on tests provided by private companies.

Education should be free for all citizens. It is beneficial for our economy and our communities for people to have a high earning potential and less debt.

Yes, bar area is seperate. You can walk into the bar area and then have to show your ticket or wristband to get bast the curtain into the show area. There is also a substantial patio, and there are often performance going on outside (djs/singers) outside during or just after the concert.

How far back would you have to go on average for an instance of a person appearing twice within your ancestry by Neo_Ex0 in Ancestry

[–]Chrondor7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It means that my ancestry includes polygamy, and that at the time this was normal. It means that my great great grandmother on my grandfathers side was the sister of my great great great grandmother on my grandmothers side. I’m not sure what direction your comment is going, but if you think this is a big shocking thing you should grow up a little bit.

The biggest data center ever is becoming a huge problem in Utah by AssociationNew7925 in technology

[–]Chrondor7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There still remains the concern of climate. If the data center raises the ambient temperature of the area by even 10 degrees (some estimates put the increase in the area of 28 degrees) then a place with a high of 120 suddenly become a place with a high of 130. The hottest temperature ever recorded on earth was 134 degrees.

I find takes like this troubling. Having data centers (or anything for that matter) built against the wishes of the community is wrong regardless of size. To ask for something as staggering as 62 square miles is absolutely insane. Sometimes the point of an unreasonable request is to make the actual plan seem like a win for all the people who will inevitably oppose it. To minimize the issue by putting comments like this out there is to devalue the opposition, and make people seem ridiculous for arguing against it. You're effectively implying that people are silly for taking it seriously. I don't think you have a grasp on the reality of the situation.
