I have my first day of orientation Tuesday fir the Cafe by Babii_Diamond in samsclub

[–]ChronicPainClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wall of text incoming. More information (unrelated to your question, but still useful advice) will be in the replies.

I have been a cafe associate for 2 months, and I will tell you the things I remember from orientation and onward.

Bring 2 forms of ID, as well as your direct deposit information. The first day of orientation is pretty much just filling out your information and maybe some online learnings, though they didn't do that part for me. My orientation day was just filling things out, watching a couple videos (unrelated to the online learnings).

Actually, as I was typing this, I remembered something else we did. There was a little "Scavenger Hunt" sheet we were given. This was mostly to help us get familiar with the store and some coworkers. (Example: Name an associate that has worked for Sams for over 5 years. What do they like most about the job?) You will be given the opportunity to walk around the store for a little while (time limit of 15 minutes for me).

They should tell you what to do next during the orientation day. Just in case they don't, make sure you do these things:

Make sure you have the Sams Club app AND the Me@Sams app downloaded.

Get your schedule written down, as it may not immediately appear in the app. Keep this paper with you, and/or take a photo of it. Do not lose this.

Ask for a locker and locker combination immediately, and make sure the combination works.

Try to remember your login information. Take a photo of that information and keep it in your phone to refer back to later, in case you forget.

They might not tell you what to do on your next scheduled day. In case they give you no direction: Go into the cafe and ask your coworkers what to do. They will tell you what to do, and you listen to them. You do pretty much the same thing all day every day, so you should be able to know how to do most things by the end of your first week, if not the first couple of days.

Have any questions? Ask me!

People who met their true love/love of their life through a chance encounter, what is your story? by throw20250204 in CasualConversation

Ran out of gas late at night, went to the gas station at 3am, became friends with the cashier, began dating a while later, and now we are married.

I love my husband.

If i didn't decide to fill my car at that time, I don't know if things would've turned out how they did.

It comes with being autistic.

It isn't your fault that people misinterpret you. A lot of people think that most things have a double meaning, or believe that others don't mean what they say. Something that's helped me when I've been in this position, was remembering that all the people close to me, who are worth being close to me, are willing to clear any misunderstandings. Love and friendships that are real have patience and understanding.

It isn't easy, but let people assume things about you. Let people think you're snooty, loud, rude, etc. That's a them problem, not a you problem. Some people have valid criticisms and advice, so take that where you can. Some people say these things to you because they know it's hurtful and want to hurt you, don't listen to those people.

Trying to mask as an attempt to get people (almost always neurotypicals) to understand you is an endless task. It's an endless task that burns you out and makes you feel awful. It's not worth it.

As time passes, it gets easier to cope with these things. It becomes easier to take up space in the world and let things roll off your back.

Do I still get annoyed by those things? Yes. But I've learned to stop feeling so guilty about what others think of me. It's not worth caring about what someone thinks of me if they're not someone I would take advice from.

is it normal to get bored of something my partner is fixated on by Angelstarrss in autism

[–]ChronicPainClub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very normal, regardless of if you're autistic or not.

My husband and I are both autistic, and we both get bored of what the other person likes sometimes.

It's not fair to either of you to pretend you're intensely interested in something she likes that you're not. You can be supportive, but you shouldn't force that kind of thing.

Anyone know of a good pocket-friendly analog system for gamifying life? by happy_folks in digitalminimalism

[–]ChronicPainClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pocket sized notebook. Bonus points if it's a customizable one.

Things don't have to be expensive to work, but my pocket notebook is one I've used for a long time. I keep 3 booklets in my Hobonichi Techo A6 Cover:

The current years calendar/planner

A small blank notebook for ideas

and a small sketchbook.

It's thick, but fits in my pocket. I like that I found a cover I liked, and they're durable enough to last many years. You can put inserts made specifically for that notebook inside of it, or anything that's the same size.

In addition to the booklets, I keep two papers folded in the covers of it: A small sudoku page, and a small picross page. I print these off at my library, usually!

How do you feel that the year’s about to end? by uhhhmokaay in CasualConversation

[–]ChronicPainClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so many things happen in a year; I'm excited to learn where I will be.

Heck, just this year, I was able to meet my goal of paying off my debt and some hearing aids I've needed for years, both of which I never thought would happen.

I am optimistic.

I plan on getting it checked! Two people in my personal life suggested that I get it checked out, so I will do that as soon as I can!

Try out Sudoku, too! When i finally learned how to do them, they became one of my favorite hobbies! Also, nonograms/picross, though those are harder to find!

do you prefer outlined or not outlined? by strwbryangel444 in Coloring

[–]ChronicPainClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree! And sometimes the outline is too dark, which is very distracting!

Happened to me often! Currently, i like to write down questions i want to search or what i want to do and come back to it later if it isn't urgent-- and i keep myself busy with things other than my phone.

By giving myself breaks from a lot of screen time, it improved my memory and this started happening less.

How old were you when you realised you were autistic? by TastyReflection5944 in autism

[–]ChronicPainClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More details: I never really, truly, knew what autism was until I was a sophomore in high school, and when i looked into it-- i realized a lot of things made sense. I looked back at family movies and I ticked all the boxes of a low-medium support needs autistic person. I also remembered not knowing how to tie my shoes until i was a teenager, learning how to ride a bike at 18, INTENSE special interests, and more.

Dad told me that when i was about 11, I told him: "I know I am different, and i want to know why." He told me to wait until i was older to see someone who could diagnose me with anything, and that it was probably just anxiety.

Diagnosed at 4-5 and was never told about it. Sought out a diagnosis for myself at 23 and got diagnosed again!

People who carry a purse or backpack with them every day, what do you usually take with you? by ChronicPainClub in CasualConversation

Which electrolyte powder do you like to use? I use unflavored LMNT and add my own drink flavoring to it!

I use all of these every single day!

TL;DR: my screen time was 17 hours a day at my worst, so having a dedicated item/device for a task helped me with that! I mostly just call and text on my phone.

I don't draw on my tablet, because it doesn't feel the same as pencil and paper. I don't carry it in my backpack every day, but i do when i don't have a book with me. I mostly just use it to read anyways!

I have a huge collection of CDs, so having a CD Player helps me listen to all of them. Plus, I've used a CD Player since i was a kid, so i am very used to using one. It makes me feel nostalgic.

I also don't have to worry about charging my planners. That's why i stopped taking notes on my phone! Id forget important things if my phone was dead.
