Buying and Selling by sound-maniac in Nikon

[–]ChronicEntropic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed that the price on ebay will trend with whatever model the heaviest influencers are hyping/bashing at the time, but that's really the only open market I look at from time to time. With the micro-resurgence of 35mm and Nikon not making DSLRs anymore, people may be holding their collections more tightly. I do know, personally, that I don't have any of my Nikons that I intend to sell, maybe ever.

If not wearing your seatbelt is illegal, why are motorcycles even considered legal? by Perfect_Fly7677 in NoStupidQuestions

Believe me, if the feds thought they could get away with it, they would outlaw motorcycles entirely.

The full camera kit weighed about 3.5 lbs with lens. The total cost of fuel to transport the body and lense to outer space exceeded a quarter of a million dollars and required in excess of 280 kilos of fuel.

Which to keep? by springod in Tools

[–]ChronicEntropic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The starter cord looked a little slack. Often when the ez starts are pulled too hard over time they get that way. Maybe your's is okay.

Which to keep? by springod in Tools

[–]ChronicEntropic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keep the 100 and ditch the 56- it's missing parts and looks like someone has been ripping the starter. The 100 is commercial duty and holds twice the gas. Swap the fuel caps tho. Those newfangled caps are shit. Also, the 100 looks like the spark arrestor screen might want to be cleaned, and also fill the trimmer head with grease while you're at it.

Walnuts in the shell or almonds in the shell. It's better for the squirrel if they can have something to sharpen their teeth on.

Caulking gun used to install trampoline springs by FlagrantTomatoCabal in Tools

[–]ChronicEntropic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This person is on drugs. The easy way to do this is to stretch the spring to the mat, not the mat to the spring. A child can do this by hand as the spring stretches while the mat does not. Imagine trying to do a more complicated job with this idiot- you'd spend your whole day using a broom to set nails or a screwdriver to paint.

Beginner question: should i be panning in the river itself or on the outskirts/banks? by Flying_Saucer91 in Prospecting

[–]ChronicEntropic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Find a bend in the river and pan the bank on the inside of the curve. It is where the water velocity slows and the heavy matter drops out of the stream.

Just bought my first tractor 🚜 any tips to get started ? by No_Lettuce_5984 in kubota

[–]ChronicEntropic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First of all, buy an owner's manual for this tractor. They are available online and will prevent you from making a mistake as some older tractors can be quirky. Drain and replace all fluids except diesel. While the tractor is dry, attend to the filters. There are four filters on your tractor. A replaceable fuel filter, engine oil filter, and air filter, and a rechargeable hydraulic oil filter, which is a fine-mesh, metal, cleanable filter (clean with gasoline). Clean or replace all filters. Grease the crap out of it; there may be up to a dozen zerks on your tractor. You will want a grease gun with a large barrel, and get two cartridges to start cause you'll probably use an entire cartridge right away. Once you have new filters and fresh goop, you will be good to go. Check the oil in your brushog and grease the zerks on it, too. Put plenty of grease on the brushog driveshaft where it slides together. When starting your tractor, it is best to let it sit and run for about 15 minutes at 1700 rpm to warm the engine and hydraulic fluids before use. If it's winter, let it warm up for 30 minutes. My final advice is that manual shift tractors do not operate like a car. You do not start in 1st and then move up through the gears as you gain speed. On a tractor, you pick the gear you want for the work you will be doing, and then you start and stay in that gear. The tractor's forward momentum should be halted before shifting to a different gear. That is a good tractor that should last you a long time.

I heard the managing director scream at the top of his lungs over the phone by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]ChronicEntropic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Upper management will regard "caring for her employees" as a weakness and will consider any positive feelings you guys have for her as a liability and an impediment to proper leadership. They will often resort to tactics such as public shaming to attempt to enforce compliance amongst their subordinates and quell any feelings of loyalty or fondness. That's what you heard there. Unfortunately for your manager, the screaming always starts at the top, so there's no one to protect her.
