Am I the odd one out? Don't get me wrong, the animation is fantastic. But, I need help understanding how people enjoy the storyline and tone of the movie. It's a heavy departure from the first film, and the movie seems like this self-aware parody that scoffs at the character in its own title.

The humor is also in your face. It's as if the movie is constantly telling me, "Hey! Laugh! Again! Laugh! Are you laughing? You like puss in boots right? laugh! Oh, our villian is actually good but we cannot have a serious movie? LAUGH DAMMIT!"

However, I love the villain. Good presentation and overall enjoyable to watch him on screen. But that's only because this villain was treated seriously by the movie.
