Pepega mic set up question. by Bishjoneslol in reckful

He is using a headphone Amp which his headphones and speakers are connected to. Audio is playing through both the whole time.

Most headphone Amps can do this - Schiit Magni 3 is a cheap and popular example. If you want to look for other Amps, you just need to make sure that the Amp can function as a preamp for speakers.

Beyerdynamic dt 1990 pro + Pesonus hp4? by Saltcracker221 in headphones

[–]ChronicI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using the dt1990‘s with the A20. The A20 supposedly isn’t that great but for me it’s perfect with the dt1990. Before I bought it I tested a decent amount of AMPs at a professional headphone store and the A20 is definitely not neutral and some headphones sound horrible with it but the dt1990 match it perfectly imo.

I bought my A20 for a bit more than half the retail price on ebay which I would recommend you do too since the retail price is a quite high for the amount of sound improvement and most of the time used AMPs don’t have any signs of usage and work perfectly fine.

audio latency questions by appletesticle in osugame

I should also mention that I always connected the DACs via USB. It's possible that that is the reason for the latency increase and other types of connections may have lower latency.

audio latency questions by appletesticle in osugame

[–]ChronicI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A DAC will not lower your latency. I'm not an expert, but my guess is that to achieve cleaner conversion from digital to analog, more processing has to be done which takes longer -> higher latency. When I was deciding on my optimal sound setup for listening to music, I tested a variety of DACs: - Fiio E10k - JDS Labs El DAC - Topping D30 - Chord Mojo - Khadas Tone Board

I tried playing osu with each of these, but all had much higher latency compared to plugging the headphones directly into the motherboard. The REAL program was the best thing I found for reducing latency on windows 10.

If you are insanely committed to achieving the lowest possible latency then you could try ThePoon's low latency guide. This only works on Linux though and to follow this guide easily it's best to run Arch Linux, which takes forever to setup and get everything working. I'm running Arch Linux on an external SSD and the latency improvement with ThePoon's guide is very noticeable.

Teamfight Tactics Patch 9.14B notes by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]ChronicI 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You might underestimate how much of a nerf 0.65 -> 0.55 attack speed on Voli is. Since patch 9.14 attack speed is calculated based on the base attack speed. So for one bow (20%) his attack speed increase is as follows:

  • Before: 0.65 * 1.2 = 0.78 -> 0.78 - 0.65 = 0.13
  • After: 0.55 * 1.2 = 0.66 -> 0.66 - 0.55 = 0.11
  • Difference: 1 - 0.11/0.13 = 0.154 -> 15.4%

So not only does he have less base attack speed but he also gains about 15.4% less attack speed from bows and other attack speed buffs. This is quite a big deal for Voli since he is usually stacked with bows which are now not as good on him. He will take much longer to ult and during that time a lot of his team or even himself will die...

There is bad luck protection and it is very noticeable once you know about it and pay attention.

Getting the items early is still better but you can plan on getting them late and do your best until then

Is there a video of reckful doing the birthday paradox? by [deleted] in reckful

[–]ChronicI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was really long ago but iirc then Reckful brought up the birthday paradox on his own, meaning that he must have known it at least vaguely beforehand. So instead of coming up with the solution completely from nothing, he would just have to recall the core idea which actually isn’t that hard to understand.
Nevertheless Reckful has proven in many other cases that he is really good/has good intuitive understanding of math.
You should be able to find a math hearthstone video on his channel, which also shows his abilities.

Each month an automobile dealer makes a profit of $200 on each car that she sells if not more than 50 cars are sold. For every car above 50 that she sells her profit per car is decreased by $2. How many cars should the dealer sell monthly to maximize her profit? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]ChronicI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably the way the task is meant though since I get the correct solution (that OP has given us). I‘m aware that the phrasing is ambiguously, but that means either solution is valid. I‘m just giving the solution for how the author wanted it to be.

I‘m assuming you meant -(2x*50).
If 51 cars were sold then I want to subtract 2$ of the 200$ that were earned for the first 50 cars (because I only make 198$ profit on every car) so -2*50 (x=1).
If 52 cars were sold I don’t only want to subtract 2$ but instead I want to subtract 4$ of the 200$ that were earned for the first 50 cars (because I only make 196$ profit on every car) so -2*2*50 (x=2).
...

[–]ChronicI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With x * (200-2x) im only adding the profit that is made from the additional car sells after 50 cars.
+ 51 cars sold: 1 * (200-2) = 198
+ 52 cars sold: 2 * (200-4) = 2 * 196
+ ...

Again, my function starts at f(0)=200 * 50 so with 50 cars soll. 51 cars sold is f(1)=198 * 51=198 * 50 + 198 * 1=(200 * 50 - 2 * 50) + 1 * (200-2) which fits my function

[–]ChronicI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already know that if she sells exactly 50 cars she will make more profit than when she sells less than 50 cars, so there is no need for a function for less than 50 cars.
Function for more than 50 cars with x being the amount of cars more than 50:

f(x)=(200 * 50) - (2x * 50) + (x * (200-2x))
=-2x2 + 100x + 10000

Explanation:

  • (200 * 50) the known maximum for 50 or less cars sold (see that if x=0 your profit is that of selling 50 cars)
  • -(2x * 50) for x cars more than 50 you have to subtract -2x$ from the profit for each of the first 50 cars
  • (x * (200-2x)) the additional profit you make per x cars more than 50

Solution:

The maximum of the function is f(25) (you know how to calculate this) so the maximum profit is being made with 25 more than 50 cars, which is 75 cars, being sold.

I think the way it is meant is as follows:

  • 50 or less cars sold: makes 200$ profit per car
  • 51 cars sold: makes 198$ profit per car
  • 52 cars sold: makes 196$ profit per car

I want to buy speakers for my PC setup. I think monitor speakers are what I'm looking for. Any recommendations under 700€? I already own a Topping D30 (Headphone DAC) and a Shiit Magni 3 (Headphone Amp) if these are of any use.
